Best of the NFS series. Very fond memories of doing split screen with friends on a PC trying to share keyboard space.
I'm more nostalgic for NFS 2 and NFS 3, and prefer their soundtracks, but I have to agree that NFS 4 is peak NFS. It has all the tracks of NFS 3 in it, plus many more, and has a campaign, car collecting, and damage system for the first time. Even though I still like NFS 5, its 5 environments felt very barren and less interesting compared to NFS 4's and earlier games, which makes it not as good, IMO.

I tried buying newer NFS on steam and they tried adding action stuff and like destroying vehicles it just not the same but this classic is perfect and now i can play it on Windows 10 thank you. Worked perfect.
Worked like a charm for me on Windows 10. I remember trying to play this on my old Win 7 rig and was baffled that nothing I tried would work (even tried some fan-patch at the time and even that didn't help.) It's 2024 and NFS IV High Stakes is still one of the best in the whole series, and genre in general. Game on, homies 🍻

Bravo! Works brilliantly on my old 2017 Macbook Air with bootcamp Windows 10! For all of those that are having problems with the intro cutscenes not having audio and the game being black, please uncheck "Use desktop resolution" in the nGlide tab in setupMP. You can't use high resolutions, but at least the game works.

I’m quite impressed. This game is actually the game with best visuals and I had used to a copy of Windows XP on one of my drives with the multiload, as visuals were working only like that, and other people used to forfeit this greatest creature after playing with wrected as degenerates were thinking it were just old visuals as they were. Unfortunately i’ve switched my drives before I had time to fully complete this great game with ultrarealistic gameplay (i’ve done it before of cause, but still this game is just most greatly done of all time) and setting up ALSO windows XP with all my multi load macs and different editions like ltsb and ltsc was simply just not possible, likely now after being disappointed in some levels of cb2 I didn’t give and just checked, and finally after some years I see this greatest creation with all the settings as expected and playable. I hope you people enjoy this truly magic game

Hi, I tried to make it like the guy in the video. But when I download the modern Patch my PC say it was an Virus detected named Trojan:AndroidOS/ZkarletFlash. Is that normal and safe? Was that the same at you?
@@Chorse91 As long as you use the links indicated for the downloads you shouldn't have any issues. I got a similar warning but ignored it and haven't had any issues myself since installing.

Great video man! The patch worked and the game runs really good! But sometimes i have a strange problem. When i start up the game, sometimes the EA logo and intro cutscene have no sound and when i skip them, the game goes into a black screen where i can hear the menu music but can't see anything and sometimes the only way to close it is by turning the PC off because not even Task Manager works. In other times the game starts up and runs great. Any solution to this problem?
Have a question, the setupMP menu does not allow me to view it in its entirety. Have take a screen shot but don't know how to share with you.

You probably didn't expect another response to this video after over two years, but I'm having some trouble with the "all cars" zip. I'm placing the files as suggested, but I run the game and my car list is still full of gaps. Was there something I missed?

ty now it almost crashes no more, i played all afternoon and only one crash, good job, i love this game, i grew up with it and i was pissed of not can play it anymore! i also fixed the police steering glitches and got a nice crown vic for hometown, not that crappy one origina! thanks again man! i see too much polygons cars slow the game down, better install car witn not too much detail, sry for english, im italian

Hey man, the link to download the addon cars is not working. All the other downloads I have found require High Stakes to be installed by the installer, which is not in this video. Is there another link to get the addon cars from?

Dude, my new installation of Need For Speed Road Challenge does not work. I patched it and it still does not work because it keeps asking for the CD, although it is in the PC.

When I run the game using these settings, there's no sound in the opening intros and the game screen is blank due to interference. It might have something to do with the ffdshow prompt always showing up when running old programs, but I don't know whether or not this is the case. Please help.
Never mind. It turns out what was doing it was the modern patch setup you suggested that was interfering with the game itself. I did the process again, only without extracting the modern patch setup to the directory and it works fine now.
Thank you, this worked well for me. However, I had some proplems with the initial start up inside the game. The screen after the intro video was completely blank. I went back to the mp.exe and changed the settings to d3d from voodoo. It is now working, but running like stuttering crap.
I've put the disc into my computer but nothing will work. Tried clicking the autorun and setup files, and literally nothing happened every time

Modern Patch Setup Link IS NOT working
I have the patch and ISO downloaded, I mess with emulators and stuff but I am so lost tryna get this set up!
I'm getting no music at all or even speech sounds and the track menus causes the game to crash, meaning I can't even change the number of laps and other track stuff. Everything else works perfect though.
Got error message when launching the game "Abort message - unable to open file 'Data\Audio\Music\menu2.asf"

So I dusted off my Logitech Wingman Formula Yellow wheel and pedals and no matter which button I pick, it won't shift past 1st gear. It will shift down to N and R. ???
I fixed it, or it fixed itself. On the Win10 system, Devices & Printers, right-click on Wingman Formula. Game Controller Settings > Properties. This will give you instructions to calibrate your controller X & Y axis and test all the buttons. After I did this, no more sticky shifting in manual tranny mode and no more stuck in first in automatic mode. You will need to assign the shift levers in the game and any other button functions you prefer. My Win10 machine already had a Wingman Formula Yellow driver for the device selected.

it works! butttt for some reason my game has black borders on the top and bottom like a widescreen dvd. any ideas what might be the culprit?
Go to settings in the game turn off widescreen
I followed all of the steps in the video and when I ran the game, the FMVs were mute and the game menus wouldn't display. Though it might have something to do with the fact I didn't have nGlide properly set up. Thankfully after a little bit of tinkering, I tried to run it using dgvoodoo instead, and now it works fine. Also, I have to turn widescreen off in game, because having it turned on shows the gameplay in letterbox mode with black bars top and bottom. So I suggest turning widescreen off if anyone else is having this issue.

I did EVERYTHING you taught... only when the widescreen is both activated and deactivated in the game, after exiting the race and returning to the menu... the game exits and the message "Abort Message: AMF =5 screen.c (563)" What does that mean? how do i fix it?
I had the same problem. You need to disable "triple buffering" in the video setting. If you can't start the game because of the error, just delete config.dat in the savedata-folder.

No... duckstation is the best emulator for any PS1 game especially with scanlines on and 4k res
