While the Pacers divide opinion (not EVERYONE hates them), I feel that 150001 is a future classic and should be preserved. I notice this video shows the inside of the 150 through the windows, I seem to think it had tartan upholstery similar to the Class 210 (see the Bronski Beat Smalltown Boy music video footage for the only known interior footage of the 210). I remember riding 150001 as a child on the Derby - Matlock line, along with the 151s. Yes the Pacers are life expired but they did their job, they were just LONG overdue for replacement and funding was unavailable in the early 21st century.
In North Wales we had Pacers working hard especially with lines climbing up into the countryside, if a train had Alstom on the doorway it had rough tired engines and a rare fire breaks out, the Pacers climbing hills never caught fire and the engines were tougher coping with demands, Pacer wasn't a great design but took demands and driver abuse more than some other trains, they hold together pretty well.
@@andrewlawson5779 I never liked the pacers and avoided them as much as I could, but I have to say they were mechanically very reliable and only known of a few having a total failure. When new they sent one to be tested on the severe curve 1:44 gradient which it had to be able to start on on one engine, although slow it made it without any problems. A class 150 was tested the same day it also managed the pass the test.
The only sprinters I like are the class 156 Super Sprinter and the class 158/159 Express Sprinters. The 158s & 159s helped massively with Regional Railways and Network Southeast!

Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock which will include the class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign all of them into an overhead wire line trains and also make most of them into Five carriages per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 8-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 10-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into 11 carriages per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers? A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it even much more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 carriages per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The brief glimpse of the interior of the NSE vehicle that you see at 0:29, along with a bit of reading around the various classes of the era, makes me fairly certain it was in fact a 317/2.

Pacers are pretty bad, they were a temporary replacement for much worse older DMU models. Too hot in the summer and a bumpy ride, they were just freight car chassis with bus bodies on top. They added to the north/south divide of quality of life.
Interestingly, the term 'billion' in old english was a million million, so three-thousand-million was very good english at the time. Using 'billion' as a thousand million was an americanism that was slowly adopted over time

Class 150 units have operated for decades above 95% utilisation, a solid train. Many of the DMU's that came along later fell short of that
And all these years later we’re still using the same trains, except for the Pacers which have been retired last year.
