I had no idea there was a busy season. I got my torso tattoos in the late fall/winter since I could more easily go braless with a baggy sweater at that time of the year, and let my tattoos heal without clothes tight around them.
My very first tattoo was on a whim. I was a walk-in that didn't know any tattoo specific customer etiquette yet. It taking place during November explains why the guy was so nice with my naive ass lol
Oh snap, welcome back! This is a really interesting topic. Funny enough, I like getting my tats done in the fall/winter usually because I don't have to worry about wanting to go to the pool/beach/sit in the sun right after lol
sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Kellen Lionel I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Your videos are great. The more I watch them the more comfortable I feel about entry into the industry. Thank you for taking out the time to help people like me in all 3 positions of being a client, wanting an apprenticeship and to be a tattoo artist 🤝🏾
This was a super informative video (as usual!), now I feel like I should make the effort to book for the slow season as I didn't even realize it was a thing!
Thank you for making another great video, James! I personally never thought of tattooing even having seasons. My "main" artist is the type who is always booked up. Basically, like you he's busy year round. There is no slow season lol.//// I'm SUPER excited for my appointment with you next month!!! SEE YOU SOON!!!! 😚❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 (ps. Thanks for the info about when you're booked far out. Of course, I'm willing to wait, whether its you or my artists back home.)
You're back! I'm in Europe so we don't really do the tax returns thing, it was really interesting to hear. I usually schedule my tattoos during the cooler months of the year either way because I know I would be absolutely miserable healing one during the sweaty summer months haha. Not sure if the artists over here have busy seasons or not, they probably do, it's just that my guy is always booked months ahead so it all depends on when he's available.
I am glad you are back with more videos, they are super informative. My favorite style is Japanese, and actually I am getting a full body suit. It would be awesome if you could make a video about Japanese style. Cheers!
i probably will but it probably won't be as deep of a dive as i normally do. there is a lot of history and culture behind that style that i don't know much about.
I'm exactly the opposite. As a collector, I'll book heavy through the fall and winter. My artist usually cuts me off in the spring and summer because he gets tired of seeing me, I guess.
@@alida9927 I suppose he has other clients and projects he needs to get to. I do pay him, but he charges me the same rate as when we started years ago. He charges his new clients a lot more.
Like your vids alot always informative. Thinking about starting too look for an apprenticeship this up coming January but a little worried 28 is a little too late to start
Would have thought it would slow through the summer more so than the holidays. At least here in the Mesa/Gilbert area of Arizona, it's not only hot as hell its also pool, lake and BBQ season. Good to know though as I would prefer to schedule with an artist between Oct and March and if that is when it's starting to slow down and it gives them more work I'm even more for that now.
Im with you man, Im from Argentina and my buisiest season are from july through december. December I have to make those kind of sacrifices and sometimes don't even see m partner until late afternoon, I grab something to eat at the studio, clean everthing and wait for the next client. December 2020 I had a bad situation with my mother because she wanted me to help with my sister's birthday and I told her I couldn't, so she got pissed and she doesn't understand this buisness. January 2021 I only tattooed once, once!! I was aboout to die from boredom but as you said, I spend my time painting a lot, drawing, changing some stuff from the studio and enhancing my banner from diferent social medias. I also agree that we spend money into unnecesary stuff haha I know it, but what can you do inf you see something that will look cool hanging at the studio walls, or an 11th cup of coffe hahah
i know your struggle. family members and friends were always salty when i first started tattooing because i would always choose work over recreational activities, even if they were somewhat important. they would also ask me to do favors for them on days that they knew i was scheduled to work on, as if my job wasn't a real one. they viewed tattooing as a relaxed type of profession where i'd be living a chill lifestyle and not making a lot of money. nahhhhh. i worked my ass off and when they started seeing my life change they understood that my level of obsession was necessary. now they know if i'm working, i'm working. if i don't answer texts and calls they just assume i'm tattooing. i don't check my phone while i'm at work at all because i'm focused on the job.
Hey James! Love the content. Hope you can talk about this new trend of rectangular tattoos from Korea? What do you think and do they last long? Especially the colored/watercolor ones (it's "rectangle tattoo" on Google)
Is it different from Reagan to Reagan where it might get hotter or colder in the midwest and northeast or northwest versus the west and south west worm and cold weather climate
Hey what do y’all think of this tattoo ima get? My dog recently passed so I’m gonna get a tattoo of his actual paw on my arm on inside the paw will be a wolf’s face

Man, it never would have crossed my mind that tattooing has seasons but this totally makes sense!
In Romania the busy season is around aroung July - August, when lots of people that work abroad come for their holiday

It’s not, I started at 28 and I’m now licensed
Didn't think about tax season affecting tattoo shops! So interesting

Come do a guest spot at our shop in north east Alabama Scottsboro Ink Therapy Tattoo Studio!
So if u want the best bang for your buck (price and quality), whens the best time to get tattooed or schedule a tattoo session
Slow season, whenever that is in your area. Just follow a bunch of artists and they’ll start throwing deals on their ig when the money gets tight lol
Yesss more tattoo videos 🔥
Hilariously funny how hard you hit this on the head lol

It's been awhile dude! What's up 🤙
Has anyone ever told you that you look dead on like this other TH-camr named Yulay? Great video bro .
Do tattoo artist lower prices in the slow season to kinda balance it out and keep income flowing in?
*Nevermind you answered it later
2 months of tightening the belt..not bad at all.
👍
Iv learn a lot here
