I do the exact same tips he's giving. I was flipping through records looking for some Canned Heat records. The guy across from me, looking for records also, handed me a Canned Heat record that I've been looking for. That was serendipity at it finest. (Nicest guy) 😊👍

I love your five tips specially the last one, that's so important. I have 5 tips myself I always use specially to get good cheap rare records when you don't know the name of the band or artist. 1.Avoid facial hair: If you don't know the band don't get a record if the members have any facial hair, cause you could be buying a boogie rock album or worst, a soft rock album, wont be punk or punk related. 2.Look at the name of the producer and band members. Know the names. Maybe the record you are holding is a early or later band or offshoot from an artist, style or band you like. 3.Avoid disco records unless you know that's a disco classic. Good funk albums are from the early 70's or from the middle 80s. Again, look at the hair, if hairstyle and fashion looks like Prince, get it. 4.Get anything hip hop or electronic, if it says synths, and songs are long it's probably an experimental album, so get that. 5.Look at the cover if it looks psychedelic or has skulls, probably it's something heavy.

    What he basically said
    5. Check the vinyl itself. If it’s warped,
don’t cop it. If it’s sealed, and it’s warp, don’t play the record.
    4. Quality, not quantity
    3. “Research” that vinyl copy. Not all versions are worth a fortune. There’s lots of copies of the same album. You should probably wait and find a clean copy.
    2. Thrift as much as you can.
    1. Make friends.

Tip #1 thru #5….Stay home unless you’re looking for Perry Como and Dolly Parton Christmas albums. I’ve never seen anything worth buying in any of my local thrift stores. 😉

Not a thrift store, but my local record store in Tacoma WA, has about 30 used copies of Aerosmith-Rocks (my favorite by them). The few that were in the best condition had a $20 price tag. I mean, for a couple of buck extra, I can buy a brand new repress. I find it ridiculous.

I’ve been to the thrift stores in Tacoma. The prices are crazy! In general Washington seems to over price records at thrift stores.

Hey just discovered your channel. I’ve done thrift shopping for a bit and I agree with you check the vinyl. Not necessarily for warp but that the record exists in the cover. I picked up a copy of Seals and Croft’s Diamond Girl. Took a look at the vinyl and it was pristine. Took it home and ready for a clean, read the label. It was Seals and Croft’s but it was there Greatest Hits Now I didn’t mind but it’s not what I bought. Read the label :). Great video. Peace love and rock and roll ✌️btw. I subscribed
