Talking about show memes, it reminds me of one in the show that I’m in. I’m in Newsies, and one of Jack’s lines in the middle of the fight scene after Seize the Day is “Cheese it, fellas. It’s the bulls.” Honestly it’s one of the dumbest lines in the whole show, but it’s hilarious. So now every once in a while someone will say, “Bulls it, cheese it. It’s the fellas.”
I cannot tell you how much I adore memes and inside jokes within casts, I have some of the best ones from high school theatre, I'm so glad you have that bond with your cast too
kat i love that you’re a musical theatre stan but you’re also interested in so many other things. it makes me feel more comfortable in this community knowing that i can still stan theatre without wanting to pursue a career in it.
I think I have two favorite costumes. I loved my costume for "Fiddler on the Roof", because just putting on the skirt immediately got me into character. There was just something about it that made finding my character easier. My second favorite was a dress I wore for the first song of "My Favorite Year." I had never worn anything that sparkly or sleeveless before and I felt pretty damn gorgeous in it. Also, the fact that when I tried it on for our first costume fitting, all the girls in my dressing room went "GUUUURRRRL YOU LOOK GOOD IN THAT" so that was a nice confidence boost. :3
Kath, you dont happen to have any tips on training your voice for belting?? I have theories about what my senior year musical will be and I really want to impress my director
Hey, I'm obviously not Kat, but definitely try to get some voice lessons! Belting is great to be able to do if you learn how to do it safely without hurting your voice. Break a leg!

You are so right with the theatre memes. Honestly sometimes they make no sense but they are literally the funniest things in the world. I was in legally blonde a few summers ago and we made all the boys in the cast do the bend and snap and one of them was like surprisingly really good and it was such a meme. Also we drew calling an in many different ways. Ex. Christmas Callahan, Easter Callahan. America callihan. There was a whole callihan thing and it kills me to this day

That experience will make people more willing to cast you in college shows; you can also look for a community theatre to get more experience, which can lead to more connections. Those two things can really help you out. Oh one more thing!! Try backstage.com if you want to find more professional stuff.
Seize any opportunity for roles, obviously make sure that you'll have the time and its manageable in your schedule. But just look for community theater productions and maybe some professional ones? Ik I like to audition for my cities (professional) theater, even if you dont get cast, your name is now in the minds of professional directors and such, so that helps, getting your name passed through the grapevine.

When I was in LLL, the meme of the cast was "Did I not dance with you in Brabant once?" and we all still have continued these meme 3 years later LOL We made cast sweaters with that line on the back and everything- we went all out haha
vidcon is such such such a blast! it's quite alot of people yes but its all quite spread out so it never feels congested. I went the past two years and I 100% recommend it. I also may be holding a musical theatre meetup there next year, for theatre kids to meet more theatre kids :)
Funny story about kissing on stage: I was the stage manager for our high school production of The Importance of Being Earnest. We get to the scene at the end where everybody is coupling up and everything is happy. Our director had every person kiss after they said the name of their significant other. Well, we’re in rehearsals and are running the scene for the first time and the director tells them to just go for it. After Chausable and Prism kiss, the guy pulls back and yells out “HASHTAG FIRST KISS”. The whole cast and crew just cracked up😂
My first kiss was a stage kiss too! It was super awkward because I was a very terrified sophomore and the guy was a really popular senior and we didn’t have a whole lot in common. Also he REALLY went for it so that was way too much for me to handle 😂
Kylee Malaguti-Cool, the theatre group I'm in are going to be performing Annie as well next year in March, it should be interesting to see the interaction between the adults in our group & the kids as we don't often have kids performing alongside us.

i really did like the dark brown on you (mostly for winter) but the blonde is definitely a beautiful spring - summer - fall color!!
When I was in LLL, the meme of the cast was "Did I not dance with you in Brabant once?" and we all still have continued these meme 3 years later LOL We made cast sweaters with that line on the back and everything- we went all out haha

vidcon is such such such a blast! it's quite alot of people yes but its all quite spread out so it never feels congested. I went the past two years and I 100% recommend it. I also may be holding a musical theatre meetup there next year, for theatre kids to meet more theatre kids :)
Funny story about kissing on stage: I was the stage manager for our high school production of The Importance of Being Earnest. We get to the scene at the end where everybody is coupling up and everything is happy. Our director had every person kiss after they said the name of their significant other. Well, we’re in rehearsals and are running the scene for the first time and the director tells them to just go for it. After Chausable and Prism kiss, the guy pulls back and yells out “HASHTAG FIRST KISS”. The whole cast and crew just cracked up😂

My first kiss was a stage kiss too! It was super awkward because I was a very terrified sophomore and the guy was a really popular senior and we didn’t have a whole lot in common. Also he REALLY went for it so that was way too much for me to handle 😂

Kylee Malaguti-Cool, the theatre group I'm in are going to be performing Annie as well next year in March, it should be interesting to see the interaction between the adults in our group & the kids as we don't often have kids performing alongside us.
