Usually caused by a broken cable housing preventing you from triggering the latch (door latch problem). Some people call this cab style: extended cab, Quad Cab, or King Cab. This is not for the SuperCrew, Double cab, Crew cab, or CrewMax.

This video saved my sanity. I had the door open and installed the aluminum ferules to fix the cable for the outside door handle, When I shut the door, I was locked out because the lower
cable came out of the lower latch. What a mess! If I had not watched your video, I may have given up and taken it to a body shop. I did get the door open and replaced both cables.
It works just like new. I did clean up and lubricate the middle latch inside and replaced both upper and lower latches. I think I saved myself a few hundred dollars.

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge with the suicide doors without the opening wing windows. One day both back doors wouldn't open. Is there a locking system on those doors? If there's a cable does it operate both doors?

Helpful info, but does NOT apply to the 2002 Ford Ranger, which has non opening windows on the suicide doors and only one inner panel.
Thank you for your videos , I have a 2000 Ford ranger and the cables are both loose inside the door , is there any way to remove the panel with the door shut and not having access to the cables from the exterior? Frank
I don't know how to on a Ranger. If neither back door will open, I would suggest going to a salvage yard (u pull it), or a friend with similar truck, to figure out where all the fasteners are located and practice getting them open.

Bout a year ago one of my rear doors wouldn’t open so I used this video to help me fix it. Was fairly easy fix and I got the door working. Now the other side went out so I’m back 😂
If I remember right, mine went out a couple of weeks apart.
This looks like good info for some Ford trucks- not Rangers, and fwiw, the door is clearly swung open at 1:47 thru 1:54, which no doubt makes the job easier if not doable. So, not sure these methods will work when the door is actually stuck shut. Thanks for the upload, but would suggest being a little more accurate in the video title.
I titled it that way because these trucks are notorious for breaking the cables that actuate the latches. You have to remove the panel with the door stuck closed to access the latches. I had to do that for both doors (with the latches stuck). So I already knew it would work. I shot some of the parts of the video with the door open to get better shots of what needed to be done.
I knew I should have done the drivers side a month ago when the passenger side went out. Guess what i'm doing this morning. This video was well worth the watch and the aluminum repair cable housing worked perfectly. I found the only pair in stock were i live at the auto zone. Thanks
That's what happened to me too. Drivers side went out one day, and a few weeks later, the other side quit. Glad to hear it helped you and you got it working again.

any chance you know the size of the bolts that attach the upper portion of the lower door panel?
I am not near my truck right now so I can't check. If you are talking about he head, I believe it is 10mm. If you are talking about the threads, I think they were more like a screw thread than a bolt thread. If you lost them, you could probably pull one out of the opposite door to take to a hardware store or auto parts store. Let me know if you need more help than this.

doesnt work on 2003 ford ranger. The panel goes over the top of the latch. The door must be open to remove panel

I was watching a ChuckE2009 video where he was reviewing his late 90s early 2000s F250 SuperDuty truck before selling it and he mentioned that one of the only problems he ever had was that one of his half doors locked up on him and he had to fix it and that he had read it was a common problem. And I'm thinking "hmmm weird... I got a 1999 250 SD and my rear half doors work fine.". THAT VERY SAME DAY.... I discovered my driver's side half door latch had failed and I could no longer open it lol. Crazy huh? Thanks for the good video. Gonna dig into my half door soon and fix it.

I am wondering how to replace the rear quarter window like the one shown in this video. The bolts holding the window itself don't seem to want to turn....is there a trick to these types of bolts?
I have not replaced one of those windows. I have replaced a similar window with similar bolt. There wasn't anything special about them. Chances are, they are just stuck. But I hate to tell you that and have you break your window. Try on a window that is in the sun so it is hot. Good luck.

The problem I'm having it's similar to the up videos you posted , but in my case my cables are working just fine just my bottom latch won't unlock I put up a video yesterday. Can you take a look at it and let me know what you think I would appreciate it thank you
+XxKiloxX Very interesting. I have a video schedule for release tomorrow that addresses this problem when it is a broken cable. But I can see that yours appear to be actuating the lever. The inner workings of the latch sometimes get gummed up. Try pushing out on the door while pulling the cable. ,Have you tried some lubricant sprayed on the lower latch from inside the door so it runs down thru the latch? Then push and pull on the door, then try the cable again. If that doesn't work, I would guess that it is something busted inside the latch. You could take the one off of the other door and see if you can figure a way to manually trigger it. I see the lever working, so you would have to dig deeper than that. I would try myself, but my truck is in AZ right now and I am in Destin, FL. Won't be back in AZ for a few months. Would love to take a stab at it. Where are you located?

Yea i tried everything you said, and taking out the other door wont work because that door has the same problem lol . like you said i think theirs something busted inside the latch , i will try one more time to get it open by pushing and pulling on the door . any ways thank you for taking the time to help me.
+XxKiloxX Did both doors stop working at the same time? My truck is a 99 so I am sure there are some differences. Mine has a mechanical interlock to prevent the rear doors from being opened unless the front door is opened. It is a little black lever that sticks out in the area between the doors. The front door hits it when the front door closes. Does yours have that? Did you have any work done to the truck or a wreck around the time they stopped working? Mine doesn't have child safety latches, but yours might so be sure to check for that. Look in your manual and see if there is some kind of quirky condition that they may be checking for. Does the interior light come on when the door is open. Just asking in case it is a mechanical interlock.
+fixpro256 I checked everything you just mentioned. Yes my door does have the black lever and everything works as it should. My truck does not have a child lock. As far as any accidents go I'm unsure of because I only have this truck for a month in a half just thinking that the doors may have a broken cable issue but that's not the problem. I got it from a small dealership as it with no warranty due to the fact that it was a low priced truck. So I really don't know much of the history only that the truck was used as a city truck working on the interstates. I'm going tot he dealership to see if I can find more information as to how I can take care of this problem.
+XxKiloxX A trip to the dealership may be a good idea. I noticed a few extra pieces inside the door near the lower latch, but I couldn't see them very well. If you get a chance, shoot another video and get some of the surrounding area. Are there any solenoids or other cables attached to the lower latch, besides the main cable? If you turn your phone sideways before you start the video it will fill the screen better. I don't remember how far I had to move the lever that is part of the latch to get my lower latch to release. I think you are moving it far enough, but you could try moving it further with your finger.

Those may address your problem.
If I understand your question, spray the bottom latch down with a bunch of wd40 and wiggle the parts around as best you can while you do that. That might get it to release if it is just dirt messing it up. The video links will help you with the rest. Don't forget to share, thumbs up, and subscribe.

the top bolt is suck i can't get it out at all. any ideas?
It the torques head is stripped(usually from using the wrong size) use a set if small vice grips to grad the head and turn it. Could also use "damages nut removal socket". If the threads are stripped, press a thin putty knife or razor blade under the edge of the head while turning the bolt. Once u get the edge under it, twist the knife to help force the good threads to grab.

I am not familiar with that model. It may have some similarities, but is probably very different.
