  • Cultural dress? What is that for white Canadians? We've been robbed, plain and simple, by other white people with an agenda

The Italians seem to have culture. I lived there for two years and maybe for them, it was desperate attempt to hold very dear to what traditions they had left.

As a European this makes me upset to hear something so far from reality. There are many, many different cultures within Europe, with lots of different cultural dresses. Even within Italy! Sardinian dress is different to Northern... Italy has 4 main traditional dress regions, Catholicism is pretty big in Italy last time I checked. Slavic , alpine dress is different again, scottish dress is pretty famous - but there's different traditional dresses in many regions of the uk. There is great cultural diversity within Europe, it is demographic change mainly of young people moving to cities that is making it endangered most at the moment. Please don't write off the diversity of Europe you are doing a disservice to the Almighty.

This discussion is about North American white people in specific. But in Europe, what are the tribes and clans? These have vanished with Catholicism taking them away.

@@SakinaBinterik Culture changes over time. Just because these tribes have gotten wiped out, doesn't mean we don't have any culture anymore. As for traditional clothing: fashion just changes faster because capitalism encourages people to buy new stuff, but we still have cultural trends - it's just much less specifically tied to one piece of land.
And I'm suprised how you keep mentioning the catholic church only, look at how Islam homonegized the Middle East.

That is historically incorrect. WEIRD people were stripped of their rich cultural heritage by Catholicism. Muslims worldwide can easily trace their lineage back centuries and are still members of tribes

@physiocrat7143 Wait for further proof. The intention behind breaking up tribes was to force people to adopt the church as their tribe which stripped them of their strength and culture. I don't say all tribes are good, but what has happened due to the cancer of the Catholic church is from greed and evil

@@SakinaBinterik Lol as if Islam didn't push for cultural assimilation.
Arabic kingdoms rewarded Muslims with tax cuts. And see now how much original culture in the ME, Asia and Africa is starting to appeal to Islam. See how many women cover up their hair for a sense of "modesty."

In one sense, I agree, because 'whiteness' and 'blackness' are social constructs defined in totally different ways outside the U.S. (when they're used). For example,
there are no black people in Africa (see Ta Nehisi Coate's 'Between the world and me...etc. and how 'whiteness' included Italians in the U.S. only later for example as a power move, just like the Arabs that campagined to be counted as 'white' in order to vote, etc.), ...
but in another sense I disagree, as Noam Chomsky and others note
, the secret to American hegemony, is that it's largely invisible to most people because it presents itself as the necessary lens through which everyone must see the world (Western culture as normal/objective/ secular/scientific/ natural, "NOT CULTURE", etc, , so this line of thinking can also strengthen this Western imperial lens). I would say one way to define White culture (specifically for the U.S.)
is Secular Humanism or the paradigm of Protestantism (Western Enlightenment Philsophy approach to metaphysical beliefs)..
