    16:10 - Actually, Darth Malak uses Force Immunity (and I think Master Uthar and Yuthura Ban both use it too), so it's probably essential for any Consular.

    2:20 Jedi robes actually increase your Defense. Standard ones give +1 Defense, Knight Robes +2 Defense, Master Robes +3 Defense and there are 3 robes in the game that grant +5 Defense.

    While I usually don't like Min-Maxing for KOTOR this is really helpful, honestly sometimes I feel like not taking Master Speed just so that the game stays a bit balanced it can turn into a joke if your stats are right

    A lot of disagreements and some corrections.
    Improved Force Resistance has an incomplete description. It adds regular Energy damage to the list of damage types it resists. This means you gain damage resistance against blasters and lightsabers, for your whole party. It's very strong.
    Affliction and Plague are completely wrong in the description. Both give a -1 penalty to all attributes every 6 seconds up to a maximum of 6. Affliction lasts 36 seconds and Plague last 72 seconds. Not very useful as most enemies die before the penalty accumulates.
    Being stunned does not affect critical hits. Critical hits are entirely dependent on the d20 attack roll and the threat range if the weapon. Stunned does enable Sneak Attacks, which are not critical hits.
    Force Armor and Force Valor only last 22 seconds, which is 3 and 1/3 rounds. This includes the round it takes to cast them. It's very short.
    Stun is not great. It targets Fortitude which most enemies have decent saves in. It only becomes AoE at Stasis Field. It's only real advantage is that Stasis Field doesn't count as Mind Affecting.
    Stun Droid is fantastic. It's super cheap of force points and just trivializes droids. It unfortunately targets Fortitude, but it's so cheap you can spam it until it sticks. It also destroys the jedi stasis pods during the Malak fight.
    Force Immunity is useful on all classes as force powers can target any save. It's most useful on the Star Forge as the infinite jedi spam powers at you and so does Malak.
    Force Push is best kept at Whirlwind for a stun that targets Reflex. Force Wave does mediocre damage and spreads enemies out, making it harder to kill them.
    Force Breach has one use, which is stripping Malaks force resistance, just in case you want to spend and eternity trying to kill him with force powers instead of melee. Yes, even Consulars are better spec'd 2-weapon fighting melee. Force powers in Kotor1 suck for damage.
    Almost all characters should be 2-weapon fighting optimally. The only characters who shouldn't are Mission, Jolee, and HK-47. Mission needs the attack from Dualing. Jolee is more of a force caster and doesn't have the available feats and stats for 2-weapon fighting. Blasters suck unless you buy the very expensive DLC heavy weapons, so HK-47 either does no damage or you waste money for him to do decent damage.
    Lightsaber Throw has awful scaling.
    Drain does pitiful damage and healing. Dearh Field is also really late. Drain is only useful for draining the jedi during the Malak fight.
    Lightning is awful. You don't get the full AoE until 18. The damage is mediocre. It's an average of 35 per round. It not hard to get lightsaber hits to deal an average of 35, so Lightning only becomes worth using if it hits a minimum of 5 targets. It does target Will, which means it's less likely to be saved against as Kotor1 enemies have awful Will saves.
    Fear is very good. Targets Will and stuns almost anything that isn't a droid for very few force points. It's a better defense than Defense is.

