Man Justin, I’m very sad and sorry your full length videos don’t get nearly the same amount of views as your shorts. That said, please please please do not stop making these videos! As others have said, they really bring me a lot of joy. Love your channel man, keep up the great work!
Same! This is one of the only channels I remember the name of and search to see if there’s some new videos if I haven’t seen them pop up in a while 🥰❤️
For someone who claims to barely qualify as an ametur baker, you did a FANTASTIC job! Everything from mixing the batter to frosting the cake was perfect.
As someone who does cake and cookie decorating enough to be told to start a business, you have the most important skill a baker needs in bucket loads: joy.
from someone who ices cakes regularly- oh my GOD that cake stand is amazing. it made ME so happy to see YOU so happy to use it & see how cool it was to have it work so great!! your icing technique is actually great and i think the end result is just about the cutest thing i’ve ever seen. i need one of these in my life. genuinely my favorite thing you’ve made
these videos really feel like anti-brain rot content. just nature and woodworking and baking and smiles !! such a joy to watch you create and god knows we need more content like this on youtube in this day and age. keep it up!!
I find your videos unbelievably cozy and then I am faced with your horrific attempt to ice cake with your bare hands or dig into ice cream with your fingernails and I am reminded that true comfort in this world is unobtainable I'm being over dramatic, which I hope is obvious haha I do genuinley love your videos I've always been fascinated by the trees and your videos perfectly capture the wonder and beauty and coziness of them all. Thank you :)
i love how there are old projects just on the table being either used or for decoration. This is something i have noticed in my office happening. Everything i end up turning ends up being on display behind me which is always a good conversation starter. For videos or meetings.
I am a biology student and in my botany class we had to learn how to recognise trees by their leafs and their smells. It's exactly how you said with the pine tree, it's very recognizable because it smells like mandarines :)
I cannot describe to you how happy your videos make me. I started watching your videos several months ago and both of our channels have grown so much in that time. Anything I can do to support you I will and I will do my best to get you some high quality carving knife *chatoyancy* in the not so distant future. Its very clear that you love what you do and you deserve so much more than I could ever be able to give you. Your videos have driven me to make just for the sake of making. Not for any competition or video or to sell. Just for the love of the craft. Thank you.
The grain of the pine wood reminds me of salmon, sort of. 🤭 It's lovely! I loved seeing your band of wooden vessels holding all the ingredients. Another wicked collab by kitchen Justin and wood area Justin. 🫶
Sandalwood is also edible. It was a common ingredient amongst the nobility during the medieval period. Sonders is the term used for it in at least some those recipes.
Does anyone else see the lazy susan cake frosting as a sort of horizontal culinary lathe? Especially when the top swirls were added at the end. Could be kind of a potter's wheel as well but the lathe concept works better in this case. This video sure brought out the smiles and giggles! A real delight to watch.
to see someone show the process of foraging, creating the bespoke tools and the produce that cant be more naturally made, all of which in one film is just makes me really envious, but also a really restful film to watch. please keep on making this
Shortly after watching your short about pine syrup I started making some of mine open also using Austrian pine. I have one in white sugar and one in brown sugar just to see how they differ. They have been in my pantry for 3-4 weeks now I think. Excited to do something with them.
Ok you convinced me. I watched the long form video and I gotta say, I’m happy I did. Your excitement at how well the lazy Susan worked was contagious! I’ll def be watching more of the king form videos!
How proud and joyful you looked when that hardware spun for you! Love seeing your learning process as you learn and invite us to try new things with you.
You sir are a true artist, in both the videos you make and the pieces you make out of wood. Also all of the previous episode tools you've made are coming back in this one for a super cameo. I think that Eating Trees is my favorite series ever. I just find it so fascinating and I love watching it the most.
It's so fun looking someone just have fun trying things! And how the eyes light up just assembling it all! My little piece of peace in a nice but hardworking day!
The absolute joy and wonder on your face as you started frosting the cake with your turntable is a joy to see. I'm looking forward to collecting lots of green cones come spring.
I just found your account a few hours ago and I am literally so calm and just something in my soul just absolutely loves watching these. Thank you so much for this super calming and wholesome content.
came from the shorts, stayed for the long form. especially love the ones with craft and for from the same tree, even though they are so much more intensive to make...
That cake turntable turnabout fantastic I didn't understand how you were to pull it off at first but this video went through it all so well. Also I think the spruce needles and cones are totally appropriate as garnishes. Garnishes are supposed to *SPRUCE* up a dish.
I really loved the black Hospice shirt you had on in the beginning of the video. It's one of my favorite albums, and it's wonderful to see someone else who enjoyed it too.
Back when i first heard about lazy susans I was living with an elderly cat called Suzan who slept a lot. Luckily, she was completely deaf and so wasn't bothered by my pointing & shouting LAZY SUZAN every time I walked in on her sleeping. She also enjoyed watching fireworks. Beautiful cake, by the way
As a semi professional baker piping the buttercream in the center and setting the cake on top and just do a thin coat of frosting and put it in the freezer. When it’s chilled much easier to decorate.
