Just want to add to the comments. My 2 year told took the keys off the shelf and dismantled the key fob .... i tried everything but could not start the car ... SAFE with coil light flashing (Seat) - in these VW group fobs there is ID48 transponder capsule inside, it is the size of a grain of rice, black in colour and made out of glass, i was totally oblivious to this. Happened a month ago, so today had an idea to empty the contents of the vacum cleaner dustbag in a effort to find this tiny glass capsule before spending £200 on a new key, cutting, programming etc .... i found it inside the vacum cleaner, couldn't beleive it as it was over a month ago. These type of video's helped me save some money in this tough economic climate, just passing this information on to anyone in the future. Thanks ever so much.
No dead battery but TT went into safe mode. Worked like a charm with doing the key on to ACC then to off 5 times without starting it. You saved me a tow bill my friend, thanks!
I don’t know when you came back I saw your car didn’t have safe so I know you did something different! Nice try man I don’t know why people mess with others in need of help!
I had the same Problem. I have a Audi A4 B7 2005. I changed the case from my key and didn't know that under the electric there is a transponder. This transponder is needed. Otherwise the car goes into safe mode. So I switched back the case and to reset the safemode I unconected the battery for 5 min and shorted the cables. And the safe mode was gone. So be carfull if you use an other key.
Well i got someone to work on my car becaus my remotes are dead ? but the lights are still blinking. It would start with key that I usually use, and have to open the car via the doorlock. The second key would start up the car but it would instantly turn off by itself showing blinking glowplugs icon yellow. So I switched my keys a few times over & over and suddenly the second key would make the car run as well ... I am really wondering where the problem is with my car. Its an audi A3 1.9tdi 2006 model. Someone says comfort module in the right side of the trunk/boot, i've cleaned up that module with some contact spray. But still no recognition from both keys to the car itself. What am I lookin over the head ?Got the safe code when a 'mechanic' tried to solve my problems, he said my second key doesn't work ... Wel i proved him wrong now. I just don't know which module to look at any more ... i also got the safe mode on in my car, doesn't go away like that ...
FYI - if you jump with another car, this typically won't happen. It will go into safe at first, but if you just wait 10 seconds and turn the key (but dont start it yet), it'll stop. Wait another 2 minutes and you're good to start.
dude i really gotta try that out. my bat went flat AND i removed my instrument cluster because i had to replace the warning buzzer of it (produces sound if any warning appears or if u leave the light one while engine off...). instrument cluster got build in, had to get jump started by a friend and my car went safe mode... tryed couple of times but maybe waiting with ignition on for 2 mins helps...
@TehToqqL when you jump it again, do the same thing. Turn the key to see power but don't even try to start and I would leave it even longer than 2 minutes.Hell, rev the thing.
Brooo just the video I was looking for. I have the exact same issue on the same car. recently bought my A3 and this safe mode doesn't let the car turn on. Did you not have to change the battery then just let it charge for a while?

This did not work for me 2008 Audi A6 Instrument cluster shows SAFE EPC light Traction control light Airbag light ABS and brake MIL On Car runs and drives great Radio sound like amp is off and only plays on left rear and front of car
How to do end up fixing it? My battery is not dead at all but both of my working key fobs suddenly stopped working and it says safe and it starts and turns off
Put key in ijnition and turn to first position Press the open and close buttons at the same time to sync your key back to the car if it does not work then try again. I think it works definitely on the tenth go 👍

I had to disconnect/reconnect the battery for the car to start. Charging alone wasn't enough.
