You should try the expanding foam method for filling cracks in. You basically drill small holes out of the crack all the way down and squirt some foam into the holes to take away the movement and trim back and fill. It’s works just as well.
Any water base paint will activate the surface and bubble.if you plaster over old wallpapered surfaces they will bubble because there is still a residue that you won’t be able to get rid of . You need to seal with pigmented surfaces with is oil based.
@@LCWDIY I'm a plasterer by trade.Multifinish might give it a slightly different setting but cement is the one you want to use.If you do it 50/50 it will set in minutes.Gauge your time and adjust the percentage of cement,if that helps.
@@ashyclaret Thanks for that great tip I will give it a try. Oh and you're probably going to hate my next video I put out which is plastering the bathroom ceiling lol as I'm NOT a plasterer.
My box room is exactly like this. Crack and blown plaster in the exact same places. This video is exactly what I need! Thank you so much mate!

Great video mate. Is it possible to just fill the big hole with bonding? Or do you need to plaster board it?
I'm no expert nut that should be ok, as long as the bond coat is thick enough to hold itself in the lath
@@LCWDIY cheers. Might PVA before hand to get it to stick.
great vid - thank you.
If you don’t seal walls they will blister with any water based paint, you need to use a pigmented sealer with is solvent based
If you put a bit of cement in your bonding,it will rapid set!Don't overdo it though or the Bonding will set before you've got chance to get it on.
I've heard that putting a bit of multifinish in it does the same thing as well. Or does the cement set it even quicker than multifinish?

Thank you
no need for scrim tape?
Not for those thin cracks and holes.
You are all wrong that’s terrible. Gutt the room and re do , you have to piggy seal before you do anything with the wall to seal off
