IMO, what dealerships have done recently is unforgivable and only confirms that they are not a necessity. [market adjustments, fraud, suing manufacturer, fighting laws to protect customers, etc]
I was at a Ford dealership in the summer of 2023. I asked the salesman if they had any Ford Mavericks. He had just gotten one in on a trade in. He was going to sell me a used one at, "Only $5,000 above MSRP". Thanks to Caredge and my research, a few months later, I made a trip to Colorado from New Mexico and got a Toyota Venza hybrid at MSRP.
Really appreciate you taking on the phony price that includes a deposit. It is impossible to catch every bad actor but applying some due diligence to catch some of them is commendable. I also think some of the other practices should be pursued though State AG's, many of whom have their own standards, for those that have been wronged.
Everyone should have the pleasure of buying from a manufacturer-owned store. Went to my local Polestar Space. Drove and loved the Polestar 2. The no-commission salesman said "Great! Go home, pick out your color and trim level on-line, and I'll see you in about three weeks." Approval from Volvo Financial was in place before I took delivery. Spent less than 5 minutes with the "F&I guy" equivalent. Made four clicks on an iPad and wrote them a check for the down. Everything was exactly as stated. No up-sells, pressure, or surprises. Great car! Might go with a Polestar 4 at the end of this lease.
That's good news for CarEdge. The FTC isn't going to put you out of business. The rise of huge dealer groups has reduced the number of independent dealers and increased the amount of unscrupulous behavior and the money to pay off politicians.
on the buyers guide I would like to see a list of dealers within 100 miles that has the vehicle in their lot and a link to an email including a email template to request their best OTD price.
@mrpips000 That depends on a lot of things. Someone living in rural Montana is not going to pay the same as a person living in New York City or Los Angeles assuming they both have the same driving record.
Ray and Zach, good morning. I did a little research on the CARS Act and the 5th Circuit Court. The 3 Judge panel had 2 Republican appointees and 1 Democratic appointee. And, those 3 Judges voted along Party Lines. THAT IS HOW THIS IS A POLITICAL ARGUMENT. And THAT IS WHY NADA CHOSE TO FIGHT THIS FIGHT IN THE 5TH CIRCUIT, WHERE THERE ARE 26 REPUBLICAN APPOINTED JUDGES AND 8 DEMOCRATIC APPOINTED JUDGES.
Those Silverado‘s 1500’s are Time bombs! My Neighbor had his motor blown up with 30000 miles. Cylinder deactivation is garbage. You’re better off purchasing a 6.6 L 2500, but those are crazy expensive.
All I can say is that vehicles are SO much more available for purchase by so many more people in the US than anywhere else in the world. Even the poor and those lacking in money can find a Way to buy a good vehicle. This just doesn’t happen in the rest of the world. God Bless America!
Info to consider adding to the Buyer's Guide for a New car purchase. Currently known "Common Issues" for that generation year range. Sure, in the first 2 years of a generation the common issues haven't shown themselves yet, but by year 3 they begin to be known.... through the end of that generation.
Car's Buyers Guide - Please include: Insurance cost average Overall rating from either Edmunds, Consumers or car connection Expected maintenance costs for 1, 3 and 5 years of ownership
Thank you both for this channel. This last weekend I saved over $1200 from dealer add ons that were added due to the pandemic that they haven't gotten rid of.
Customers don't need protection. They need basic math education, which a dealer is unable to provide. The only thing here was not to make certain products mandatory. Unfortunately, you can get around all those by addendum. Thus, it doesn't matter at all.
Yeah... well your shite goverments are going choose between manufacturers or dealerships, who do you think they're going to choose. You guessed right they will choose the manufacturers and make dealerships all go away. 🤔🤫
The article at 5:36 does a good job of describing the 4 rules. But the law wasn't written that way. The court struck this down because it was a poorly written law. If the law had been written in the 4 terms of the article, it would have passed. I'm willing to bet that there were all sorts of other restrictions and nanny state rules in there that DID IN FACT restrict the dealerships too much. Be an informed buyer and you wouldn't need these laws in the first place.
Maybe my eyes are just to old for your videos but I'm so tired of being blinded by your giant white screen with words so small there's no chance of reading it and your tiny little faces in the corner
You are right. Dealers won't cheat you out of anything. They will cheat you out of EVERYTHING!
Buyer beware!! Do your homework, and be willing to walk out the door, and never return to that deceptive dealership again ...plain and simple

I love that the first question didn’t work. That makes you guys very real and that’s why I watch and follow you!

Buyers guides and stickers are an awesome addition. Thanks

Thank you. The public underestimates the value of a locally owned business vs corporate owned.
Hi guy's I what to see the video on Zach learning to drive a stick shift 😂

Dealers would be smart to make these rules self imposed as part of a commitment to the customer.
Well, more of them will go out of business anyway
Let the cars rot, let the dealers shut down
My car insurance just doubled. Thanks Progressive! lol
I have Progressive and mine went down.

Yes we know you want Big Government to solve all your problems with Americans Taxpayer Funds. So naïve
@@wandameadows5736 Actually, I want Big Government to DO ITS JOB AND PROTECT US AND THE CONSTITUTION.

The auto dealers organization's have way too much influence in statehouses around the country.... particularly in red states 😮

You probably still paid for $2000 that you didnt get off
Probably, but $1200 off a used vehicle that I paid OTD 13,500 is a big deal to me.
Prices way to high. Watch the market rotate to Jetta, RAV4, Prius, Maverick, and new Nissan mini-truck.
There are con artists everywhere not just car dealers.
All your episodes are good. But I feel this one a lot of people should really hear. They need to know about what they don't need to pay!
It’s all BS And games when buying a car those scum bag dealers are crooks Don’t ever feel bad for Saying no and no until you get the deal you want

Dealerships with High inventory and low inventory
fail! you both did not explain how the ftc ruling affects the cusumer
It should have been called RayI pronounced "Ray Eye" instead of Raybot. Haha
At least you two have the Kahuna's to speak up. 10,000 will grow faster, just wait and see!!
Window sticker for a 2000 Dodge yet?

Lina khan, you’ll be missed.
Well, if there was a better law maybe it would have stood the test! Stop crying...
Ray can’t hide that he’s a liberal 😂. Still love him though
