- In the 867 start date, The Pagan Viking Norse rule the north in Crusader Kings 3! But what if I told you that there is one Viking that has the power to STEAL the crown of the Byzantine Emperor, and claim all of Byzantium for the Vikings, creating an incredibly powerful VARANGIAN EMPIRE? That's right, none other than the LEGEND Dyre the Stranger! Grandson of legendary Ragnarr Lothbrok!
So that's what we're going to explore today! As Koifish will play as the soon to be Viking Emperor of Byzantium, one of the strongest and most broken Viking PAGAN Norse starts in all of CK3! Dyre the Stranger starts with incredibly good stats, a small host and is situated perfectly close to the Byzantine Empire to take it over from the inside out!
I will be using all the tips and tricks and strategies that I went over in my CK3 Lifestyle guide series, mainly focusing on Martial and Learning! I'm also playing with all the current CK3 DLC, Including Northern Lords, Royal Court, Fate of Iberia and Tours and Tournaments and Legacy of Persia!
In this video I also use a strategy that I showcased in my Diplomacy Lifestyle Guide video! Diplomacy is the first out of five different Lifestyle focuses that you can pick for your character in Crusader Kings 3. But how GOOD is it? It's absolutely BROKEN! And in that guide I will teach you how to exploit diplomacy to conquer all of Scandinavia WITHOUT a single war! But in this video, I instead use the insanely powerful method of swearing vassalage to your enemy, and eating his realm from the inside!

I did something similar thing in CK2 back in the day. I created my own Viking dynasty and set out and conquered Crimea and began the kingdoms of Suðragautland and Hreiðgotaland and one of their descendants joined the Varangian Guard, seduced a Byzantine princess who we maneuvered to become heir and then sized the Byzantine Empire. It was good fun. Had intended to make and AAR about it but CBF hehe

About halfway through the video when you're fighting off 5,000 troops with your about 2500, You could have had your army just wait right next to them, until they siege down just enough to conquer it and then move in. This way they suffer more attrition and you can recuperate.
