    Nothing better than exploring rock pools with a net no matter how old you are 👍

    Try cockles Mate in South Australia where it’s a lot colder are used to catch prawns in the net using cockles what you used to catch the fish around there

    Lovely upload Troy - found it really relaxing having a stroll with you on the shore (I must order those new wellies!) Waiting for this storm to blow over, it's not been nice here. Also nice to see an update on the Lobster tanks. Thanks Mate - stay safe & well.

      Thank you Troj, getting cold feet to help show us what is there and what they are good for, apart from just eating them.

    I was thinking lobster would eat prawn in a confined space, but yours seem to be 'disarmed'. .. Good job Troj ! now where's my net?

    Always loved this set up, It's a pain in the neck trying to keep the temperatures down though!

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normal summers not so bad. Keeping the water clear is important if not it insulates the water raising the temp.Also cooling the water lower at night helps. You could put a coil of hose through an old freezer or fridge and just circle the water I have considered it especially with the hotter weather.

    • @shorefishingessex
      @shorefishingessex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      king of DIY does just that with a hose coiled inside a fridge to cool aquariums down.

    How long could you keep the Lobsters alive in the tank if you wanted too?

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you wanted but you would have to feed them

    Have you ever come across Langouste Rose or Palinurus Mauritanicus before rose coloured crawfish? a good shot of these landed in Newlyn this week by a netter working down near the continetial shelf .

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have on average 1 a year but netting for them is illegal here. There used to be thousands of them around the Island but netting and diving for them almost wiped them out and they have never recovered. They travel in groups and spend time out in the open so are an easy target especially for gil nets and the size limit is tiny for them. One of the Islands here has a complete ban on the capture of them now.

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prawns move around. If there is cover stones & weed there should be. If its all sand then more likely to be shrimp