I always feel happy when I watch your videos. The joy that you show in your interaction with trees is really fun to share with you. I'll keep watching your videos as long as you keep making them. 🙂
Spinning cake stands are a complete necessity for frosting jobs! I'm happy to have inherited my grandma's giant professional 20" lazy susan, but yours is very pretty and looks like it gives the cake quite a smooth ride. Loved the video man, keep creating!
Justin, what a great video! You clearly changed up the format a little bit, and I think it's awesome. I'm loving the extra camera angles and footage of the work on the lathe. Definitely one of your best! I've actually started using my lathe again thanks to your videos. I've been making handles, while my brother has been making shovel blades and axe heads. It's a really cool bonding activity I might have missed out on if not for your videos, thanks!
As a professional baker, I'm gonna try this and then put my spin on it! With the holidays arriving (my biggest selling period) in the South where I currently reside, this will be EPIC! 👀
i love your videos justin. they really have helped me get more into something i was already interested in - foraging but only mushrooms and some smaller plants - and just interested in trees at all. your videos are always comfy, fun, just funny enough, and full of charm. it really just feels like youre doing what you love and im so glad you can and choose to share that with us.
Love the directions you took with your channel and the series. These long videos and this eating trees serie are so enjoyable to watch. I hope that you will continue in this way and wish you the best of luck with your channel.
This was so wholesome to watch from the picking of the cones, making the cake spinny thing to the smile on your face when you put the buttercream on the cake I loved it :)
Your cake turntable (that's what we baking types call 'em) is beautiful AND functional - win/win! And honestly, coming from an experienced home baker, you did a brilliant job (the second time - let's be clear, that first attempt was a crime against cake lol). My partner has made me three different cake turntables now while perfecting his wood-turning and they're such a delight to use. Yes, he's a wood-turner and I bake, so your videos are the perfect entertainment for us both. PS you'll get an even better result with your frosting if you use the flat edge of the knife to level it out. But you were on point the whole way, from leveling off the layers to adding pine syrup straight to the cake. It made me very happy to watch😍
dude i seriously love ur videos so much, the amount of effort that goes into it all it’s really amazing, plus all the visible happiness you get is so nice to see
Yess!! Ive been waiting for a new post for so long it feels!! Your videos have helped me fight my depression recently and I'm so thankful to see you today. :) lots of love
I love when you do things like frosting cakes with your hands or using random things for bookmarks. I think its so funny and a great tie in to you making stuff.
The amount of times this guy said light and fluffy is crazy but seriously keep it up man ypur are literaly my favorite content creater your videos bring me so much joy (especially long form) please never stop this amazing work
All so lovely! I love your grin as you're spinning the pine-cone cake around on the pine-wood platter hehe. That looks really wonderful :) A very relaxing video, thank you!
My 21st birthday is in a few weeks and seeing you get stoked about this cake inspired me to try this recipe for my birthday cake! Thanks for sharing your passion and knowledge, it always brightens my day!!
Your smile during the icing was so touching ☺️ Isn't it an unbelievable feeling when you achieve something by actually making an item all by yourself to help yourself to create something that will make your icing so much easier for years to come. I would be smiling so happyly to 😂❤
I love how joyful you look when you're icing the cake! Just like a kid testing out a new toy. I hope you acheive all the goals you set out to make when you started this channel. You deserve it, great videos, great recipies, great creations. Much love.
The absolute horror at watching him frost the first cake with his bare hand was happily soothed by his joy when the turning table worked!
Funny that he wore gloves through so many of the other steps lol
Man Justin, I’m very sad and sorry your full length videos don’t get nearly the same amount of views as your shorts. That said, please please please do not stop making these videos! As others have said, they really bring me a lot of joy. Love your channel man, keep up the great work!
Oh thanks!! Yeah I’m still fighting that good fight. Hopefully some day!
@@Justinthetreesgood luck
Agreed!
Sawdust in a rice crispy treat
yeah the long vids are so cool
I'm so impressed that you made something that required assembly. It turned out so well! Your smile while you were frosting the cake was contagious.
Hahaha thanks! It was genuine, I was so delighted and surprised by how well it actually worked!
@@Justinthetrees can agree the smile was very contagious, and the spiral pattern you made looked great too
The absolute childlike joy of you using that cake stand was so heartwarming...
I cannot describe how contagious your smile was when using the cake stand for the first time. this is why you will always be my comfort channel
Ahh thank you so much!!
SAME! this is a Good Place on the internet. thank you!
Absolutely agree! When he was frosting the cake, I couldn't stop smiling, he looked so happy ❤
This is definitely a recipe I want to try!
