I'm 78 still remember my 55 Merc Monarch 292 , could not kill this car, and I treated it pretty rough, after all the other brands I had That 55 and 56 Merc, monarchs were the best . I dragged my 56 312 Police interceptor, Of coarse I worked the cam and pistons 12 to 1 compression and Holly 650 4 barrel 3.93 rear end. Fooled a lot of cars . My fun years ! Thank you for the memories !
Talk about a Unicorn find , your old Car !! amazing, I find an emblem or nut and bolt from one of mine and I remember it and am thankful , great for you .
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the password. I love any help you can give me
@Isaiah Dante thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This sure brings back memories of my childhood my father was a general manager for a Mercury dealership and we got a new station wagon and a new Sedan every 6 months as demos for the family to use my father had a 55 Montclair sedan with a white body and a dark blue under the window that was beautiful and I remember a red and black 54 Sunliner. The huge body style change in 57 brought on the Turnpike Cruiser ..we had a white one with gold trim that really turned heads.
Hello, my name is Alexis and I live in Cuba, one of the countries where more cars circulate in the 50's all over the world. I am a big fan of the Mercury, I have one of the 56
I am a big Mercury fan and have been all my life, I come from the same place your Mercury truck came from, I was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta area, My Dad had a 1956 Mercury Monarch with the Thunderbird 312 Holley 4 barrel and it was a very beautiful car. I sorta liked the front bumpers on the Monarchs better than the Mercurys, it looked symmetrical and balanced. My opinion only, your collection always brings back good memories of my younger days thank you for being another person who loves these old Mercury cars and trucks.
Hello all, firstly I want to say that all the cars and trucks in the video are simply beautiful. Chuck Togstad has done a fantastic job of restoring these old cars. I'm kind of looking for a little more information than I have on my 1955 Mercury. I am a retired licenced mechanic and I bought it about 6 years ago as a summertime driver, (I'm born and raised in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada) and I enjoy working on it keeping it as original as possible. The car was built in Windsor Ontario, and is a Meteor Niagara. It has a 272ci engine, (It's not a 292ci as many people think) it has a Merc'o'matic transmission and a 8.8 inch differential. It's a 4 door 2 tone green and colonial white hard top. It does also have what Mr. Togstad referred to lightning trim, although the trim going down the side of my car is a little wider than the trim on his vehicle. Transmission parts are not that hard to find because of the fact that its a Ford'o'matic with a different name, but engine parts like rings and valves are a little harder to find because my info tells me that the 272ci mostly only came in the Mercury trucks... What I'm going to be looking for in the future (remember I said I was retired and that equates to pretty damn near broke in my part of the world...ha ha) is a heat riser, a correct breather (I'm not sure if it came with an oil bath or not) and other odds and ends.. So with all that said what I'm actually looking for is a parts list or a reliable source of parts I can use in the future for these old Canadian cars being the 55' Mercury Meteor Niagara, the Rideau, and the Frontenac. I heard Mr. Togstad mention about the international Mercury club in the video, so I am going to source that avenue and join if I'm able... P.S. Nice job on the video done by VV Productions.....
I started with a 55 Montclair and then later a 56 . The Best cars I ever had , and a 312 is different then ford with bigger mains , basically looks like a destroker in them with bigger valves, change the Cam , pistons, and open the jets the Crown carb. A great sleeper !
Red ones are very nice. The blue and white also. The truck was a surprise. I don't think I ever saw one. The older ones are extra nice I had a 55. Would take any one of the nice ones here.
back in the 6th/7th grade sister and brother in law had a black and yellow one,he took out the 292 and put in a 312,my sister use to scare the crap out of me in it
Back in the early 80s my older brother friend had a 56 convertible with a contanatal kit marron with black inside all a ridganol from when it was bought Montclair nice ride he said it was 1 of 3 in canada
What really is interesting is the rear quarter panel accent of the 1955 Mercury would end up being the rear end design of the 1956 Lincoln. Also seen in the 1956 Lincoln would be the hooded headlights. The 56 Lincoln would win a design award, and the design would be destroyed one year late in 1957, with fins and dual head lights.
I have a 1955 Mercury Monterey 4 door in mint condition with no rust. I have a pair of spotlights with the mirror on the back of them. They look good on a 1955 Mercury Monterey. I am wanting to sell the spot lights. Please let me know if you are interested.
What a very nice collection of mercury's way to go chuck ❤
As a kid from the 60s, I always loved the Mercury brand 😍 My Dad was a Mercury man
Love the 56 Mercury! During my senior year of high school, my brother found me 57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser.

I had a '56 Medalist 2dr factory 312, 4barrel, overdrive. Manual steering, brakes, and manual choke. Id like to have it now. That was in late 70s.
@@ericdeming6029 The gas mileage on your car was pretty good too, my 55 292 got me 24 MPG+ on the Highway.
Great show. I love the old Mercury. I was born in 53 and my dad had a 48 Mercury. Today I have an 05 Mercury G/M. Love it.👍

I have a '55 custom (base model), looking for the Mercury script emblems from the front fenders. It's a family restoration.
