You have the best videos on modding nerf blasters. So far I see "complete mod guide" and it's a video of someone taking apart a blaster, talking about what they're gonna do to it, and a cut to the finished product. I'll be left wondering what the heck an air restrictor actually is. You're clearing things up big time, thanks.
Captain Xavier Good video! I think you gave the single clearest explanation of the function of an AR I've ever seen in a Nerf video. I wish I'd heard it a couple years ago, lol... When I first started modding and was doing it by blind experimentation, I totally killed a couple blasters due to ignorance, and didn't know why until much later.
Btw... Do you have any plans to cover dealing with solvent welds in a future video? That's a handy skill that few video makers give more than a passing mention. (EDIT: For more than just AR mods, too... it's much easier to do a good paint job on blasters like the Hammershot if you can split the shell into separate parts.)
I've learned that the snapfire fire is a very good first modification. The pullback one not the snap fire eight with a screwdriver and force the entire air restrictor assembly and we will just fall out
I wouldn't worry too much about running no AR's on a stampede. I've run mine with no AR for a few wars, but that said it's only 6kg and it does have a padded plunger head.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Dominik Alvin thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I appreciate the fact you're trying to save peoples blasters...especially the kids, but unless the blaster is super rare I've found most to be super affordable. I think we can all agree that it's the ammo, and multiple types of ammo required that gouge us. Take the barrelstrike for instance. It's super rare now - 9kg blastermod spring brings it up to spec but no matter what (standard) darts I choose they dump out like a tristrike mega launcher. Ended up using red and black air warriors precise pro darts - everything else - pops back out...sometimes even before firing - even with brand new darts. Precise pro doesn't get adventure force distance, but at least they don't pop out 2 at a time. Brand new elites, accustrikes, adventure force - all fart out double shots. Can't recommend removing air restrictor with 9kg spring, but I'm about to put a tek6 spring into the IC6 shadow, (haha - you didn't think of that did ya' - blaster stock, grip blaster, ion fire - secret shot purses - all take tek6) ...and that has a rubber headed plunger so i'm definitely pulling out that nearly identical easy access ar system that you've shown here. The tek6 spring is slightly shorter - gotta go grab some washers for a quick spacer. My k31 spring is late from out of darts. I'm in NC but for some reason - package was stuck in Kansas with Dorothy and Toto. Should be here 2moro. Interested to see how close k31 is to tek6. Keep on rockin' bawwwwwler!!!
Cap, drill out the dart peg Base so you can load the dart further in the barrel, it gets better performance it's like further effective barrel length that the dart travels through.
Removed the smart AR on the Doublestrike, did some tune ups, and integrated a a small 2 round half dart mag into it, now it, it shoots both darts at once, so I basically got a shotgun pistol. YEEEE
Definitely useful! But i had to hammer the AR Rod from a kickback because its a cilcular Rod and my needle nose pliers just wont get a hold of the rod Edit: i also had to haksaw the rod that Was holding the AR
A lot of people have been talking about you doing integrations and you said you would do a while season on it. May I suggest having a cohost in that season? I personally think that mr. Nathan is the best out there for Intergrations.
Ive been wondering about drilling out the back of that stopper in the coupler for a blaster of mine (sidestrike). Im kinda paranoid about wrecking blasters, and ive been hesitant about doing something irreversible like that. I now have just about everything to do a mod on it as youve described except for a suitable upgrade spring (though i did find a spring to use to upgrade the catch). My usual go-to spring (something akin to a k26) is too tough, i think; even if i cut it to length
I actually got "lucky" with my Retaliator, using it so often the solvent weld on the AR mech just broke and the AR fell out of the magwell when I took the magazine out xD Had to open it up to reseal the break of course but it had no other damage at all on the plunger tube or barrel
I find myself not really removing many AR's from blasters, idk if its because of the blaster I have chosen, but I dont think removing actually improves much at all. In fact some blaster have become weaker after removing them, which leads me to believe ARs are in fact needed. without it, there's simply to much dead space to allow air to shoot out with enough force.
