In traditional Chinese culture or among the people, it is customary to refer to lotus as lotus. The lotus or lotus has special significance to Buddhism. In response to the secular world, Buddhists collectively call lotus and water lily the lotus, and give them a special meaning. The first is the lotus seeds in the lotus pod. No matter how many years they are left, once they encounter suitable conditions, they will take root again and grow beautiful lotus flowers. This lotus with tenacious vitality is regarded as the continuation and regeneration of life, which is equivalent to the concept of liberation from reincarnation in Buddhism.
The second is the petals of the lotus, which represent the realms of different people. Ordinary people only have about a dozen petals, saints or Bodhisattvas have hundreds of petals, and Buddha has thousands of petals, which is called the Thousand-leaf Lotus. Why does the Tiantan Buddha of Baolianzhu Temple sit on lotus petals? It refers to the Thousand-leaf Baolian. It is to tell us that as long as we work hard, people will make varying degrees of progress.
The third special meaning is a true Buddhist meaning, which is purity. The mud is like the world of mortals that monks and believers live in. If you can escape from the mud without being stained, even if you are born in the mortal world, you will still not be tempted by fame and fortune, and you can be an upright person. In Buddhism, the lotus is the most ideal inspirational object for practice. Plant a lotus and see its beauty; plant a lotus and observe how it emerges from the mud without being stained; plant a lotus and see its tenacious vitality; plant a lotus and see its tenacious vitality; Going to the lotus and seeing the endless life, there is infinity, which can give people a complete sublimation of life.
