Quixel (and Bridge) is also the more polished experience. It has, wait for it, sensible categories to help find the asset you're looking for in the 18000 assets you own. Fab lumps them all under 3d model for anything 3d. I haven't yet found in what categories it lumps materials, decals, and damage decals into. Fab vs the Unreal Marketplace is a similar failure story on Fab side : missing and overly broad categories, bad UI
This is nice, and I will probably go do this. That said, I have been using the ones on Fab in Blender already. It’s not as nice since there’s no plugin, and you have to do stuff manually, but it does work, both for models and materials. Regardless of how you do it, though, I highly recommend these assets for Blender users. And another tip for Blender users: the “linear” assets (cliffs, stone walls, etc.) generally work well with the array and curve modifiers, and if you make the curve a child of the model it works really well as an asset in the asset browser. I’ve got a lot of curved cliff assets, wall assets, and such that look great and are easy to use.

The Quixel team isn’t happy with how FAB is handling its position, direction, and overall management-it's like putting the wrong items on a restaurant menu or random jugsaw puzzles. Users can’t easily find what they need or want. Quixel aimed to create the perfect Google-like search engine for assets-one that delivers the right assets for video game developers, artists, and creators. The goal was to ensure creators could find high-quality, relevant assets quickly and accurately, without risking their jobs at motion picture studios, game studios, or other creative industries for accidentally using the wrong assets in their projects.
Totally agree. I was browsing fab the other day and I had to sift through so much garbage and bad content before I found anything useful and then there is not even a wishlist once you found something of interest.

