    Beautiful aerial footage. must be an inspiring experience each and every time you fly over the canyons and mountains. Coming from the vastly smaller UK, it's hard to mentally compute just how massive the landmass is; the US is Approximately nearly 4000% bigger than UK... So much beautiful and diverse environments.
    Stunning 6x17 image too.

      Thanks, I appreciate that! You're right, it never gets old flying over the canyons of the southwest. It's also really interesting to see the landscape change as I'm flying to Utah from the eastern US. Definitely a vast and varied country!

      Thanks!! It’s been my favorite airport to land at so far.

      That Monument valley field would be fun 😀

    Sure is a bumpy road eh? The pano turned out great, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in Neon. It has been years since I’ve been there, and I’ve never seen it during the fall. 👍

      I had some water in a bottle strapped to my backpack. On the drive in, the roughness of the road caused so much vibration it rubbed a hole in the bottle and water got on nearly everything...except the film thank goodness!!

    the most jealous thing for me is.... you are a pilot...absolutely wanna do this too. Hope you had much fun out there and could take some beautiful images. Enjoy the right.

      It’s a blast flying and seeing the world that way! This year’s trip was SO much fun! I was really grateful to be able to fly out there this year.

    I always look forward to your journeys Alan. Thanks for sharing. Have you ever discussed the costs involved in flying your plane to Utah and back? I am very curious to know. Thank you.

    • @AlanBrockImages
      @AlanBrockImages  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t discussed that yet, but if I am able to split the cost with others it’s about the same as commercial. When it’s just a solo trip, it is a bit more expensive than a commercial flight. Of course, I’m able to bring along MUCH more gear flying myself!

    There is always something artistic and inspring in the way you do things. I was just in that area last week, seeing your footages brings back lots of good memories. Please explore aerial photography and digital. For the time that you are already up in the sky and travel to the locations, let make more out of it by aerial and digital photography :) mostly just for people like me to appreciate.

      Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate that! I have really thought about getting a longer lens for some aerial photography. With the windows arranged like they are on my airplane, it can be a bit tough to get good angles on aerial subjects. Definitely something worth exploring though.

      Thanks! I had some film flatness issues on this trip but I really enjoy the format. I’ll keep working with it and hopefully start to better visualize what makes a good pano composition.

      Alan Brock Images film 🎞 flatness issues with the 6x17 back?

    • @bthemedia
      @bthemedia 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you use a separate ground glass to focus the 6x17 back vs 4x5 back? I think mine requires different focus.

    • @AlanBrockImages
      @AlanBrockImages  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bthemedia Yeah, I’m pretty sure. I had a few shots where the left side wasn’t as sharp as the right. It was intermittent (in some cases in back to back shots on the same scene) where some images were completely sharp and others were soft on the left side. Film flatness is all I can think of.

    Have you ever considered getting into aerial photography? I know it wouldn't work with film, but it seems like a perfect marriage for you to do. Well, mainly I'd just love to watch you try it so I can learn :)

      I have thought about it a bit, but my plane really isn’t the best for any aerial work. I need to find one where I can remove the doors for flight. Those make the best photography planes.

    As a pilot you know that you never have to take into account any "curvature of the Earth", nor "rotation", because there isn't. All your senses are telling you : it's flat and stationnary. God is the Creator. In Christ we trust.

    • @AlanBrockImages
      @AlanBrockImages  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Explain to me how stars rotate counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern. All of my senses most certainly do NOT tell me it’s flat and stationary. I use a telescope on a regular basis. The equatorial mount I use tracks the sky perfectly; this is only possible on a sphere. I’ve photographed, in their entirety, 2 lunar eclipses in the past 4 years, and I’ve seen the curved shadow in the moon. Again, only possible on a sphere. As a pilot, on long trips, I’ve watched my plane trace a slight arc on the GPS as it follows a great circle route…because the closest distance between two points in a sphere is a great circle and not a line.

      As usual, all flat earthers run away and hide.
