In today's video I am sharing with you what I eat in a month, where I try new recipes, explore flavours and get prepped for the week ahead.
For me sustainable living is always about cooking from scratch where possible, valuing what you own, introducing minimalist ideals by keeping our space free of unwanted items and lowering our waste wherever possible. Zero waste living is something I strive for. Meal prepping for autumn, learning new skills and minimising wherever I can. I hope you enjoy this calm cooking video!

I am a pensioner, with mobility issues. Got back to the gym twice a week, , in 3 months I challenged myself to do 5 k walk, for a charity. Did it in 50 minutes. The last one I did was 25 years ago. Felt so proud of myself, as prior to this really struggled with walking. Carrying on going to the gym. I had a lot of family support.x

Hydration-tip:1) let your smartwatch remind you every hour to drink some water
2)make hibiscustea, let it cool down and freeze it into ice cubes, it colours your water in beautiful pink shades without adding calories.
    3) drink a glass of water before every little thing you eat!
    Best wishes from Austria

Hey, maybe your waterintake is just fine! I mean, you're plantbased and even something as dry as bread has up to 40%water. I wouldn't put to much pressure on myself. Drink a glass to every meal and snack and when you wake up, and always when you're thirsty. And you should be just fine :)

For drinking water, I have one water bottle that I use everyday and take with me wherever I go, even around the house. I like the straw attachment for water bottles because you can keep your eyes focused on what you’re doing and still drink water. In the summer I like to make iced tea (no sugar) and add frozen berries for extra flavor, sweetness, and cold

So my suggestion to go along with everyones wonderful ideas for flavoring the water is finding a cup that you not only really like looking at but also feel textually interesting. I know you dont like clutter, and you tend to keep to a lower consumer mentality, but its worth it in the way that you're more likely to hold it, and if you're already holding it, you're more likely to drink it. Made all the difference for me. I hope that helps.

My best tip for drinking water is have a bottle you like and keep it next to you all the time. I always have mine next to my bed/on my desk while I'm working and if I travel I usually take it with me too. As it's right next to me it means I just drink without thinking and it builds the habit really easily :)

When I lived in Colorado I had to switch to body oil/shea butter instead of lotions and facial oils for washing my face because my skin was so dry. I had a large water bottle that I made myself finish by 11, refill, finish another at 2, and the final by 5pm.

I live in Idaho (dry, hot, and at altitude), and recently brought my sourdough starter on a trip to Minnesota (humid, slightly cooler, and basically at sea level). In regards to drinking more water, one of the habits I’ve kept up for a few months now is what I call “morning hydration outside time”. When I first wake up, I fill up a cup (mug for me) with water and go outside… and stay outside until I finish it. I do this first thing in the morning. It gets me outside and my digestive system appreciates starting off with a cup of water. Sometimes I refill it and have more outside time, but sometimes I do just one. This feels like the habit stack stuff you like Immy 😊. Hope this helps!

Maybe it‘s not the healthiest tip when it comes to drinking more, but what I like to do, is cooking a tasty sirup out of local fruit & put a tiny bit of the sirup in my water. Then I get slowly back into the habbit of drinking more and mostly don‘t miss the sirup anymore.

Altitude affects it too. When at higher temperatures, you add more liquid. When closer to sea level, you reduce liquid a bit, as the humidity in the air does affect your bread.

Some hydration tips from someone who went from chronically dehydrated for years. Many years. To someone who now drinks 10 plus cups of water per day... 1) Start the day off with water. My first drink of the day is a fiber supliment with 2 cups of water. Im getting older, so very helpful. But it could also be a few cups of lemon water or ginger tea, etc. 2) Use a larger water bottle or mason jar or whatever you already have or can thrift.. Mine is 32 oz and I drink 2 of these a day. Combined with the fiber drink (or your morning drink of choice), it's easy to hit ten cups a day and often more. 3) Keep track of your water consumption throughout the day. Either in a notebook or bullet journal or on a habit tracker on your phone ( I use HabitShare) or just put a chart on your fridge or where you work throughout the day. I had to keep a food journal because of illness, and just seeing the section of the journal that had the water tracker was extreemly helpful to motivate me to get to a good place with drinking enough. 4) I try and keep an eye on the clock and drink a cup or so an hour from when I get up, till I achieve my hydration goals. I also give myself a chunk of time from the late afternoon into the evening where I don't drink too much, so I dont have to pee throughout the night. 5) Keep your water bottle beside you throughout the day. Goodluck from Vancouver.

