American people buffles me! Her questions are from someone that doesn't know real life. And in real life people are really sick, specially American people bc your government does not care about you
@DLPB-u8w What are you not comprehending? Whatever she paid into the system when she worked, REMAINS in the system, even when she stopped working. So, yes, you can retire years after not working... depending on medical issues. Y'all have a narrative that Y'all want her to fit so bad because that's what Y'all believe about people who look like her, truthfully.
I think that the real reason why that woman didn't want to put that money in the bank was that she was scared the state would take it........plain and simple!!
Yep, and this money isn't for retirement like she says...its to live on. If she can afford to set it aside as savings, they'd surely see she doesn't need that money after all?
So many people on disability that really don’t need to be and people who really need it have a very hard time. Years ago I had some really bad health issues and my Dr suggested disability. I said ABSOLUTELY NOT! I told him I’d do therapy and work as hard as I could at getting better and go back to work. It took a year but I did it. I’m not totally better but good enough.
"What prompted you to apply for disability when you were already getting welfare?" It's like when you're being interviewed for a new job, what made you leave your old one. More money, didn't like the environment, felt like upgrading, got fired, etc. She knew damn well what JJ was asking, she just didn't want to say it😒
she doesn't work, and hasn't for years, and leeched off the system..she's given money to take care of herself since she's a lazy ass, but stashes it away for her "retirement"...retirement from what if she hasn't worked? These are the very people who should be forced to work hard labor jobs. It's unbelievable the amount of entitlement they have. I'm surprised Jude Judy didn't dismiss the case immediately.
I thought she said she worked all her life - I assume up to the point she has copd. Copd isnt a joke, its pretty nasty - my late mothers partner has it and it can be really difficult to do even normal things..
It's very rare to be approved for social security disability the first time you apply. I know this for a fact. I watch JJ a lot and normally I like her show, but I get very angry when she belittles people for going on disability. I would be in excellent financial shape if I hadn't had to leave a very good job in 2004. It was the singular most devastating thing to happen in my life. I actually thought I was dying. I have an incurable condition that has ruined my life completely.
I got disability within one week. Brain Cancer gets you set up very quickly. But yes, even with disability, my illness was so bad, I lost everything. My job, my beautiful house, my car, and my comfortable future. It was the most trauma I have been through while raising five daughters.
Exactly. Welfare is our tax money. The gov takes from us so if after working for some years she wanted to be on welfare and disability, who the fuck cares
I've been on disability since I was 19 and I literally HATE IT!!!! I want to work. I would give anything to work!! My mom and I just had a discussion about this. I have TBI, Seizures, heart problems, but I would still work in a heartbeat
Judge Judy is correct about the disability benefits. SSI for disabled people is processed and paid by the Social Security Administration, but it is funded by the federal government through tax dollars and not through the Social Security fund. I think people assume that because it is issued by the SSA that it comes from the money withdrawn for Social Security while they worked. Therefore it is a form of welfare benefit from the government.
This Disability bullshit really pisses me off. I don't believe that anyone should get Disability when THEY CAUSED their Disability (Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, Overeating & the rest of lazy crap). It's an insult to this that actually need Disability Funds who were born Sick or who have a Sickness that Disabled them later in Life. Smfh.
What does it matter how you call it. I did not see the need to laugh at someone over it. I found that childish of Judy to be honest. At least the woman wanted to save up for her old age.
Why does Judge Judy have a problem with people who worked and are in need of social security that they paid into. Its not welfare SSDI isn't welfare. If people can't work they can't work. I worked in a trauma center for 20 years 80 hours a week and suffer from PTSD, anxiety, depression. I also drank a lot because of the stress of my job and I had a car accident in 2005 DUI. I suffered a right ankle injury, open compound pilan fracture. Im now disabled I can't stand or sit for long periods of time.
I LOVE ❤️ when Judge Judy puts them on straight BLAST!!! 😂 it’s priceless to see them TRY to justify, their LAZY A$$ES from CHOOSING TO NOT WORK!!! It’s PATHETIC!!! We NEED a huge special team to literally go and WATCH these people undercover so then they can PROVE these people are CHOOSING this other than ACTUALLY NEEDING IT!!!!
Sounds like the "disability" that kept her from being gainfully employed was being a drunk. My former manager is not able to walk on her own and suffers with severe MS but she still works.
It is very common to be turned down for disability the first time you apply because most people don't know what all will be required to have a successful claim. I like JJ but this whole episode seems to have more to do with making this woman look bad vs actually discussing the theft that allegedly occurred.
She's an admitted alcoholic and that's problem #1, She thinks that the money, according to her, was her "retirement" and that's problem #2. So Roger, she's got a problem with decision making don't you think which we may classify as problem #3. Now, what was she using to purchase food, utilities, etc. while she viewed the money as "retirement". Even a lot of functional alcoholics make poor decisions. If the lady is able to get some of the money back I wonder what she's planning on doing with it. Part 2 is in the works.
And this lady needs a lashing for gaming the system by HIDING her disability payout all while receiving more state assistance. She's no victim. I'm sure her alcoholism has been horrific for her children.
Judy hates anyone that has a disability and cannot work. Happens all the time on this show and everyone gives her a pass for it. Sorry we can't all make 40 million a year like her.
