Interesting series of documentaries about road bikes. The title is a little misleading, because there is no mention to any other kind of bikes (recumbent bikes, mountain bikes and their suspensions, utilitarian bikes, cyclo cross, low riders, bmx, hybrids and conmuters, etc.) .
Just pointing it out. Still saw and enjoyed the videos.

Enjoyed the series. Didn't enjoy that you reused some of the same footage over and over.

    Remarkably little actual information presented.

@@Texas3246 they hide their little dirty secrets like it is common now in pro cycling. truth is the first loser in our beloved sport so we should revolute that wheel back to go on.

Funny how the first several criteria mentioned in this video have little to do with function - it’s all about marketing and trends. The bicycle frame was nearly perfect many, many decades ago until the composite revolution, and even with that, as they said, the bike is still instantly recognizable.

Ironic that although many of the shots have lugged steel frames in the background, they showed in detail a welded, lug less frame white describing lugged construction.
Still, an interesting portrait of modern frame design.

"The Bike" what a silly series. Seems like you think all bikeriders wear lycra and hop onto a racing bike... Wierd.
So a university tells us that marketing thingywhats like picking a fresh colour and selling way to expensive clothes are essential to the Bike...

What's up with the guy at the end supporting regulation? Who cares if bikes are unrecognizable, set the engineers free!

because that would kill outside interest from people and thus reduce bike innovation. Bike racing should be kept to something relatively similar to what a normal person would ride.
Look at car racing and how they look similar to normal cars except in formula 1 but that still uses the principals of a normal car, the fastest land vehicles if I recall use jet engines, that's obviously not going to attract viewers because it's closer to a plane restricted to coming in contact with the ground at that point.

le cyclisme should be all about adding some moments of real joy (not only fun) to your life.
drais/michaux' genious invention is all about freedom. karl was a revolutionaire also in his political ideas.
so cycling needs free cyclists. god save la petite reine :)