    Also Choke is better than Kill. Unlike Kill, Choke is power that can be used to debuff / nerf a single enemy's defense and saving throws. Choke is even better than Plague since Choke can stack while Plague does not. If you are a consular, you use Horror for crowd controlling and Force Whirlwind or Choke for single bosses.
    Force Breach is for final Sith bosses on Koriban and Malak i think. Its the powers you would acquire if you want to beat Malak by force powers.
    Also if you are a consular, just have Mission and Juhani on your party and go for gunslinger build on your main character (but with maximum wisdom instead dex). Master Speed + Dual Pistols / Heavy gun from Yalvin are better than spamming force lightning. If you dont like guns then using dual lightsabers / double lightsaber / baragwin blades with master speed is still better than spamming force lightning.
    From my experience, force lightning drains your Force points really quickly but doesnt finish your enemies more quickly than dual lightsabers / double lightsaber / baragwin blades + master speed OR dual pistols / heavy gun + master speed.
    As a consular, you need powers like
    1) Insanity for crowd control (Statis Field is not bad but Insanity is checked against will save and available earlier in game)
    2) Force Whirlwind and/or Choke for stunning single bosses (these 2 force powers bypass mind affecting immunity and force immunity: paralysis. Force Whirlwind is checked against reflex save while Choke is checked against fortitude saves. Choke is my recommendation since it can debuff your enemy. However the downside of choke are that its useless against droids and its debiliating effect lasts only 6 seconds and doesnt push mob enemies back in comparision to 12 seconds of Whirlwind and its pushing back effect on mob enemies. The downside of Whirlwind is that Rancors &Terentateks are immune against it)
    3) Master Valor for buffing your force powers and your teammates' attributes
    4) Master Speed (this needs no explaination. Its considered to be the best force power in game. Force Lightning does not finish your enemies more quickly than a combo of Master Speed and good weapons even though Force Lightning is an aoe power)
    5) Plague for debuffing single bosses
    6) Force Breach you would get when you are near the end of the game.
    If you can aquire more force powers, Disable Droids and Cure should be your picks (Disable Droids is useful in certain situations. Cure is mostly for helping your party members who engage in direct hand 2 hand combat while you can stay back to use force powers + guns)
    You should have a Jedi companion who can spam Force Push / Force Wave to push single bosses back and then throw adhesive grenade towards them if all your force powers (Insanity, Whirlwind, Choke) cant stun boss enemies. Besides Force Wave, your jedi companion should acquire other useful force powers that your main character doesnt invest in (buffs like improved energy resistance).
    If you find hitting insanity too repetitive, Zaalbar is your best melee fighter in terms of stunning your enemies with critical strikes. You can have him on the party instead of Mission.
    If you want to have most force powers and most force points, you should finish Taris at level 2. If you like having some sneak attack bonuses, level 5 scoundrel / level 15 consular would be the best.

  • @mtcp122
    @mtcp122 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I'm surprised you put so little stock in Improved Energy Resistance. It DOES work against lightsabers and lasts 6 times as long as Force Armor which means you're more able to free up force points and multiple rounds to either refresh Valor or just attack. If you're a Guardian I've always found it to be a must pick since you're weaker to things like stun and fear, but will help you and your party resist the type of damage those enemies can push out since they're lightsaber based.
    If you pair it with Zaalbar and get him improved toughness on top of Wookie toughness, anything equal to or less thank 19 damage won't hurt him if it's effected by energy resistance. It can cancel out power attack/blast or most, if not all, the damage from a critical hit bonus.

    • @vinhbao9738
      @vinhbao9738 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zaalbar is the best tank available on Taris but after the first planet, you should replace him with Canderous or Juhani. They are better melee fighters. Canderous works as a distraction so that you can carry out sneak attacks on bosses since Canderous is the tankiest in your party while Juhani deals the most melee damage due to master speed and light sabers with good crystals but cant tank as much damage as Canderous can.

    plague isn't completely impossible to save against it just requires a minimum fortitude of 80+ to resist it....and yes there is one character that is capable of reaching a fortitude that high - Darth Sion on Korriban depending on what level you are when you visit him. his sith assassins as well have ridiculously high saves too. then there are also the visions of Malak/Revan/Kreia/and the Mandalorians in the tomb of Ludo Kreesh that have saves of 90+ and Kreia and Revan go as high as 101

      sentinel sucks as a jedi class. Jedi Guardian can do force jumps that can down Malak in 2 hits if you have baragwin blade (plus Sneak Attack plus Master Speed) while Jedi Consular has more force powers & force points that can set up more tactical plays.

    My go for on the guardian powers are Master Speed like you. Though I go with Heal, Speed, Wave, Saber Throw, and immunity. I make my own custom soldier attributes to have greater wisdom. Because Revan is strong in the force. I prefer to have characters that are versatile. Master Force Speed is a must have for a Jedi Guardian or an offensive character Jedi. Juhani and Bastila lack defensive ability so they need force attacks or powers to level the field.