Drinking more water: I use my reusable water bottle around the house! It’s insulated so keeps it cool, and has a straw so drinking feels like less of an effort. I fill it up before I go to bed and put it by the side of the bed, so the first thing I do in the morning is drink some. I also have a goal to drink three full bottles a day so I have something to aim for. Hope this helps!

So for water…I use a double walled steel cup w a straw and a handle. It always is filled with ice bc I don’t like anything but ice cold water. Those things help. The other thing that helps is my husband fills up my cup in the morning for me and when he come home from work too. He’s essentially my accountability partner for water. I also periodically drink a liquid IV. I live in the desert so I can also easily get dehydrated

A lovely TH-camr I watched today was talking about what you can dehydrate. She said lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit are great to dehydrate in slices. She has them every day in her tea. • @lesliehyde

Regarding the water intake- drink a glass of it in the morning when you wake up, with any meals that you eat, before anytime you are going out for a while (not in your backyard), while you are out, when you come back inside from being outside and finally, before going to bed. You are aiming at getting between ½ to a full gallon of water each day or enough for your urine to be ever so slightly clear yellow.
A word of caution- make sure to get in enough electrolytes (sodium, potassium and magnesium) with drinking this amount of water in a day.

I use marbles. 1 marble for 1 glass of water and I strive for minimum 10 glasses of water a day. So I use two little cups, starting in the morning with one without any marble and the other one with 10 marbles & everytime I drink a glass of water, I transfer a marble. For me that helps to get enough water in 😊

Biggest tip for drinking more water I could give is to emotionally bond with a water bottle that you really enjoy drinking from!! By this I mean invest in a stainless steel, possibly cute-colored water bottle that is pleasant and easy to drink out of (big fan of the Owala), and carry it everywhere with you. Now if I leave it anywhere I am deeply sad. I fill it up with ice water probably 3-4 times a day and find myself drinking mindlessly from it!

Chronically dehydrated tips: less raw food, less dry food (pretzels, toast, granola, crisps, etc), emphasize moist foods (porridge, sweet potato, soups, stews, etc), minimize fermented foods. Also - massage warm oil (sesame is great) to your body once a day (before bed is great if you have a difficult time sleeping). Let the oil sit for 15 or more minutes (read, pray, meditate, listen to a book), dab off as much as you can with a towel just for this purpose, and then shower or bathe. I do this every night, and then once a week I do it to my hair. It's called Abhyanga and it REALLY helps with dry skin ... but also with calming the body and brain down.

Honestly, I can only drink sparkling water. Plain water just does not feel good. I don't crave taste, I don't want it to be sweet, just sparkiling.
Also, some tap water just does not taste good, and one instinctively avoids drinking it. I love the spring water we get from a spring (well, not so near), it also feels like it relieves thirst much more efficiently.

On the Drink front, make some cold naturally fermented Lemons and Honey. I have auto immune issues, several, which leave my mouth extremely dry. I have found that the fermented Lemons and Honey helps me an awful lot. I tend to put a couple of slices and some of the resulting syrup into a mug and pour on hot water. Very soothing for an everyday thing, and also good when you are not too well. Helps your body. If you are poorly with a bad cold or are bunged up, it is also soothing and helps keep you from being stuffed up. I usually keep the jar in a fridge but have been going through a big jar of this a week. Lemon Barley water is good to keep in the fridge as is homemade natural Lemonade without the fizz. Both very refreshing. Also Mint tea (mix the Mints up a bit if you can. I use Black Peppermint and that is also very soothing especially if you have an upset tummy. Take care and love your ideas and recipes. Tricia

As to drinking more water - I'd identify what the issue is: is it taste, is it inconvenience, etc. and then work on making it obvious, attractive, easy, and satisfying. It is certainly possible! I am that person who wouldn't drink enough water and now me and my water bottle don't part. The key is to taking it everywhere - even for trips to the store.

I just started experimenting with making the Ayurvedic dish
“Kitchiri.” I learned about it on a TH-cam video from a lady named Jeanette. (I’m forgetting the channel name right now, I apologize.) I used cardamom pods for the first time and a lot of spices. It’s very versatile and used much the same way we use chicken soup. Yum!
I dehydrated a lot of meals when I attempted the PCT a few years ago. My tip is to use extra spices because my food tasted blander after rehydrating.

