I really like “The Gifted” but I definitely would’ve preferred a series based on this run of the New X-men. We barely get to see the teen/school aspect in the movies, I’m hopeful that we’ll get a series soon.

I'd like to see a History on X-23/Laura Kinney, just to hear your opinions on Marjorie Liu's 'X-23' solo series, since personally I'be always been mixed on Surge and Hellion's portrayal in that book.
I remember being a teen and loving the drama on this comic. Then, I was devasteded after they started killing my favorite characters lol. The cover with the bus explosion reflected on Mercury's face is one of my favorite all time.
Wasnt Wolfsbane like 19 and the rest of the teachers were like 22-24. Elixer was like 16 or 17, so only like 2yrs apart. Though being a superhero and all the stuff Wolfsbane and the others went through definitely pushes the maturity levels up. Meaning Wolfsbane should of never been interested if a boy with no experience in life... I think there was another X-teacher who almost had a relationship with a student but they didn't do anything because of the responsibility of being a teacher. (not talkinga bout Gambit and Mystique)
I feel the same way about The New Mutants. I grew up reading the series (along with the man X-books) and they were probably my biggest comfort while I was in high school. I’m glad Marvel is still occasionally nailing that intersection of mutants and growing up that they originally created the team for. X-men forever

What I think Marvel should do in the future is Take the Most of the mutants population to an Island with no ruler and bring back the new mutants as a team that protects the Island while the main team of X-Men is operating in America. And I think there should be more schools in this Island So we can have different sides of this Island. Like an example: The south side of the Riverdale tv show.
I don't think putting an entire population to one restricted area is a good idea. What i'd like to read, is the opposite, like the mutants being ok with the others.
The only other X-book that got me as nearly invested as Dephillipis's New X-men is Claremont's original X run. This series gave me exactly what I wanted when Morrison's introduced the school element back into x-men mythos
did you ever get to read the origonal series of "the new mutants. it delved deeply into the school side of life mixed with being young heroes but on a more realistic scale of mutants living in the shadows without the murder and constant attacks. it really gave the character more time to develop and flesh out. Magik was keeping her demon side a secret from her team mates, Mirage was dealing with the death of her parents, Sunspot with the death of his girlfriend, Cannonball was facing leaving his family without a source of income to come to the school and wolfesbane was messed up by her strict religious upbringing. each character had a solid back story fro before they came to the school and family commitments.

LOVED this video! Your summary of all the storylines is so interesting and fun to listen to. Feels like a cool happy relaxing comic book story time session. At the end of your videos I am inspired to read the entire comic series and learn how to become a better writer and public speaker. What a great run of xmen by Chris yost...loved rereading my copies of this new X-Men run.The striker attack was one of the worst saddest time ever in the X-Men comics...( humanity was lucky the X-Men didn't snap and wipe them out bc I don't think many of us readers would have faulted them..sad times but great writing) I really miss this time of X-Men bc it was a really great run...I urge any X-Men fan to pick this run up.
ItsSuperEffective Yeah...Jay had such a gentle soul..( you really felt the xmen as a whole lost something with his death) The words his mom spoke during his funeral hit me hard.
Decimation gets overlooked a lot, but that New X-men team went through hell characters dying left and right and some of the best character development for a younger class of mutants since maybe generations x and this was a HUGE cast. I mean to go through M, Stryker, Nimrod, Limbo and more in just the first year. Every arc was an event. I seriously miss this book an wish they were an equivalent in the X verse now. Generation Hope just never did it for me

Since I've been completely spoiled by your videos I now find it hard to endure anyone else's... in fact you're the first person I've ever let break down Marvel titles, characters and X-Men for me in my LIFE. Being an older avid Marvel fan who grew up with Claremont-Byrne-Austin as my religion, I was curious. Have you done a history of the New Mutants I can show my wife, specifically about Illyana and Rhane and Dani - because I really don't get the whole horror movie concept at ALL and if you like it I would love to know why that is? Why are they deviating from such a rich storyline don't they own Claremont's writing? I know this isn't your Q and A so I beg your pardon. - U
I remember reading this series. It was great while it lasted. I hate to say it, but I like it when characters die. I don' like death, but being invincible is dumb. Though it's hard to see favorites die. Like Cyclops. May you be resurrected by your wife? the Phoenix.
Yeah, this was a decent run. The only reason I liked Young X men though was Dust but… oof on the ending. Side note - ink was kind of fun as an idea. Speaking of Dust, feels like the Hellion team were the breakout stars of that book. Considering how so many survived and how characters like Surge might not be used as much for how manipulative she was to Prodigy and how racist she was to Dust. But it does make sense. The mutants who survived were the most visually striking. Which is probably why the more standard looking kids like Wind Dancer, Tag and Wallflower got depowered and capped. And wow… Stryker’s cult really hated Sooraya. So happy that writers kept using her like when she worked with Khamala in the Champions. You might like Leah Williams’ X factor because the book has this wonderful moment for many Academy X fans
i would hope marvel would start making more new characters instead of just altering preexisting ones. maybe phase out the characters how don't work so well. wor publish storryies set in the far future like 200 years where the characters we know have died and their a new characters that haven take up the fight with new names.
I liked the Young Xmen book, but I think it was meant to be a new starting point that was never built upon. The new Iceman book is good, but it won't be great 'til Older Bobby kicks Younger bobby's (not capitalized on purpose) ass for deserting his team during IVX.
Thanks for this. I saw Skottie Young's art for some of those middle issues but had no idea where until now. He's one of my favorite artist so im going to search for those now. Also question if they did make another new X-men book would you rather have the same characters return, other established characters or complete new ones? They have a 'generation X' book kinda like this but I think it sucks.
Chris Claremont didn't leave the x-men books and return during this time. Almost the exact same timespan that Grant Morrison had his run on New X-men (retitled from X-men vol2), Claremont was writing X-treme X-men. The first three issues of X-treme x-men was when Beast was injured badly and Sage unlocked his secondary mutation as she healed him. That's why Beast transformed at the beginning of Morrison's New X-men run. Frankly, I enjoyed X-treme X-men far more than Grant Morrison's New X-men or Chuck Austen's Uncanny X-men run.
I just finished re-reading Yost's run on New X-Men from issue 20 until the end of the series and it is some really great stuff, if a bit dark. It makes me want Yost back on the current x-titles because the current writer of Gold is terrible imo.
Hey Faust. I have a question. I heard once that Pixie is almost as strong as Dr. Strange. Like if something happened to Dr. Strange, she could temporary replace him. Is that true. Plus there were about four others too. Not sure who they were. Also big fan by the way. Learning about comics from this channel as it goes.

Uncanny X-Men by Matt Fraction, 8. Necrosha X, 9. X-Men Second Coming, 10. Uncanny X-Men by Kieron Gillen, 11. Avengers vs X-Men obviously there are a dozen of x comic books and stories in between but I'd say these are the main ones (?)
Bring back wind dancer with wind powers and make her a lesbian right now MARVEL. Bring back the new mutant traning squad with wind dancer surge prodigy wallflower elixer and mirage. And make mirage the same age as them and make her a lesbian and give her that pink hair I liked it. And give us prodigy back with powers. Miragexwinddancer

Speaking of New X-Men, those characters have been popping up lately in the books, especially that last volume of Uncanny X-Men prior to #600...

My favorite teenage group! I used to read it a lot when I was a teenager, my favorite student team was the Corsairs.