Basically what I did was I completely drilled everything out the barrel,so it’s just a straight and clean look through barrel. I don’t have any darts because it’s a old gun I found in my closet and wanted to tinker with. What does that do to my gun?
Hey Captain... cool beard and great vids.... im putting k26 in an accustrike fang.... i took off the barrel end so i can paint the base of the blaster a cobalt blue.... the top i am painting red so the base can be like supermans body and the top part can be his cape.... the air restrictors popped out when i took the barrel assembly off... i have the parts still.... should i replace them after painting? And also i plan to brass the barrels.... do i take out the dart post or leave it there? Thanks Sir.... btw if you tell me its ok to get rid of the a.r. I already am planning on padding the plunger head.... plus i may put my own o-ring on the heads as im making a duel wield set up...
It good to have air restrictor. Because sometime I accidentally dry fire my Ultra 4 or sometime I don’t push dart all the way during war time so it prevent blaster form breaking.
CrazyWeirdoe because if you dry firing whatever intentionally or accidentally without presence of air restrictior. You will eventually break your blaster because without air restrictor and when you dry firing the plunger head will collide with the chamber or dart pose and cause damage on your plunger head. That why.
I've used the hammer and skrewdriver method or rather hammer and small file method in my case and I don't recommend I've almost punched holes in my barrels I've also attempted to drill out a bigshock's ar with a drill bit the size of the barrel and I drilled through the plunger ruining it
Captain Xavier how do you drill out the AR if you drill is too small? My drill is long enough but it is not wide enough, and when I try tilting my drill to get the left over parts in my barrel it won't come out. Did I break my barrel or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
Im fairly sure my Spectre broke it self be cause id removed the ar and not padded the plunger. Did manage to fix it though. Which is a bit of a shame because I plan to use it as for parts when it dies.
blastpressure710 watch Walkcoms7s video. The two guns you cant do that to are the stampede and the slingfire, itll break the gears. That was my first thought too!
Yeah, I just use craft foam. And I glue it to the plunger head. You could also glue it to the top of the plunger tube...but it would be harder to get in there. and N-Strike Alpha Trooper? I am not sure. Reverse plunger springs are hard to find anymore. OMW might still have one?
Protip. Always remove the AR from air blasters as air blasters gain nothing from having an AR due to using an air tank or air bladder instead of a plunger setup
Thanks so much for this comment! I just removed ar for the first time, (jolt) and was scared to death that I would destroy my blaster! Now I know it'll be fine.
Lol my alpha trooper blasted its ar out just from a 5 kilo spring. And the 1 and 2 retaliatior kit from OMW doesnt have an ar. Solution? Walkcoms7 s tactical mag lock mod. Saved my life. I love that mod. What do you think about it captain?
It is an awesome and simple mod! I helped develop that mod. John and I came up with it and WalcomS7 was kind enough to feature it on his channel to get better exposure.

how do I keep from dry firing it with a clip system? The only way to remove the clip when you're done is to prime the blaster. I shouldn't leave it primed, should I?
Yes, dry firing is bad, but only if you have removed the AR, which really you shouldn't do. If you really want to remove the AR then you should also remove the slide lock. With will allow you to "de-prime" the blaster.
Whoa thanks, i was literally just talking to my friend about how he should remove the AR on his 2009 Alpha trooper, so right now im watching your vid on plunger padding. Thanks!
What if the AR was made of metal? Or something was done to make it so unless you want to destroy the blaster you have no choice but to leave it in because of the way it was designed.
For whatever reason 2 of my air restrictors, even if a new never sniffed dart they don’t like so imma remove both because on blaster was primed for a long time.

Probably a drill down the barrel. But unless you are adding a brass or sealed breach, I don't recommend it. The performance increase is not worth the additional wear and tear on the blaster.
This is what other mod videos don't tell you they only say the positives. Would it even matter removing the AR from a jolt I really don't think it would impact the life of a jolt

if a roughcut needs its air restrictors to work, then what spring should you use
