    Hello from Central Ontario, Canada!
    Scott, just got a laugh from you saying 20 hours in the seat and feeling fine... I rode my 83 Aspencade 10 hours in the non stop rain up north in the Autumn, and must say that I've had better days riding... lol
    But your point is legitimate, the bikes will get you where you want to go reasonably comfy.
    I happened to be going where I hadn't been before, and being Autumn, all the big critters tend to come out of the woodwork, my hands were clenching in certain areas... I wasn't dressed the best for that run... lol
    Thank you for all your help to fellow Wing Nuts, I certainly enjoy your format. Cheers!

    I had that notorious "click" once when trying to start my bike and it turned out to be loose battery terminal connections.

      That can definitely cause the problem!

    Hello Scott, thanks for the video. Agreed about the battery issue. It's also pulling a bit to energize the electrical system and that little bit of extra power draw may be enough so the starter won't spin. We don't think about it however every time you start a vehicle this is a electrical phenomenon that occurs, it's called initialization, if in doubt replace the battery. It's cheap insurance and if it's under warranty, most likely you'll get a prorated discount. Great tip on the wind screen.

    I disabled the anti-dive on my GL1800 after I had to replace the front fork seals after hitting a series of train tracks and having the front end get pounded mercilessly. Traxxion Dynamics supplied me with different springs, new seals dust boots and slider bushings and instructions to service the forks using a 20 weight fork oil, did the trick for me.
    Sounds like that battery issue is called a flat cell in the battery. It will show normal voltage, but amperage is not there and the engine will not crank.
    Thanks for the good tips! Have finally serviced my GL1800 after 4 years of non-use, ready to rock once again!

      A flat cell is not the same as a sulfated cell. A battery with a flat cell will not read 12 volts at full charge, because the charge is the sum of six cells. If one of the six cells is flat or dead, the maximum the battery can produce is 10 volts. A battery with a sulfated cell will show 12 volts, but as soon as you try to pull current from it, the voltage will drop.

      @@GoldwingDocs I'm just used to saying a flat cell, even if it is sulfated or shorted. No worries!

    I'm having difficulty finding info on the Trac Anti Dive rebuild/adjust on my 1983 GL1100i.
    Can you help?

      I have the same bike, love the older Wings... the antidive assembly needs to be soaked in Yamalube cylinder head and valve cleaner for an hour or so, brushed clean with a nylon brush, blown out with compressed air.

    Hi Scott I have a 97 wing no cruise but the light comes on.. is this a easy fix

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what's causing it. The service manual diagnostic process for the cruise control is ten pages long, it is a complex system. So it might be an easy fix...but determining what needs to be fixed is definitely not.

    Hello Scott when did Honda Goldwing switch from stator to external alternator

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the GL1500 in 1988. Goldwings up to that point had internal stators.

    What are the valve stems on the top of my forks for?

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They allow you to adjust the "preload" air pressure in your forks. You should only use a hand-operated bicycle pump on them - a regular car compressor will blow out your fork seals.

    Question, "Why do GL1500 riders have windshields that go above their heads and GL1800 riders usually look over the windshields?"

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it has to do more with the fact that the very tall windshields were popular when GL1500's came out, and they fell out of fashion by the time GL1800's came around.

      I put a tall one on my 1800 mainly to help the wind for the wife

    Hea Scott. I have a question for another video. On my GL1500 the fuel gauge goes from full to empty after only about 2-3 gallons. Is this normal or is there a way to adjust it? Thanks!

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not normal, and I suspect you might have a bad winding on the fuel level sensor inside the tank.
