I've decided you all look like a caterpillars in cocoons in those hammocks. They must be incredibly comfortable I'm definitely going to have to get one! All things considered it looks like you had a great trip!
Cool you guys got your wives to backpack with you. When I asked my wife to hike with me she said "the only hiking i'm doing is from the truck to the camper"
My favorite place to hike! My profile pic I took from the overlook on the road to the beech area. When I hike Paddle creek I usually park and come in from the other direction. And speaking of steep hills..there is a hill we named the hill from hell that the starting point is a few yards from where you a camped that is so steep you literally have to "hug a tree" to keep from rolling backwards if you stop to catch your breath and rest a few seconds! LOL
Don't know if you're still looking but the Trangia frypan/lids work well. The 8.7 inch is 4.2 oz and the 7 inch is 2.8 oz. but they don't have handles.
I think I remember that site. A buddy and I almost stayed there, but walked back over that hill and found one that was on top of a huge rock outcropping that overlooked the lake. (maybe 1/4 mile from the beach) It was pretty sweet. Not hammock friendly but I did not have a hammock at that time. Oh and I took my wife "once" to Archers Fork. Bad move because it is not flat at all. If you guys haven't been there you should go. It's my favorite trail I've been to here in Ohio.
I think they actually had a better time than they were letting on. Frying pan- I simply use a small frying pan from Walmart. It's about 4" wide. It's about 5 oz.
Great trip. I am heading down to Lake Vesuvius in early October but I don't think my wife will be joining me lol. You got lucky with those temps., normally you would be sweating your butts off that time of year.
Great video... That's freaking awesome you got them to go backpacking with you guys. I loved how you both were quiet after one of your wives made a comment, except the salt one. I'm from Southern California, no such thing as flat... My Timber Mountain video was a 4.5 mile hike with 3,400' elevation gain, the last .9 mile was a 700' elevation gain. I'm going to sub your channel after giving it a few tries.
That plate burned because you were cooking the plate instead of the food. Put a little cooking oil so the heat from the flame goes to the oil. Depending on how hot your flame is, you may have to add a little more oil before you slap on the fish. Whatever the case, you add oil before applying heat. It's the same with cast iron and even teflon pans. If you heat up a teflon pan and don't put oil in to absorb the heat, what you're going to have is a face full of teflon fumes. ;)
We have not had any issues with them. I have read of some people experiencing slippage of the suspension, or stretching of the straps over time. I have done 10 nights with mine so far and no issues.
SBOutdoors yeah my friend has to stop using them with his cinch buckles because he kept slipping, I wonder if the beetle buckles lock better. I also have another friend had them start to tear...but he's not the most careful with his gear so I blame user error
You might look at a carbon steel pan from Ben's Backwoods. Requires seasoning, but is way lighter than cast iron. www.bensbackwoods.com/paderno-carbon-skillet-baking-pan-6-5-8/

I thought you guys were a couple. Not joking.
Looks like a fun trip. When did you guys do this hike. I'm amazed it got that cool in summer. Thanks for taking us along.
It was actually last weekend (7/29), got a nice bout of cooler weather in Ohio that weekend.
Nice weather for summer.

It's funny hearing you say "So all you 130 subscribers..." and then looking at your subscribers now.... 19k.
Great job getting the wives out hiking. Have they gone with you since this trip?
need to have a small cast iron fry pan. Not sure how heavy it would be, but the chicken and fish would turn out awsome.
Great trip. I am heading down to Lake Vesuvius in early October but I don't think my wife will be joining me lol. You got lucky with those temps., normally you would be sweating your butts off that time of year.
Yeah I would avoid Vesuvius if it was super hot and humid.....lot of bugs too then..
The Schill brothers rock!

You need to get that plate further away from the burner. Just an inch or two away makes a huge difference in not burning.
“Dickin’ around” at 8:33
The problem is it’s to thin. Use a double plate or pan.,the first one will absorb the heat and disperse it to the second one.
A plate would be better than using a plate.
Quick question....how do you guys like the dyneema straps?