Same! This is one of the only channels I remember the name of and search to see if there’s some new videos if I haven’t seen them pop up in a while 🥰❤️
I read this as " I cannot describe how coniferous your smile was..."😂😂
For someone who claims to barely qualify as an ametur baker, you did a FANTASTIC job! Everything from mixing the batter to frosting the cake was perfect.
seconded, all you really need is more practice/experience. the only cringe I felt was the scene at the start when you used your fingers.
First a tree-lore expert, then a wood turner, THEN a cook, and now an ENGINEER.
Man does it all holy smokes
As someone who does cake and cookie decorating enough to be told to start a business, you have the most important skill a baker needs in bucket loads: joy.

As someone who used to only watch your shorts. I’m glad I now watch your long form videos. It’s so amazing to see you go through the full process
I'm a home cook and a carpentry enthusiast. Finding your channel feels like a heavenly lucid dream. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Adore your giddy lil smile when you realized how effective the turner was! Really fantastic episode - probably my favorite so far!
Oops - typed that before I heard you describe yourself as "giddy" hahaha
these videos really feel like anti-brain rot content. just nature and woodworking and baking and smiles !! such a joy to watch you create and god knows we need more content like this on youtube in this day and age. keep it up!!
something about this man gives me chill-uncle-who-you’d-go-exploring-with-and-always-feel-safe-around vibes
I find your videos unbelievably cozy and then I am faced with your horrific attempt to ice cake with your bare hands or dig into ice cream with your fingernails and I am reminded that true comfort in this world is unobtainable
I'm being over dramatic, which I hope is obvious haha
I do genuinley love your videos
I've always been fascinated by the trees and your videos perfectly capture the wonder and beauty and coziness of them all.
Thank you :)
The swirl at the top is iconic. It looks like the pine syrup cake you'd get in a cozy videogame
i love how there are old projects just on the table being either used or for decoration. This is something i have noticed in my office happening. Everything i end up turning ends up being on display behind me which is always a good conversation starter. For videos or meetings.
The joy you exude when you enjoy the lazy Susan is EVERYTHING!!
Made me smile!
You have, over time, made your own set of kitchen utensils, plates, bowls, and cups. I love it!
I love how happy he looks when frosting the cake
I love how happy you were when the cake spinner worked
I am a biology student and in my botany class we had to learn how to recognise trees by their leafs and their smells. It's exactly how you said with the pine tree, it's very recognizable because it smells like mandarines :)

My man's got so many bowls for his mise en place. What a king.
The grain of the pine wood reminds me of salmon, sort of. 🤭 It's lovely! I loved seeing your band of wooden vessels holding all the ingredients. Another wicked collab by kitchen Justin and wood area Justin. 🫶
I’m jealous of all your wooden kitchen bowls and supplies
Still waiting for you to try eating the physical wood of a tree somehow
The Yacaratiá tree from argentina only contains 10% cellulose and is eaten as a dessert
Yes he should get some shipped to him somehow
Well isn't that just what cinnamon is?
Sandalwood is also edible. It was a common ingredient amongst the nobility during the medieval period. Sonders is the term used for it in at least some those recipes.
Even with a pedestrian wood, mixxing some saw dust into bread flower could do it?
you remind me of a cool older brother or uncle that I never got to have. its really nice watching these videos
Finally! A tutorial on how to eat trees! I've been waiting all my life for this moment!
My favourite part of the video is how happy and exited you looked when you realized how well the spinny thing you made works😊
everything in your kitchen looks so aesthetically pleasing!! really happy it's a longer video with a more complex recipe!
to see someone show the process of foraging, creating the bespoke tools and the produce that cant be more naturally made, all of which in one film is just makes me really envious, but also a really restful film to watch. please keep on making this
Omg his smile while icing the cake on that turn table gives me life 😭😭 I love him so much he is a delight!!!
It's genuinely amazing how you don't waste your old projects and use actually use them!
That pine is so nice. While some may call it boring, I say that classic woods like it are very warm and familiar. Amazing work on the spinning stand 👍
whenever he smiled i got really happy becuase you look like a very happy and cheerful man and that makes me so happy!
I love the combination of woodwork, baking and tree knowledge that you put in these videos. Truly something unique. Keep up the wonderful work!
19:55 that smile made my day 😊
The way he smiled when he saw that it really worked. ❤ That literally just made my day. ❤

That look of pure joy on your face is quiet contagious. Well done. Love your videos 😊
I love the sheer joy when you were using the turntable! You look so happy.

As a semi professional baker piping the buttercream in the center and setting the cake on top and just do a thin coat of frosting and put it in the freezer. When it’s chilled much easier to decorate.
Seeing Justin's genuine emotions makes me smile
I have no idea how a pine cone syrup flavoured cake tastes like but it looks great and fluffy and the cake stand works perfectly too. Nice 👍
I always feel happy when I watch your videos. The joy that you show in your interaction with trees is really fun to share with you. I'll keep watching your videos as long as you keep making them. 🙂