  • @Astragoth2
    @Astragoth2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    let me elaborate on plague. It reduces all physical attributes by 12. This includes constitution. This means they are going to lose 6 hitpoints per level they have. At max level this is 120 hitpoints! Plague is the most damaging forcepower in the game, unless the target has more then 240 max hitpoints, when kill becomes more effective.

    • @GamingYourOwnWay
      @GamingYourOwnWay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, you're partially right, they lose vitality points due to plague but it doesn't actually deal them damage. Damaging their constitution temporarily reduces their max health rather than damaging their current health. The big difference being once plague wears off, they get all of those vitality points back because their constitution goes back to normal. Not trying to throw any shade on plague, it's definitely a good power, just wanted to make that clarification.

      Plaque is essential for Consular types especially if you're thinking of going toe to toe with Malak in the star forge and the Tarentaleks on Korriban you need to lower their stats or they'll just roll over you. I'd take it as a LS consular as well you have the force points if you've put enough points into wisdom and charisma

    Best Force powers for Jedi Guardian: Heal (one click to heal all party members instead of 3 clicks), Speed (2 more attacks are great)
    Force Immunity is good. But mind affecting immunity items should give you & your party members an easier time to fight against Siths since these items negate area of effect power like horror. Also with mind affecting immunity items being already equiped on my teammates, i can use a tatic of throwing concussion grenades to stun my enemies without worrying about teammates.
    Granted other dark side powers like force choke and life drain could still be used against you and your party members but force choke is an attack against a single target meaning that your other party members can do damage on the attacker while the attacker uses force choke on a single target. If that single target is by chance someone who has force immunity then it makes things easier for your teammates. When i have force immunity activated, Siths try to use offensive powers on me but fail and i have my teammates make a quick work of them. The only annoying darks side power is life drain so force immunity is the most viable counter to that dark side force power. There is also a belt that makes you immune to eletrical attack but i dont find that item to be useful throughout the game until the fight against Bastilla since she uses force lightning.
    Valor is not top tier since what it does is amplifying other force powers (like Heal), makes your and your teammates saving throws higher and helps you in persuasion checks. I'd place valor below Heal, Speed, Force Immunity in terms of usefulness in combat situation. Heal has more practicality in combat because Heal can stack while Valor doesnt. I'd even say that stimulants are better buffs since valor can be activated only by one person in the team for 20 second making the other two that have valor less useful.
    Plague is good only in drawn out fight with very few bosses since it lowers their defense making them easier to be hit. Its not that great power for a guardian to choose. One click with stimulant activated is still better than one click with plague.
    I think that there is a way you can bug your buffs to stay active permantly and equip an amour after having your buffs activated.
    Also if you want to have the most balanced split between force powers and feats , dont level up on Taris after your player reaches level 4 or 5.

    • @vinhbao9738
      @vinhbao9738 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if you are a Jedi Guardian, equip Jolee or Bastilla with sonic pistols use one of them as your spellcaster. Horror is easily the best aoe force power. Its available much sooner than light side aoe force power. As for bosses who have high will saves or mind affecting immunity items, people also tend to choose force whirlwind and its a good power that bypass will save/mind affecting immunity items. However there are bosses with high reflex saves that can still save against Force Whirlwind. Therefore you should have a Jedi companion who can spam force push/force wave then throw adhesive grenade towards them. This tactic would give your enemy less breathing space to do any of their attack EVEN when they save against your force push/ force wave.

    Fear is better than stun because the duration is longer. Slowing NPCs is basically worthless in this game. The only time I might want it is cheesing Marl with mines in the Taris dueling ring at level 2, but you don't have force powers for that. We just use an alacrity stim instead.

    As someone playing a LS Scout/Consular that don't use Dark powers, Force Breach is not used often, but it's a must. I use Stasis Field for CC and Force Whirlwind against enemies immune to Mind-Affectiing powers, like Malak himself.
    Usually buffs, followed by CC, followed by Improved Flurry works wonders.

