Back in 1999 the cartic empties used to be a die hard RFD class 47 working, but on this day 37516 had popped up on it seen here at Blackwell summit after a standing start from Bromsgrove.
37516 still giving West Coast Railways good service. Now badged 'Loch Laidon'. Did look better in its BR colours than it does now in that Maroon colour.

I used to live about half a mile from one of two 1 in 35 stretches on the Tyne Dock to Consett branch up here in County Durham, I can still hear the double headed 37's hauling the 9 bogie hopper iron ore trains of nearly 900 tons up to Consett, the thrash was unbelievable, sadly I'm old enough to remember the banked 9F's as well, sorry but your Lickey Incline is just a slight slope compared to what this branch was...
