Every video I've seen with Stewart has shown him to be enthusiastic and filled with joy. Seems like a really cool and down to earth dude, especially for having been such a rockstar.
Once bought drumskins, and the guy behind the counter said "Hello,mr.Stewart, can i help you?" And sure,it WAS him. He said i was there before him,so i paid and left, thinking "he might be famous(and very tall!),but he doesnt seem to be an a-hole!"😁 20 years later..Still think he isnt ,at all!!😉
Spirits In The Material World has been one of my favorite songs since I was a 6 year old kid back when it came out. That bass line mixed with the synthesizer rhythm patterns intertwining throughout the song is absolutely mesmerizing. A true classic.
I used to sell High Wnd Audio from 1978-2008 and Spirits in the Material World was one of my go to demo disks. The snap on Stewarts snare drum would tell me instantly if the speaker and associated electronics could resolve the attack and decay of transients. Stewart has always been one of my favorite percussionist/drummer.
Everytime I see & hear Stewart Copeland, I always learn something mindblowing. Stewart has an uncanny ability to communicate with such next level intelligence that he could literally make even boring pamphlets seem earth shattering. His passion, drumming, creative mind & total individuality makes me want to listen to Stewart for hours. Copeland is by far my No1 ranked drummer next to Jeff Porcaro. If AI can become as good as Copeland, humanity is screwed. Spirits is such an awesome track & blew my mind when first hearing it on FOX FM. Seriously, I'm slightly hyperventilating even over the possibility that Rick managed to score an interview with Stewart as it's been on my wish list forever. God bless you both Rick & Stewart!
@@HangsLopsided How is his voice these days? I know he never did any real vocal theatrics, so his singing should still be good. But he is getting up there in years as well.
That look on Rick’s face is the moment you can see his mind blown in real time! I love when a super talented genius in an instant is reduced to his inner music fan at their heart. Love both of these guys!
Not AI though this is still really cool. The backing tracks that come installed on some keyboards are recordings of MIDI programmed in a DAW by musicians. I do like the idea of coming up with a groove or songs by using a backing track. There’s a lot you can do with time feel, harmony and melody which feel more natural to songwriters with a backing track.
@@just_ben1951 Not sure exactly what you”re describing but from your description that’s not Artificial Intelligence. They are backing tracksnow that use AI to generate musical responses to someone’s input but this was definitely not a thing in the early 80s. Backing tracks on some synths could be modified slightly with tempo controls, effects and transposition buttons but nothing like AI.
What makes a great drummer is the crazy stuff he/she comes up with - even if all the decent ones have playing chops. Stewart was driven to always be unique, original, always looking for something new and cool sometimes driving Sting crazy! But you almost want to give him the edge for The Police's success. Sting's post-Police music is good, but not so much for me, it's his Police stuff that still makes me want to put on Synchronicity or Ghost! The Police was a ready-made supergroup, they were all superstar caliber and Stewart was monstrous.
I agree with some of these comments.... That's not AI, a person comes up with all the demos and parts we hear in all the keyboards we've all used. It had to be programmed. But I do also believe it's all there for our inspiration and creation. 🤟
I remember seeing Stewart back in the seventies with Curved Air and Sonja Christina. At one gig in St Albans they were jamming on stage with Dutch band Trace when Andy Powell from Wishbone Ash joined them on stage, great concert.
Hey Rick. After seeing the interview with Andy. Which I love by the way. I was thinking, well the only missing member is Stewart Copeland. And here he is. With Michael McDonald I thought my luck is run out BUT an interview with Stewart. I seem to have a little bit left. 😜 Another one to look forward too. Yes yes yes. 🙏🏻
I was in a situation, like a very professional party, where a live band was playing, and I was sitting on a speaker right behind the drummer. I’m thinking, “this drummer is really good.” I put two and two together, and realize that I am literally 2 feet away from Stewart Copeland as he’s playing. Like sitting right over his shoulder. I could’ve grabbed his stick. Got to meet him after the music, he was nice enough but super famous, which is always weird. But that’s still a WOW moment I’ll never forget.
I would love to hear a McCartney interview! Just as long as McCartney doesn’t just regurgitate the same old stories he’s been telling for the last 20 years, about how we added a Moog flute lick to the start of strawberry fields etc etc etc 😂
I just watched the entire Rick Beato interview of Stewart. I couldn't put it down. Hilarious and excellent. It's 2am now. I'm glad that I don't have to fall asleep at the wheel on the way home from work later, especially since it's Friday now.😂😅🤣🥁
Spirits is a masterpiece recording. Sting’s bass line really adds to disguising the where the one is. Please talk about Voices Inside My Head. Another asskicking recording.
Rick better release this quick because the animals are going to get mighty restless! This might be the interview that breaks Rick’s channel. I’ve been begging for this since his interviewed with Sting.
Rick, you've interviewed all of these guys. For the love of God get them to go on tour again. 2008 was way too long ago and they sounded better than they did in the 80's.
He did it... Rick has interviewed every member of The Police. ✊️
What about Henry Padovani?
Greatest band ever!
Have absolutely been waiting for this! And was thinking the same thing, pulled off the trifecta...
He must have done something illegal to accomplish this..I'm calling the police 😂

Yes. Finally Stewart makes an appearance? Bravo Rick!
That interview is old.

Absolutely one of the greatest drummers that ever lived.
That bassline is friggin incredible

Sting is an extremely underrated bass player.
Amen....it grabs you.
I could listen to Stewart all day
yeah me too, he's good and interesting person
❤ yes me too, cool guy with great talent
DUUUUDE. Rick interviewed Stewart!?! Can't wait to see it!
😍😍

This song contains one of the best snare sounds ever recorded.

Saved the best for last. Holy Trinity is now complete. Rick has interviewed Sting, Andy, and now Stewart.
One of the greatest ever, and Stewart Copeland
Love Stewart. Love his personality, his energy, his talent, etc.
Stewart is the greatest combination of skill and personality in all of rock!
Stewart is absolutely the coolest dude...
Brilliant drummer/composer!
drummer/multi-instrumentalist/composer
One of the finest drumer ever Mr. Copeland 🇲🇽✌😎
It’s true. I remember those little keyboards. They were so much fun.
Really looking forward to the whole interview now…Stewart is music royalty in my house.

Interesting, that’s very cool. Stewart’s playing /drums have such a unique sound!
Very cool!
The trio is now complete!
All three intwrviews are simply amazing. Sting's is about music, Andy's is about story and Stewart's is a high functioning genius talking stuff...
Can’t wait for this entire episode. Love Stewart!
That’s the first album I ever bought ( in ‘82) and still my favorite 🤩
I love Stewart.💛🥁
I requested an interview with him some months back in the comments and loads of people seemed to concur. So glad this has happened 🥹

Stewart , Alex & Geddy should make an album .
Damn that would be unreal
And Sting should sing. Geddy on lead bass and some vocals.

Most legit idea ever
NO Geddy!
Well whatever it was it came together good as gold. Darn fine dance music too.
Spirits in the material world, was a great album! One of my all time favorites. Synchronicity is also great.
Release these interviews please!!
I had the small Casio that had the sampler on it. Got it my first year in college in 85.
I was begging for this just a few weeks ago, and Rick delivered.
Crazy. One of my favorite Police songs.

Yeah but what if backing track chords change based on piano keys that are pressed. That's what he's saying.