Actually, a Social Security caseworker once told me that, at least in his office, EVERY initial application did get rejected as a matter of policy. When second or subsequent applications came in, THEN they looked at them and considered them.
She's suing for money that given to her by the state and JJ doesn't like it...For Part 2 we're going find out whether the daughter did any "Care taker" work or not..
After spinal reconstruction I was offered permanent partial disability. My surgery went very well and because of that, I’ve never requested any disability. I do not feel bad for anyone who is moderately able bodied taking advantage of the welfare/disability system.
Actually Judge Judy if she went on SSDI that is the money she paid into Social Security. Soo if that is the case no.. that Is not welfare. If she has COPD and asthma those 2 together can be very debilitating. My husband has both
Judge Judy is on some bs sometimes they often do deny you the first time if you're not a child. My grandma was literally on her death bed couldn't walk, couldn't toilet or eat herself ect. And got denied the first time
I don’t blame her for not wanting to deal with people on disability or welfare, I’ve seen a lot of scammers myself. I’ve also seen many people that need it. My aunt worked her whole life, her first job was when she was 15 making paper bags in a factory, then in restaurants and finally as a cook on ships where she made great money. She always worked right up until her MS got too bad for her to physically work plus certain mental health issues it caused just exacerbated her problems. She did not want to go on disability so badly but finally had no choice. Then she got ripped of by one of the programs. When she turned 65 she received $40,000 and one program that subsidized her disability with an extra $50 a month took the $40,000 because she couldn’t receive money from them and have this money in the bank. A free lawyer was going to try and get it back for her, basically tell the program keep your $50 a month and give her the money back but her mental health issues had gotten so severe she could not bring herself to physically leave her apartment so she lost out. She worked hard her whole life and paid into all these programs just like everyone else and in the end she is struggling to live on just over $900 a month. It’s not just people scamming the system, sometimes the system scams them.
And as bad as my body hurts to work, that’s why I still work. I’m sorry for your aunt. It’s the people who don’t try to fraud the gov’t that get shit on.
My disability was $780 a month! I pay all my own utilities, taxes, rent, food on that! And raising my kid. It as no handout. My heart is destroyed thru no fault of my own and I worked and paid into that program!
Yes, almost everyone is denied. My Mom got severely hurt on the job. The accident was due to negligence on the company's part. She won her lawsuit and the government denied her despite several doctors' reports. My Mom was very young and went through a lot of depression due to her physical disability. Not everyone just wants to be lazy and use the government.
@@sharoneuby-62 my friends brothers have severe case down syndrome and even though they receive disability they are allowed to work at Goodwill for 18hours a week which they do.
In order to get disability you have to have paid into it. Meaning taxes from working. And you have to had worked for a certain number of years consistently. So idk.
I love judge Judy but I don’t like her stance on disability. Disability is not welfare. There are many people who rip off the disability system but there are many people who legitimately can not work. It seems that there are many people, like judge Judy, who do not understand truly sick people and the toll it takes on you both physically and mentally. And she is wrong about denial claims. MANY people are turned down the first time. A middle aged lady in my neighborhood was turned down and she started an appeal only to die 6 months later. She never got her disability. Yes, she was truly sick. I will never understand the mentality behind harassing truly sick people and calling them lazy because they are sick. I bet most who are horribly ill would take being healthy and working any day over pills, oxygen, walkers and constant pain.
I'll admit....I didn't read your whole comment. But in just the beginning you contradicted yourself. Disability IS INDEED welfare. However, some rightfully need this particular welfare and some don't.
Yes, I have MS, I still work, but there are many people that have it and are unable to work. Yet they have to go through the process two or three times and hire a lawyer just to get what they need because they really physically cannot work. It's crazy.
I love when JJ slams people for getting money from the government and avoiding work. 99% who claim they cannot work on this show are bullshit, they just don't wanna work and have some excuses.. you can sit in front of millions of viewers to sue your own daughter for scraps, why can't you be a greeter at wally world? Lots of people suck out there..
@@ExceptionalLex It's called 'a paycheck'. You bring it to the bank and then they put money in your account which you can exchange for goods and services. Are you telling us that everyone who works at Wal-mart gets welfare checks?
@@ExceptionalLex huh, never once did I say she does not need help even though I think this woman is beyond helping. But every citizen with a working body should be doing something to contribute to society and pay some taxes. Yeah disability DOES turn you down. I filed with heart failure. They turned me down. I then developed a fib and copd. They turned me down again. I developed cancer. They turned me down! I insisted on a hearing with a judge in person. This is over six years! My kid was 14 when this started. I had to keep a roof over her head, feed her, clothe her. I got the hearing and the judge INSTANTLY granted my disability and he apologized for the games. He put a rush on it and I had my money in a week. So JJ doesnt know everything! But she is a bitch!
Disability keeps turning you down and taking forever because they hope you'll die and they won't have to spend any of the precious taxpayers' precious money on you. (And I retired last year after working for 44 years, so I paid taxes, too.)
@@FreyaTait And that was why it was wrong of Judge Judy to condescendingly tell the plaintive it was not true that people get rejected when the claim is valid. She acted like she knew áll about it, but most cases do get turned down the first time around.

