    The patience and dedication it must take to do this. I'm spoiled by working in a shop with lifts, AllData, all the tools etc. The fact you're doing this in a garage with a Haynes manual is incredible. Mucho respect and can't wait to see the other side of this journey.

      Hahah trust me I’m a mechanic too and being spoiled by lifts and like you said alldata it’s so nice. Unfortunately at home we don’t have those luxuries just yet so we gotta go old school haha. But thanks man we got some big plans for it!

      I get doged by shops but that's what I do and I make sure my work is 100%. I like to help people that don't have alot of money. Why 200 per axle. 500 dollar Brake job. Dudes in these shops are papamered babies. Atleast in Tennessee

    I'm in to watch the long haul on this one! I inherited my Dad's 03 GT after he passed, and he had a KB2.1 system ready to install but I want to build the motor first and max the blower out, so a build like this is right up my alley. Can't wait to see the path you take on this one, great work guys! I wish I knew someone near me that could help with something of this scale, right now I can't do this by myself so I'm going to have to pay a shop, which hurts the budget lol!

      Aye thanks for the interest and support we appreciate it! That sounds like a good idea to build the motor first and then you can probably max that blower out in the mid to upper 400HP range if I guess. I'm having a machine shop build the motor for me now but we'll put everything back together in the car once the short block is built. Best of luck with yours!

    Looks like a great opportunity to lay a nice coat of paint down on the block after you get it back from the machine shop. Really looking forward to seeing all your hard work pay off 🤘🏻

      Absolutely it would be a good time to do that! And thank you we hope it'll pay off also

    Modmax forged crank and rods and DSS pistons with valve reliefs so you can run a more aggressive cam. Mine are Todd Warrens. Full ARP hardware on the bottom end and headstuds. Stock heads just had them cleaned up with new seals and guides. Good luck finding a decent cobra crank. So much better options there.

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be sick! Yeah I'm gonna be running Todd's cams also. Definitely will do ARP for those yes. Yeah that's the plan for the forged crank so we can turn it up in the future

    That's crazy, I have a 02 gt that I have been running a blower on that ended up with the exact same damage! I was at 100k on the engine and had the same damage on cylinder 3 as well! I just got done with my rebuild and I stumbled across this video, so crazy to see the exact same thing happen!

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว

      Apparently it's a pretty common issue a lot of people I discussed it with on the Facebook forums said they've heard it happen before. It is crazy! Next year I'll have a fully forged bottom end, new fuel system and all so I'm hoping with a good tune it won't happen again

      @curtis46gt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RatchetWrenches I kept mine pretty tame so I didn't take the budget through the roof lol but I did the stock crank with h beam rods and forged pistons. I'm still running the stock heads that I had freshened up and I used ARP head studs. Once I have everything broken in I'll turn the boost up a little and it should be a good DD car....until I decide to go the next step hahaha. I'm excited to see what you go with and how your build turns out!!

    Same thing happened to my 2V NA. Make sure to clean out your intake manifold. There will be pieces of piston everywhere inside that will go right down into the new engine

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sucks and I'm most likely going with a different manifold but if I end up reusing mine I'll definitely check

    Let's say I'm working on this motor and i drop a nut out bolt down where a fuel injector sets.
    Should i take the intake manifold off? Vacuum it? Magnet pen?
    Would it land on the piston?
    Thank you
    I did that. Haven't got the bolt out

    you can buy the eagle rotating assembly. Its much stronger than the stock one. Or some manly rods and diamond pistons with a cobra crank.

      @RatchetWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure yeah! That's what I'm leaning towards one of those 2 set ups

    i got a question on number 5 , does it have 1 or 2 thrust bearings ?

    That crank is light compared to a forged piece.

    I have an 03 Gt and a spark plug broke thread because the previous owner heli coiled it I guess but it ate the spark plug and shot it out of the exhaust leaving nothing but a tiny chip on the piston

    What kind of HP are you looking to make? Enjoying the content.

      Thanks! And honestly that's what I'm stuck on currently because to push more power I'll need to switch over to race or E85 and E isn't available where I am so I'm kind of limited. As of now I'd say 600HP is my goal

    Which piston/rod set up are you selecting for the rebuild? And are you getting a forged crank as well?

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't 100% decided yet but I'm most likely going with a forged crank yes. I'll make a post about it when ordered so if you would like to keep up with the build feel free to subscribe!

    Are you going on e85 with the new motor?

    • @RatchetWrenches
      @RatchetWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love to but there are no E-85 gas stations near where we live so I probably won't. Ordering by the drum isn't possible either since I don't have the space. I wish I did.