    • @ProfBrunoClemente
      @ProfBrunoClemente 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, I leave Force powers that don't rely on Wisdom or Charisma to Bastila, while she uses Valor on the whole party, I CC enemies way more effectively.

  • @Dragon_Lair
    @Dragon_Lair 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I actually like Improved Energy Resistance.
    It is 2 minutes of you and your party just taking less damage from most types of damage AND being immune to poison. Kinrath Cave? Whole party is immune to poison. Selkath? Their sonic guns basically do nothing. Sith? Feel free to ignore a chunk of damage from Force Lightning.
    I think it even applies to Energy Damage (even if it doesn't say so). It definitely reduces energy damage in The Sith Lords so having it means almost all the droids damage on Peragus is 0, just the melee ones can hurt you.
    It may feel situational but it actually is basically having an energy shield up that doesn't run out after taking a certain amount of damage, has a relative low force power cost so the force points regenerate long before you ever have to use it again because of its 2 minute timer.

I still want to be able to wear armour and quite like the idea of being a Jedi warrior that focuses on lightsaber skills and all the powers not restricted by armour like healing and stun powers (but not the dark side ones). All in all my character and his role playing opportunities are quite strange as his main lightsaber is blue but his offhand is red.🤣

  • @Thelonous
    @Thelonous 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Insanity > Stasis Field
    Horror is available at level 6 (immediately upon becoming a Jedi), and has an AoE effect.
    Stasis is available at level 9 and has no AoE effect; the dangerous enemies that are immune to stun/fear, are typically immune to paralysis as well (Force Immune)
    Insanity is available at level 12
    Stasis Field is available at level 15, more accurately level 16 or 17, because it fights for priority with Master Speed and Master Valor. (Master Valor must be selected by the Main Character to benefit from it when forcefully separated from your party; the Malak encounter is a key example, the same reason Force Breach is generally a Main Character only Power)
    On the note of Saves, threatening humanoid enemies tend to have slightly higher Will than Fortitude, or are equal. Beasts have notably higher Fortitude. Neither Powers affect droids, making their high Fortitude irrelevant for this debate.
    The primary reason Stasis Field is considered a subpar choice is because of the level it becomes available, especially when compared to Horror rather than Insanity. It can be a solid selection for a companion, but very rarely for the main character.

  • @TheTdroid
    @TheTdroid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Defense becomes virtually irrelevant eventually. Between damage resistance, blaster bolt deflection and the BBEG having a whopping +38 to accuracy, it's going to take quite the build to use Defense effectively after leaving Dantooine.
    Of course, this generally works out in the player's favor. If there's no effective difference between having 15 and 35 Defense, even strength based characters might as well go with robes to have all Force powers available.

      I would definitely run Plague since it can't be resisted (except by force resist), and force breach (except that does use a LOT of force points, so be wary of that), definitely force immunity, force wave would be good, and the passive powers like valor and speed are essential

      Hopefully it's going well!! Also forgot to mention that valor is very nice to have, but your character doesn't necessarily need to be the one to have it, it affects the whole party so any jedi in the party can use it

      @@GamingYourOwnWay Light side guardian is better than Dark side if you can bug your buffs to stay activated permantly. After activating all the buffs, you can equip an armour to make your player defense higher.

      No, it must be a ranged or melee attack, force powers don't count

      Depending on your alignment, different force powers can cost more force points (DS powers cost more for LS characters), to negate this you can build a character with high charisma.

    question, im going to fight malak to end the game but my force power use too much bar, so what do i did wrong?? example i heal myself with force power 3 times and then i dont have any force power left, i needed more wisdom or inteligence or what?

    • @GamingYourOwnWay
      @GamingYourOwnWay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Partially, Wisdom determines how many force points you have. Additionally, depending on your force alignment, if you are going down the dark path, light side powers like Heal will cost additional force points. Charisma helps reduce this penalty for using a light power as a dark jedi.

      @@billcipher9068 The damage done by force powers is usually determined by level. However, in the second game, some forms do increase power damage.