The lady I talked to said " They always reject the first application so make sure to go through all the appeals." I know people that it took years and many appeals to finally receive disability.
I have to disagree with judge judy here. Most everyone is denied disability at least at first. I myself have been suffering from severe anxiety and depression to the point where unfortunately I'm in and out of psychiatric hospitals often because I can't function. Despite people saying they do help those with mental disabilities, I'm always denied temporary disability. I also have a friend who broke his leg in a car accident and had take time off of work because of it. He tried to get temporary disability and was denied. I just don't think they care.

American people buffles me! Her questions are from someone that doesn't know real life. And in real life people are really sick, specially American people bc your government does not care about you
Love how JJ peels back the layers of these frauds who cause taxpayer $$.
Retirement is generally for people that... you know... worked.
She stated clearly she has worked over the years. You can also become medically retired.
Absolutely. What she did was illegal too because if she was receiving benefits she's supposed to report any resources she has.
Yep, and this money isn't for retirement like she says...its to live on. If she can afford to set it aside as savings, they'd surely see she doesn't need that money after all?
Can't wait to see part 2!!🙏🏽
Me too. 😬

She knew damn well what JJ was asking, she just didn't want to say it😒
It takes awhile when signing up for S.S. She needed $$$$$$ to live on.
Yes
She signed up for disability because she knew kids were becoming close to 18 years and welfare would cut her and child off.
she doesn't work, and hasn't for years, and leeched off the system..she's given money to take care of herself since she's a lazy ass, but stashes it away for her "retirement"...retirement from what if she hasn't worked? These are the very people who should be forced to work hard labor jobs. It's unbelievable the amount of entitlement they have. I'm surprised Jude Judy didn't dismiss the case immediately.
You seem so angry over a person you’ve never met.
She was milking the system. Not surprised.
I thought she said she worked all her life - I assume up to the point she has copd. Copd isnt a joke, its pretty nasty - my late mothers partner has it and it can be really difficult to do even normal things..
@@donteverwonder2024she my my tax money I’m gonna be mad too
Calling it retirement is just a word. I don't see why people want to make fun of her for calling it retirement.
At 2:05 she said "I worked all my life" - apparently Judge Judy didn't hear that part - or didn't care.
Retirement from what? She has never worked 😂😂😂😂
WHY THE HECK DOES SHE HAVE SUCH A PROBLEM WITH DISABILITY.? SHE GETS TO NOSEY.
This line of questioning has nothing to do with her case 🙄.
Exactly. Welfare is our tax money. The gov takes from us so if after working for some years she wanted to be on welfare and disability, who the fuck cares
She’s sussing out what kind of person the plaintiff is. She had a hunch from the beginning it wasn’t honest. She’s a hustler.
It goes to character, assessing someone's character.
And she don’t award lawsuits to people who got the money scamming and fraud
She needs to know what happened in order to help and solve the case
I love when Judy gets those scammers
Her retirement….retirement after never working! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 now that’s funny memaw!
I have 2 full time job , with 3 kids and I don’t even qualified for $20 food stamp a month
I've been on disability since I was 19 and I literally HATE IT!!!! I want to work. I would give anything to work!! My mom and I just had a discussion about this. I have TBI, Seizures, heart problems, but I would still work in a heartbeat
God Bless Your Heart 🙏🛐🙏
Judge Judy is correct about the disability benefits. SSI for disabled people is processed and paid by the Social Security Administration, but it is funded by the federal government through tax dollars and not through the Social Security fund. I think people assume that because it is issued by the SSA that it comes from the money withdrawn for Social Security while they worked. Therefore it is a form of welfare benefit from the government.
I love JJ but that answer about disability not being welfare was brilliant!
That's why JJ was on hush
This Disability bullshit really pisses me off. I don't believe that anyone should get Disability when THEY CAUSED their Disability (Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, Overeating & the rest of lazy crap). It's an insult to this that actually need Disability Funds who were born Sick or who have a Sickness that Disabled them later in Life. Smfh.
Judge Judy at it Again!
"For my retirement" Dear Betty, if you aren't working anymore, you're retired!
What does it matter how you call it. I did not see the need to laugh at someone over it. I found that childish of Judy to be honest. At least the woman wanted to save up for her old age.
Judge Judy is my favorite judge
Why does Judge Judy have a problem with people who worked and are in need of social security that they paid into. Its not welfare SSDI isn't welfare. If people can't work they can't work. I worked in a trauma center for 20 years 80 hours a week and suffer from PTSD, anxiety, depression. I also drank a lot because of the stress of my job and I had a car accident in 2005 DUI. I suffered a right ankle injury, open compound pilan fracture. Im now disabled I can't stand or sit for long periods of time.
Taxpayers pay that, therefore it is welfare.
@@Jesusluvme I paid taxes and paid into the system for 20 years.