Broken af. Can't claim. Makes you try to log in with epic account and then spits the error "this.calculateDayDifference is not a function" Just a heads up. Same error in Chrome and Firefox.
Oh of course they updated the bridge AFTER I already downloaded like 100 materials and manually added them to my asset library. The way they talked about it sounded like they abandoned it forever. Sheesh.
Bevy 0.15?
Thank you very much for the PSA.
Great... Only logging in through epic games then logging in through a Google account just makes it so FREAKING SLOW!
ok, that deserves a follow
can you please look into this further my man make a video showing how the indie plan doesnt work its the indie plan that we want to have support updates over those lecacy megascans assets after 2025 otherwise there is no point, if you choose indie plan they are not to be found in the fab or quixel library my dude neither in bridge no where you have to make 2 accounts one for unreal free plan and one for indie which is paid subscription that 1st month is "free" until january 1st! they are toying with us!!!
Thanks for sharing!!! This is great
I've done this already, I have a unity project setup so it has autoLOD , meshshader and virtual texture
Oh that's handy :) Thanks!
Done!! thank you
Good morning.
Thanks mate!!
MAKE SURE CLAIMED TEXT IS VISIBLE ON FAB AND QUIXEL LEGACY !!!
Thanks Mike
Might be issues with this. For me it says I need to join a a subscription plan. I chose "Indie" so I can use it in engines besides Unreal.
Another poster stated they got 18,902 assets, but I got 18,864. I don't know where the discrepancy comes from.
Let me awake you my friend, the free unreal plan is giving you the assets but they wont be making compatibility updates from neither epic games that own unreal if they update the engine or quixel since its gonna merge to fab.
The indie plan states that YOU will get support updates for the assets even after 2025 why? Cuz if you get revenue of 2mil they want a cut thats why which is ok.
Thing is those assets are being bought from some ppl so they dont have a choice and note you can only use them in any either engine or tool aka maya or blender only via bridge plugin-platform they call it plugin but its a whole ass program to install😂 peace
Also if you choose the indie plan they dont appear on library in your fab account page
@@trifilosgr there's got to be a best practice to this, like sub in Bridge and just use it there?
Fab has 4 problems no wishlist, no faves, lack of modern filters, and lots of low effort garbage.
the combo of no modern filters + low effort garbage is probably what makes it unusable especially for someone paid by the hour or has a deadline.
@@MangaGamified honestly id prefer not for these assets to be free after all and for quixel to merge into fab because steam new releases are freaking filled by game asset money grab games made by unreal and that makes a bad name for the community not only that they are super realistic with megascans and the vectors suck you see characters having all glitchy bugs made by amateurs and obscuring the rest of us.
and yea fab filters suck, you are supposed to use them in unreal via the bridge plugin and its supposed to be a breeze but its not really you need to be really careful on installation and prolly you might need to unplug everything with registry wipe and all and re try again
How far behind are your videos
Holy crap😂😂
Thanks
"NO ASSETS HERE" *sigh*
Thanks, I did it via phone
Thank you
thank you
This isn't confusing at all.
Said no one ever.
I miss the marketplace.
Fab is a huge downgrade disaster.
wow thanks
If youtube bot deletes this, im okay with it, but im just going to say it straight out, Epic has been a big pile of shit since they launched Fab. That dumpster fire and half assed release, and now im having cpp issues with their engine in 5_5, and now they bringing quixel back for me to have to reclaim everything again, on top of me having to go claim the free assets every 2 weeks. Is Unity good again?
You're complaining because you 'have to' get stuff for free? What an era we live in. 😂
@@musashidanmcgrath you're first time with epic? I'm "Complaining" because this has been nothing but a shitshow the last month with epic. They released a half ass store front that screwed over everybody from sellers, devs and hobbits. They released 5_5 which they forgot to have some files accessed which broke cpp compiling And no, im not "Complaining" of free stuff. I'm "Complaining" about this shit experience the past month, 4th time claiming these and having to hunt down the free assets every 2 weeks when the experience just navigating that dumpster fire of a site is annoying. What an era we live in when you get used to half baked products.
By all means go to Unity since relatively minor inconveniences and bugs in newly launched software and a massive new platform makes you so upset.
@@alexhooi7268 When did i say im going unity?, i asked is it good again as a joke. Minor inconvenience? lmao When you deal with a product that uses money and it releases to millions of people, it needs to work and not be rushed. IDK why people defend this kind of behavior. Its not an early access game here, this was a website that was pushed out and breaking everything in the process to millions of devs and hobbyist. This should not be accepted nor defended. Also the quixel claiming bugged and didnt even work for me on bridge, but hey, i should be all sunshine and rainbows here right for a minor inconvenience? Not like i spent thousands here and being directed all over the place or anything. Want to buy and asset, go to fab, then to install, go back to epic launcher, want to view the asset, go back to fab. Want to claim quixel, go fab, click claim all again, you have bridge, open another app and see nothing claimed. Want to compile your project, you may hit another bug and cant which i have. Want to use an asset? oh you cant, not transferred to fab. This is getting annoying. all they had to do was work on it, release it and start the new year off with a bang, but now, we have to deal with this slop and praise features once they get added in waves...what an era we live in when someone just wants stuff and things to work and im the bad guy lmao. Come on dude, we all could use a better user experience here.
@@pwnonator My first time with Epic? No, I've been using the engine since the UDK days. 😄Back when there was no access to immense quantities of free, high-quality assets. Back when we had to build ALL of the assets by hand. I think it's wise to put things in perspective here.
Yes, FAB was rushed out in an awful state. Yes, it's inconvenient that we have to wait for updates to make our lives a little bit easier. Yes, there are more buttons to click. Yes, we have to spend a little more time sorting through the awful FAB interface...... but these are all things that I certainly won't be losing the plot over. That's life. Swings and roundabouts. The benefits of the assets we have available for free FAR outweigh the temporary mess that FAB is in.
As for compiler issues in 5.5.....wait for a patch. Don't migrate important projects to 5.5. Stay on the last stable engine version for you. Simple.
Fab is awful. Half the stuff is only Unreal Engine when you click download...
guys look for the assets you like and gonna use or can make good use and just download it free while you can there is no point downloading all of them in different qualities the whole pick a plan path bullshit is a fraud
they give them away for free as next year AI will make them for you for free, just like it does make images and animation s for free now already! ;P
i got 9400 only
Really? That's very odd. I don't think assets are region locked or anything like that.
@@gamefromscratch if in future you have new news , let me know

Åh, that's nice
tq4this!
I am the 1000th liker 🤟
damn
It has you subscribe to either the Unreal Engine only subscription or the Indie subscription that has 2M$ limits on your yearly revenue. Don't like that, even if both are free
Again...again
umm, the problem here is, i don't wanna to make an-account for unreal-engine store or anything like that, or even quixel megascans, or anything, i just don't wanna to download any programs or applications or sign-up for accounts.
then miss out
You can’t have your cake and eat it too
@@Metatanium umm, dude, plz, can we plz not do this,
Bridge and Quixel use Epic games account so no need for a new account
Also BTW you could just create an account for the quixel website and claim on there. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
huh, didn't realize that Quixel Bridge has an .appimage now. Us Linux bois can do this as well.
