How to Power Cycle / Hard Reset your XBox One X

- Hi, this video shows you how to power cycle your Xbox One X, it is also called a 'Hard Reset', 'Full Reboot' or 'Cold Reset'.
It is very simple to do and can solve many issues. I show 2 ways of doing it so if your screen has completely frozen then you can still do the physical reset.

Hey Vince, I just wanted to say a big Thank You, since the February 2018 update my Xbox One X had an issue reading games that were already installed into the hard drive and would give me some form of an error message, I desperately searched the internet for advice when I came across your video, not only is my One X running faster, my discs aren't having the error message pop up. I know its over a year ago you wrote this, but after you reset your xbox, did you get the problem soon after, or you didnt get the error messages again?
@@Mymatevincei had to do it to mine twice because 1 i had a weird colored screen it was dark and blurry and i had to go down the physical route but when i did the physical way i had to unplug the hdmi cable and it helped alot

I'm with you there bro got tje cyberpunk edition xbox1 x for xmas and it would not let me play fallout 3 so I did a hard reset and the xbox went into a mode would not restart so I had to reset it but choose to keep the game and it works better now than before

I think I have the same problem if you could please help me it's when I turn the Xbox on it takes long time to load and when it pops up the green Xbox logo it will blink a few times and repeat the green boot up screen it used to be quick and smooth it's not an old Xbox either.

Hey Vince I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my Xbox One X. It was working fine before and now when I turned it on, the tv didn’t read the Xbox and recognise it. After ages I did a display reset (held down eject and power button until I heard 2 beeps) and guess what? I could see my Xbox! But now, I could only see it in the lowest res. (640p). So, every time I change the res in the settings, the tv screen goes black, until I go back to the same res. I’ve tried my tv and my monitor, and different HDMI cables. It has something to do with the Xbox and the T.V not reading each other probably. Any help would be received with ALOT of appreciation.

A good tip for anyone with an Xbox that won't turn back on. Make sure it's plugged in to a wall outlet and not an extension cord that has a surge protector in it. My Xbox One X wouldn't turn back on after I did a reset (as I'm trying to get a failed update controller to work). After plugging in to the wall, my Xbox turned back on.

My one X is still busted, I was playing Forza when red went onto blue and it was very pixelated, it is now locked up and black screen. No signal

Hello can give some advice not sure if its normal. I full shutdown my xbox one x and unplug the power. When I try to turn it back on I can use my controller to power it up and it works but my issue is my controller shows flashing while the xbox one x boots up normally. Means my controller cannot be sync after it loads up and I need to on and off my controller to sync it back again. Is this normal? The controller only works if just like the basic normal shutdown/sleep mode type. But full shutdown and unplugging the controller can only turn on my console but the sync or controller connection is just flashing. Last time I waited for 10mins then the controller sync again. To fasten I just off the controller and turn it back on and it works.

Having trouble with my Xbox one S controller is not reading the headsets I have three controllers that will not sync up with headphones .You can use The controllers but not with that headphones . If all your troubleshooting’s don’t work should I return the system and get a new one it’s still under warranty?

Help...This morning I could play games but kept getting the Error 80070490. I couldnt access my Xbox Home Screen but when I pressed the Xbox button on my controller the side panel would show up. My Xbox One X is stuck on the Green restart loading screen. I am reading it's the Green Screen of Death. I've tried several hard resets but it just gets stuck on that green screen and never goes anywhere. Any tips are welcomed!

Whenever I use the controller to turn on the console after a full shutdown, the console does startup but my controller continues to blink and does not sync back up with the console. The sync buttons are useless when this happens. Do you know what is causing this problem?

Noobyz Fortnite It might be a bad hard drive, Vince got that problem not long ago while repairing an original Xbox one, to open it you have to void the warranty. Better send it in for free than mess with it. If the warranty is up, just like everything, you can get it repaired with a fee.

Hi i bought my a few months ago. My battlefield 5 edition(if this model also has this effect) Xbox one x was not turning on and it was hot for reason! I didn’t play since yesterday or 24 hours ago. My friend i have a serious problem, after turning on my XBOX ONE X the green screen keeps loading for more than 5 minutes and after that it gives my black screen i cant open the menu or see it..after many time it works good, I cleared the cashe then retarted it and it gave me the same result green 5 min then black screen, do you have any selution please.
I doubt a hard reset is 100% the same as a full shutdown!
Also don't do a hard reset when there is no reason for.

I got a Xbox one x and no matter how I shut down whether it’s instant on or full shutdown it’s still giving out power via usb why is that, why when my PS4 is turned off it’s off and not giving out power but my Xbox is like it’s still burning electricity when it’s off even after a full shut down?

@@Mymatevince I did everything. I even selected when Xbox off shut down hard drive. Nothing worked. When I shut down my PS4 slim, the external hard drive power off with the console.

No one has to accept FR like in PSN whoever you add it will automatically just add them but they won’t see when you are online because they didn’t had you so they would be your friend but you would be listed to them as a follower until they add you and you will be both friend and follower if you understand what I’m saying

Thanks. If you do get a chance to do a video it would be appreciated. Some people are saying there’s are whisper quiet. Mine in comparison to my PS4 Pro is quieter. I think the fan noise sounds like rotating bearings.

Hey, I don't know as the store just replaced it for me. I would guess it was the PSU as it was completely dead but I can't be sure.
My Mate VINCE that makes sense! I'm disappointed by Microsoft though. Yes I understand that it is at times you need to cut corners...but not with a psu. I had also seen that this fancy thermal paste they've used isn't the best either.

I had seen a strip down of a brand new NEVER BEEN POWERED ON xbox 1 x and the youtuber reviled that the thermal paste on the gpu was dry and flaking off!
Now I do agree that 9/10 errors or malfunctions is human related but that does not mean the console isn't at fault either, Also yes I do see the argument about the surge protecter but again I have seen more powerful PC's with an internal protector run just fine on an external surge protecter (just don't use cheap shit).
Also I have used a surge protecter on a Dialysis machine. FUCKING MEDICAL EQUIPMENT THAT MUST BE KEPT ON AT ALL TIMES!!!!! I'm sorry but I fail to see why using a good external surge protector would reduce the power flow to a video game console, cheap ones yes but not good ones.
