this was one of the better recordings of this book that I came across, so thank you for the effort put into it! it's much appreciated. I loved Anne of Green Gables as a child and this was a great revisit.
I’m so grateful to the volunteers who made this audio book possible. That being said, I add with a smile that darling Diana sounded exactly like Joan Hickson of Miss Marble. Poor Diana turned into a kind senior citizen speaking into an empty juice can every time her dialogue was read. Gilbert was a bit ‘iffy’ but nothing like Diana’s rendition. How thankful I was that Diana was not heard from more. Marilla and Matthew were perfect as was Anne.
This is such a delightful story. I wish I would have read it when I was younger. However, I am glad that I chose to listen. LOL, I can just imagine the fights I would have gotten into with the other boys if I had. Now, i wish I would have had the courage to do so, I wouldn't have been afraid of the fights--just the constant ridicule until I shut them up. I have 6 brothers and 4 sisters, at least one of them would have found out and 1 or 2 of my brothers would have made it known. Ladies, please find a way, to make it ok, for boys to enjoy a story like this too. I'm sure that even as a boy I would have enjoyed this. We need to find a way to make it ok for boys to enjoy a story like this without feeling like they are losing their masculinity. Now that I think of it, I don't know why I was afraid to be caught reading it. I was accused of being gay, girly, a sissy, and all that, several times anyway, and I took care of that, unfortunately I had to be a bit brutal to convince them. Also, several of those same guys came to me later when they needed help and couldn't think of a way out. I do not wish to feminize men, on the contrary. I do want men to know that it's ok to feel their feelings, not be afraid of them, learn to understand them, or at least try. I think that is what we need help with, we try too hard to ignore or deny our feelings.
Dean Smith Im a gay guy but I dont think it makes you any less of a man if you read something as wonderful as this. One should be able to read whatever he wishes without the fear of anything. What you read does not make you but it enriches you. If you’re a straight guy and wanna learn and understand gay people, reading about them wont make you gay all of the sudden but will make you a man with (hopefully) better view of them.
I hesitate to Critique the cast because I believe they are volunteers, but I think Dianna and the great aunt got their scripts switched. Dianna sounds like an old woman and the aunt sounds like a little boy! LOL!
I was watching Anne.. with an E and couldn’t handle the changes so I came and found this…. So far I am loving the voices they match the characters except for Diana’s it sounds so ….unfitting
The woman who voiced Diana's part was lovely, but I cannot help but see her as an elderly lady all decked out in gray crepe with her hair all crimped, with pearls and lace around her neck running around with Anne, playing at being a young girl. It sadly, utterly ruined what would have been an enchanting production for who wants to imagine lovely dark eyed and haired Diana Barry as a odd old lady. It's a shame.
Second time listening to this and still loving every chapter of it. Anne is such a fun character and Matthew and Marilla and almost everyone in Avonlea are very likable as well. The last chapter still made me cry.
O. M. G!!!! There is must have been a terrible mistake!! Aunt Josephine has a young girl's voice and Diana has a old lady's voice! It didn't occur to anyone doing these recordings how messed up this is? It's a shame, that's what!.... it nearly makes listening untenable. Anne's narrator is the saving grace.
I agree with you 100% the girl that played her in the miniseries was perfect but this was the WRONG voice for the character! Anne however was great and so ws Morrilla. Casting all around not too bad except for Dianna! Kinda like a beautiful landscape painting with a horse in it but on the horse is a human rider terribly drawn (that's what it reminds me of, it just doesn't FIT)

Think it would be better with the soundtrack, so watch the movie instead. I still love hell and got Diana very drunk, on the strawberry cordial she thought it was. I want to read for more.
I loved it until the part Diana comes in. But I still listen to it I am at chapter 15 keep up the good work thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up 😄😊🤗 thank you for the story thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up keep up the good work
I'm really trying to get through this but Ann is just too much of a drama queen for me 😂 and then there's the voices that everyone else is talking about 🙄 and also the pronunciation of certain words
Oh.... Diana's voice!! I read everyone comments about her voice but didn't think it would be that bad!
Miss Barry's is bad too!
Same😂
Whoever did Diana ought to have done Marilla or Rachel Lynde. It’s truly cringe-worthy putting it forth for a teenage girl.

The voice of Anne is perfect.

I love Lucy Maud Montgomery books

I really enjoyed listening to this book, it would have been better without the ad at the beginning of every chapter. It breaks up the flow.
Everyone, who is a kindred spirit, should have a girl like her in their life.
Diana sounds eighty years old
Put me off,can't listen anymore.
And Miss Josephine Barry sounds like an 11 year old. 😒 why didn't they just switch them?
LOL I agree...I still listened to it but it was hard to imagine Diana as she should be
Yes, this is the one I'll listen to. Good reading! Very pleasant voices.
2:07 Chapter 1 Mrs.Rachel Lynde is surprised
The woman who voiced Diana's part was lovely, but I cannot help but see her as an elderly lady all decked out in gray crepe with her hair all crimped, with pearls and lace around her neck running around with Anne, playing at being a young girl. This deserves to be professionally recorded by professionals.
But its volunteers and we are blessed to be able to read it for free!! Gratitude is the best attitude.❤
I love this book 💞💞💞💞💞
The people who voiced Dianna and the Great Aunt should have switched parts.
I’m not that far in this audio yet, but I agree Diana’s voice is rather “elderly” 😐
Yes!!!
Thank you for this ❤️
Who is the artist of the cover painting. It is so wonderful.
Well, I have tried everything but I could only listen to 6:54:02. I was very sad about this. The reading was pretty good.
liverbox app is free you can read there tho it's been six years so I don't know if this will be of any help
Thank you!
Chapter 16: 3:41:16
You should of swapped dianas voice with Josephine Barry
Donna's voice !!!!!!!! other than that good
Gilbert's and Diana's readers have some work cut out for them :D it's a good thing they didn't have too many lines! otherwise wonderful!
The voice Marilla is the same voice the Netflix? Someone know?
Love this
Does anyone know who painted this image. I absolutely love it.

Marta Grzelak I know her voice sounds like an older lady and her mother sounds so modern it doesn't fly into the story
*fit
Most people don't realize the Dianna character is actually 57 years old...so this voice does actually match, lol ;-)

I didn't like Dianna's voice...
it's just not the voice of a child
If they would have switched the voices for Diana and Josephine Barry, it would have been more pleasant.
yeah, and it sounded like she had a South African accent. 😑
I loved it until the part Diana comes in. But I still listen to it
I am at chapter 15 keep up the good work thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up 😄😊🤗 thank you for the story thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up keep up the good work
Why is the voice of Diana an old lady instead of another little girl?

Dianna's voice is the worst!!! 🤣
I have a shorter version. I am to tired to read so I came here (TH-cam) to look for some audiobooks. Can you do a shorter version please?

Diana's voice is awful
