@@wigletron2846 there's an engine mount to the left side of the engine when looking at it. If I remember correctly I loosened the cover bolts on the back and then to gain the clearance I needed to get it off, I loosened that motor mount nut to drop the engine enough to get it through. It's still a tough thing to get through the space you're given, but it is possible.
I noticed this engine has a water pump tensioner on it. My 2005 Mazda 6 S Wagon does not have the tensioner and the water pump belt is the same length as the 2010 Mercury Milan 3.0 which makes me question whether the engine I have was swapped out for a newer one.
Pro tip to anyone watching this in 2024 and plan on working on Ford/Mazada 3.0 v6, do yourself a massaive favor and go ahead and remove Engine mount and drop the engine 4-5 inches. Just finished on daughters 09 3.0 milan and after a massive struggle i dropped the engine and it was almost easier then the front cover .
Hey do you still have this v6 Mazda? I need to know where the two hoses go that come off of the selenoid in front of the throttle body. If you pause the video at 1:27 it's the two small hoses on the top right of the vid one has a green mark on it. Where do both those hoses go
do you know anything about tuning these cars? I have a 2007 mazda 6 v6 and for the longest time ive been looking for any type of tune, I cant even find anyone that knows how to flash tune them
The valve cover I believe is what you are talking about. Make sure all the bolts are undone. And use a putty knife and slowly pry at the valve cover and pull upward. The valve cover is on there pretty good with RTV.
munnday86 it is a bitch taking off but cleaning the intake and the egr and throttle body is great. How did you pry the cable cover off. It looks like you paused the recording. Give me a tip i plan on doing this next week
This car makes me regret getting rid Of my 2002 Grand Am V6. It was so much easier to work on. The Mazda 2.3 is easier to work on from what I understand. This Ford V-6 is hell
LOL I watched for the other side as well. I just want to see if there is an easier way when it comes to removing the valve cover. The firewall is way too tight to the valve cover and unless you want to un do the sensor inside the cover it won’t come out
Loosen the passenger side motor mount while supporting the engine. Drop the engine down carefully until it the OCV is down low enough to get the valve cover past it. Even then it's still tough to get the valve cover off but it prevents you from breaking the OCV connector and from getting very pissed off! The EGR tubing will be in the way as well FWIW. (Some people claim to take the OCV out before taking the valve cover off but I don't see how they could do it.) Also, check your cam bolts as they are known to come loose on some models of these 3.0 engines. You won't have a better chance to access them!
@ 6.25 your hand is on the oil cap -- just below that is the oil control valve, you should change that out when doing this job too its a good time to do that. There is another one on the other Bank but those crack and split inside and can cause oil leaks and are cheep to buy.
The front valve cover is baby mode, let's see that other one now.
Same lol I gotta fix a oil leak on the rear valve cover it's bad. Smoke fumes and all
Thanks saved me 12 min

Any idea the location of the knock sensor on a 2007 Mazda 6 with a 3.0 V6 engine?

Where do both those hoses go
They go to the EGR Valve solenoid. Green hose goes on the top.
Any chance you did the other Side Valve Cover Gasket on Engine?
Why didn't you replace the rear side valve cover gasket? That part is missing.
This was just the front side. The rear requires taking the intake off. That's will be a diffrent video
Did that fix the valve cover oil leak? (over on the lower right corner)
Yes it did fix that leak.. it also had a massive timing chain cover leak that was really bad
Aluminum valve covers?

Was there a trick to getting the big piece loose? Or did you just lift? I'm just wondering if it's stuck down by gasket or something

Torque specs?

Same. I watched this video because the VVT solenoid gaskets are leaking. I noticed you didn't change yours.
Very good job.
Thank you
What is this "RTB" stuff you mention to dab on the corners before sealing it back up?
Its called RTV. and I use a brand called right stuff from autozone.
It's "RTV" a silicon adhesive and sealant
Looks like you have a missing valve cover bolt right by the water pump pulley
That bolt is attached to the big plastic piece. And thats how it bolts to the valve cover.
Do you have to remove the spark plugs ?
No you do not have to remove spark plugs
What are the torque specks to tighten the cover down?
Never looked up the torque spec. Just snuged up in a criss cross pattern.
Can someone please tell me the torque spec
fuck yo torque spec (torque spec:tight)
Does anyone know the name of the plug on top the front valve cover
Vvt solenoid. They don't sell the seals separately, buy them from twisted tuning.com
How long did it take from start to finsh?
Pierre Crevier it usually takes a little longer because im filming it.. But i would say.. Maybe 2hrs.. If you want to clean your valve cover..
Part 2????????
No part 2 sold the mazda
Who did the V6 conversation? These cars was only available with 4 cyl engines
Nope. It came from the factory with the V6
You only did the front 😂
Only the front was leaking..
Lol
You don't need that stupid annoying music in the background. This video is instructional not for entertainment .