Judge sure seems to hate people who cannot work 😢
Sounds like the "disability" that kept her from being gainfully employed was being a drunk.
Making this women look bad? She’s making HERSEF look bad. She’s old enough to take responsibility
Judy hates anyone that has a disability and cannot work. Happens all the time on this show and everyone gives her a pass for it. Sorry we can't all make 40 million a year like her.
Agreed
Jeeez, Judy's gonna make this lady fall off the wagon, ffs.
This lady is doing a fine job on her own, I highly doubt she needs any help falling off the wagon. JJ is just calling her out on her BS.
This lady is already off the wagon!
My husband has both
Hi Ann, how're you doing?
Retirement from what? I like how the judge laughed, retirement from sitting on the couch and going to sit on a chair haha
She was always Drunk that's why she Couldn't work.
You’re making up stories!
Retirement from what? Lmao some ppl.
Judge Judy is on some bs sometimes they often do deny you the first time if you're not a child. My grandma was literally on her death bed couldn't walk, couldn't toilet or eat herself ect. And got denied the first time
She be asking people personal 💩 that don't be having anything to do what the case
Right and I don't think JJ is clean herself. She's always seemed sheisty to me.
My disability was $780 a month! I pay all my own utilities, taxes, rent, food on that! And raising my kid. It as no handout. My heart is destroyed thru no fault of my own and I worked and paid into that program!
Can someone explain what is about regarding the welfare and disability? Kinda loss here.
She can work behind a cash register
One of my family is developely delayed and has non verbal autism. He was denied when he turned 18 after recieving it for 15 years as a child.
Doesn’t mean everyone gets denied cause your mom and this scammer did lol
@@sharoneuby-62 my friends brothers have severe case down syndrome and even though they receive disability they are allowed to work at Goodwill for 18hours a week which they do.

In order to get disability you have to have paid into it. Meaning taxes from working. And you have to had worked for a certain number of years consistently. So idk.
It’s insane what people will say or admit to on tv.
It is. If the state is giving you money, it’s welfare. She’s the judge. She knows better than you
@@lcam9241 incorrect....Disability is NOT a Welfare Program. so you are wrong.

@@ExceptionalLex huh, never once did I say she does not need help even though I think this woman is beyond helping. But every citizen with a working body should be doing something to contribute to society and pay some taxes. This lady's situation is far too common and JJ is a godsend for slamming all those folks.. if you don't want to work, you shouldn't be allowed to use the modern conveniences afforded by society, people worked (key word) together to build the modern systems of infrastructure, health care, government, etc...otherwise we would all still be living as nomads and sheppards..
Disability is not welfare.... Who pays for it????
I always thought America had poor welfare and everyone had to work but they have just as many leeches there as we do here in the UK
No, there is not a work requirement. There SHOULD be.
I wish JJ let her explain the high moral distinction between welfare and disability for a person who hasn’t worked in years.

I have to disagree with judge judy here. Most everyone is denied disability at least at first. Despite people saying they do help those with mental disabilities, I'm always denied temporary disability. I also have a friend who broke his leg in a car accident and had take time off of work because of it. He tried to get temporary disability and was denied. I just don't think they care.