Instead of drinking water (I really tried everything, just can't force myself to drink that much water as I should troughout the day) I drink rooibos tea, which I consider basically water 😅 I make myself 2 liters and let it chill, than when its summer I keep it in the fridge (I also squeeze lime or lemon in, it is amazing) and than drink that all day, I read that rooibos tea doesn't contain koffein or tanins like other teas and is safe to drink in larger amounts, and also is high in antioxidants and a lot of other good stuff, so maybe consider that😊

Re: hydrating... Make sure you're getting enough electrolytes, too. My fav electrolyte drink is a couple of limes squeezed into a glass with a pinch of salt, stevia (or sweetener of your choice), water, and ice. Also, any of the Celestial Seasonings herbal fruit teas iced are another great trick of mine.

I almost never go on instagram anymore and stopped using threads altogether. Like you, I prefer TH-cam for watching, whether long from or shorts depending on mood.
I’ve been experimenting with growing soya in the UK and since I last checked have numerous pods which I’m excited about and my blue Hopi corn is very tall already. It’s about 80°F here (27°C) today so very hot for the UK, which does mean I can grow stuff I wouldn’t normally, like dragon fruit which I’m also growing.
I use a hydration device that straps around my drinking vessel and flashes at me when it’s time to drink. If I used digital prompts I’m more inclined to ignore or snooze, so sometimes analogue is queen.

To get back into reading: if you like horror I’d highly recommend Catriona Ward. Her books are gruesome and bizarre. But I’m on my 3rd book of hers, and the non-linear story telling and layered mysteries keep you hooked.

How do you style your hair? I know your natural hair has a different curl pattern but the loose curls look so natural and relaxed!

OMG where do I start????? Okay so I drink around 4 litres of water daily. The way I got there is I bought this huge 2 litre water bottle and just filled it up every morning and tried to finish that. It was fairly easy cause I’ve always loved drinking water lol. Now I’m able to finish it twice. In fact, I’m trying to lower my water intake now cause I read that if your pee is completely clear it’s actually not healthy (sorry for the tmi lmao).
I’ve never added anything to my water, I just like its taste as it is. This 2 litre bottle is the only thing that works for me.
ALSO THE GOLDFINCH!!! Omg. I’m also in a reading slump and I’ve started this book. It’s so crazy that I watched this video today and we’re literally in the same situation 😭😂 I’m finding it hard to continue the book tho, idk if it’s cause I’m just not in the mood, or if the book isn’t as interesting as I expected it to be. But I wanna finish it, hopefully it’ll be worth it!

Ooh my habits for drinking water are ALWAYS downing (or just drinking lol) half a litre when I get up and go downstairs, like immediately, so you don't even have to think about it. Then another 500ml with every meal, and then that's at least 2L. And you'll probably drink more in between :)

And have you tried spraying your sourdough loaves with water? I’ve even some people throw an ice cube or two in a pan to increase the steam, even though the oven soring seemed okay.

Books, bagels, bread, and beautiful places… so much to love!! And can I just say YEASS to Tiny Free Libraries (from the wilderness teacher librarian who is always keen to hear more about what you’re reading). If you’re doing “100 Days of Recipes”, can I volunteer to do “100 Days of SV Recipe Testing”??🤣 Glad to hear you’re feeling better. If your latest plan for IG does not meet your expectations may I recommend “100 Days of Things That Just Feel Right”? Cuz tbh, Immy, you’re great at whatever you post!! Thanks for this awesome video. BTW, I haven’t got a fear of tests, but I am not fond of being evaluated in anything… says the gal who is currently gone back to uni. Happy August… Autumn is on its way!! Ⓜary💕

I really enjoy the novels of Barbara Kingsolver -- you might enjoy them. In order to drink more water, I actually make lots of iced caffiene free and unsweetened herbal tea which and drink those. If you haven't visited the Celestial Seasonings Tea factory in Boulder I highly recommend. :)

Hi-recognize that rice bag, life saver during covid! Re: H2O, we find that adding the liquid IV packets helps my aging husband get more water intake, he loves the taste. Mint, cucumber, and/or strawberry works for me too- Also, I know this is late but did you happen to hit up Veg Fest in DEN this weekend? We missed it 😞

I’ve started incorporating fresh juices into my day to hydrate more bc just water can make me feel a bit nauseous and more dehydrated if I’m drinking without electrolytes. I’ll cut the juices with water and feel extra baby-like 😂Maybe some electrolyte supplements like LMNT could be something to try.

Hi, from what I know, you can drink coconut water , I heard it's twice more hydrating than a plain water. Or you can add electrolytes to your water.

Maybe adding some flavour to your water will help you enjoy it more and drink more. I hate plain water so I always flavour mine.

For hydrating, water is too boring for me. Anything to flavor it helps me, like crystal light or mio. Also adding bubbles :)
