Most fans are more then 30 amps. The best way to run that fan is with a relay also when using a relay you will not have to worry about burning that switch up.
also you can run this off your cars relays, use a switch SPST works great, ground one lug to ground the other to run through firewall to your fuse box and FAN relay's lug 80 usually... basically you are just grounding the ground lug in the relay and bypassing any sensors that activate it by grounding the ground lug.. many cars have 2-3 relays, 1 relay to run the cooling fan for both AC and temp, then you have your hi lo speed relays ac/temp combo, you could tap those relays as well, this works well if all your relays and wiring are all functioning but you don't like when the computer tells the fan to go on, and most cars that's late in hot hot 115 degree weather... this style here does work well (perhaps a relays isn't a bad idea) if you just cannot figure out why your fan will not kick on for either the AC or temperature, like when it gets hot it wont kick on and cool it down, or it doesn't automatically go on when you turn on AC like it's supposed to.. in this case its usually relays or fuses, or bad fan but sometimes the ECU does fubar and that's a hassle for sure, so are bad melted plugs and or fuse blocks... or you just don't have the time to fix.. try jumping the relay, you can jump the relay right at the block on the ground lug that works too.. but then it s always on as its not switched, but for emergency what not gotta go try that.. some fans kick on when the temp sensor is unplugged good way to troubleshoot see if fan does work..
Right on! Yeah, it already getting hot here in Georgia. This really takes all the guesswork out of wondering if your fan is running or not. Much appreciated Brother! Peace
Well, I'm here for the same reason. Same toggle too. lol.. Idk how yours has turned out since but,, I'd wrap that entire switch with black elect tape. I only used one toggle, and it gets hot in between me cycling it. I turned it by accident, and it touched metal and wow the fun began. And I had it wrapped I thought well, just not that much.. I know now though. Just done this again this morning. Cheap fix. Still only one switch. My fuse wouldn't transfer enough power, so it's just, fan / bat / switch. Like just one of yours looks there. They loosens sometimes by themselves, so it's always good ideal to safety wrap them well. Dig this.. I done it because my fans stopped coming on. I have a Chrysler T&C. My right slide door ripped my wires in half to control the door. When that happened, check eng's on.. Brakes on, obs on, and air check on tires on... lol... so I thought fans were the same.. Shorted on me too... But after wiring this bad boy up the 2nd time. They know are on with key on. Makes no sense. ahhaha hope you enjoyed that. Later.
I have 3 wires on my fan a small skinny black one I'm guessing is the accessory, then 2 others that are negative and psot8ve. Where does that accessory connect dawg?
Where do i conect the postive cable and the negative cable and accessory bro cus im not comprehending this at all. U said basically hook up the 12volt cord to the accessory???? Aint that the positive
Another way is to run the radio accessory wire etc ( Activates when you turn key) ..to the factory relay thats under the hood ...there is 2 relays, primary and secondary. You have to tap into 1 wire for each relay that goes from PCM ( there is only 2 wires that go to PCM to Relays 1 each ) to the relays it uses very little power to activate the relay so it can send the main power 40 amps to the fans! By doing this Your fans will turn off and on with the ignition key ! And by pass The PCM to Relay Control and it will not have conflict either! If you want a switch but do not want to turn the switch off and back on every time you use the car..do the same thing I described But add a switch before it goes to the relay. So from Radio Power wire or alternative (Ignition Activated Power) To switch then to the tapped Wire that goes from PCM to Primary Fan Relay and Secondary fan relay.. Remember that its the skinny wires under the relay not the big one thats the 40 amps leave those alone! Doing this ,If you have the switches off ,the car fans will work normally and when you want to activate the fans. Hit the switch and it will by pass the pcm and will not have conflict. When you turn off the car with the switch still on it will turn off because its getting power from the radio power wire wich is ignition switch controlled. When you turn the car on when the switched already on remember that the radio will not turn on until 3 seconds after you hit the ignition switch thats good because if its cold outside you dont want to crank the engine and turn fans on at the same time and stress the battery because of the cold weather. This is for 94 95 96 impala/Caprice should work for other similar year gm vehicles and some what same idea for other brands! If you already have to much electronics on the radio accessory wire ..You can also put a relay going to the radio power accessory wire ! th-cam.com/video/86_ocEp6mHI/w-d-xo.html

Is there any way to wire this so you can manually control the 2 speeds on a fan? I currently have mine hooked up directly to the battery where it goes battery - 30A fuse - 35A switch - fan but would love to be able to switch between low and high speeds on the fan since the high speed is a bit too loud and isn't necessarily needed at all times.

No sweat I do the fellowship thing too. Im up now so I can make it on time. Going to crack at it again. I just realize it was a 20 amp toggle. Going to swap it now for 30+. Start from scratch. The fan motor has two wires blue, black. Maybe the blue is the power or receiving power also so that maybe blowing fuse I'm thinking. I have a red wire to acc. black to body ground & darker red to positive terminal. The blue is tied to the harness relay from which the fan originally comes from but that's why I'm going to switch. Richard Bradley flex-a-lite makes a manual fan specific switch that can handle their fans.
He said it was a 35 A switch - but the wires, joints etc - make sure wiring is large enough. Relay is good too for this.
So a 25 amp will it hold
