I've already installed the game before having to format my computer because of bootup issues with Windows 10, but the existing game that was already installed doesn't work anymore and the setup for installation won't run. I've tried deleting leftover files from the registry editor, but that doesn't work either.
The installer worked at one stage after a restart, but now it won't work at all. I've tried everything I can think of but I can't get it to install and even if I can install it on my computer, the game crashes back to desktop after the opening movies and the first loading screen.
The same happened to me and I had a hunch that it might be the resolution. I was in 4k. Just change to 1080p in windows display settings and run it! It worked for me! :)
Running the game at 1080p60 with *corrected 16:9 FOV* , all thanks to PC Gaming Wiki, a site that's a blessing for us retro gamers. No need to run the game stretched or in 'snipped' 4:3 mode.
how did u get the 16:9 fov? i did stretch to fit and the menu text is low resolution and in the game the speedometer and damage meter are too small and so is the pause menu
Just a quick note to people who want to play this on win 10, with nGlide the controls aren't the way they were back then. By this i mean back then it was optimized for keyboard and extremely easy to pick up with a pad or wheel even for first timers. With nglide it emulates the car control more like how modern day titles are hard to control on keyboard

So after clicking on the "complete patch" link, I go to click the link that's in the forum that takes you right to where all the file should be and it says that the URL is no longer available, so does this mean without getting the patch from that URL it's not possible to play the game anymore? Just scroll down the list until you find "Need For Speed 5: Porsche Unleashed" and in the right column there should be a text that says "To play you must extract all these files into game directory and run 'nfs5.reg'", just press "These" and follow the steps in the video from 1,08 and forwards! Hope it helps!
nice, I got the original DirectX 7 version working on a window using DXWND, gonna try nGlide but I remember DirectX versions of older games looking a bit better... wish there was an option to disable filtering in nGlide

No sound at all? Most common sound issue I know of is no music during races, which can be fixed by going into the settings and adding all the music to the playlist (not there by default for some reason).
If there is no sound at all, go to the original game before installation (the one that is on daemon tools) in the game files, locate a file named 'GameData'. Copy this file and head to the installation directory of the game (usually in local c/ program files) when you get to the game, paste the 'GameData' in there. When prompted to replace the file, go ahead and do it. This fixes all sound and cutscene issues, including the introduction video of the game.

After some tinkering with my PC and getting Hot Pursuit 2 up and running again, I started to wonder if it has something to do with broken USB HID drivers. I already have several of them on my computer according to the device manager, but only one was interfering with running Hot Pursuit 2. I don't know if this could also be an issue as to why Porsche Unleashed isn't working on my PC, but I would like to know if it's possible.
It turns out it was issues with broken USB HID drivers. After going to Device Manager and disabling all of the HID compliant consumer control devices and HID compliant vendor defined devices, I was able to get a number of old software back up and running again, including this game. Sorry for all the concerns regarding the problems I had on my end. You can safely disregard them now.
When downloading the patch on zippy share, what download button did you click, I clicked the big orange "download now" button, but my computer antivirus software freaked out, did you click that button? Or is there another button I should look for? Just don't want to download the wrong thing. Thanks

Now it runs mostly correctly, but I cant configure any controllers I own without thr game freezing up. I'm most of the way through beating the game with keyboard now. After a lot of tinkering, I decided to do something different. I attempted to copy the essential files from my CDrom drive into a specific directory folder, then add the patches and fixes to that directory. I then tried to run the main executable file once I was done, and surprisingly it works! And I don't need the disc to run it either! Granted it was an iso file I got from an abandonware website, even though I already have a legal copy of the game on CD, except my new laptop doesn't have a built in disc drive. But still, I'm glad I tried this experiment, as the setup file wouldn't run no matter what I did!
To fix this go to the "WINDOWS" folder in your system directory (usually C:) and search for IsUninst.exe, after finding it you should delete all instances of this file and then you're ready to go.

If the installer doesnt launch, Change your resolution to 1080p in windows display settings. Most likely you might be running 4k! It worked for me!
