Hello Cathy, I'm been taking Paxil for many years albeit the lowest dose and it helped with my panic disorder. I am addicted to true crime drama both on TH-cam and sometimes on TV. My partner says it's misery but many famous people in the past and present were crime drama junkies. Stay well. Aloha friend.

I’m sure teaching gets quite exhausting at this time of year! Nice to see you ❤

Enjoy the eclipse! We had one at school a few years ago. It was so fun!

When you were talking about having novels where lots of characters come in and out, it made me think of Independent People, and also The Magic Mountain because that’s a great device for showing different opinions and character traits within the society.
My husband is traveling to Texas to see the eclipse and I hope it goes well for him. I’m going to be staying home and watching movies and reading for three days alone. ❤

I think it takes a lot of writerly talent to pull of the lots of people in a room talking scenario well. Dostoevsky does it well and of Zola. I'll have to reread Magic Mountain to get a sense of how Mann does it. I do remember a fantastic dinner party scene in Doktor Faustus. I think I'd be with you regarding the eclipse. I'm happy I will get to see it at home, but I don't think I'd travel to see it.

The Idiot is my favourite Dostoevsky novel, so many great characters. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it so far!
I tried following The Daily Stoic during the first year of the pandemic because I wanted some kind of structure but I found the authors annoying (maybe because their examples didn’t apply to me at all). But it won’t hurt to try, and I hope it helps you.

I'm getting a very "stoicism is for bros" vibe even from his website. So part of me wants to finagle my way into their discourse. And it might be helpful regardless of the silly "bro-ish" aspects.

Do sorry not really. Many people enjoy the novels of S.A.Chakraborty and I think there are Jinns in those books.
