My 3 month old emu’s neck swells up after she eats, and she tilts her head back like she’s uncomfortable when it happens. It takes about 5-10 min for the lump to move down her throat, and then she’s fine. Any idea what this could be?
Excellent question. She's probably just swallowing too much at one time. Mine tend to gulp the food in huge mouthfuls. If she ever appears to be in real distress, have her examined by a veterinarian.
Thank you!!! Always enjoy seeing what is up with ya'll!
Alfalfa pellets, whole grains, and literally any feed works. Goat feed makes sense, the mineral needs of emus are similar to that of goats.
It works great for me. I need to keep things simple.
So what is the brand and product called? I didn’t find a link
I feed my ostriches Alfalfa its a really easy to grow comestibile plant for them and they seem to like it a lot even the chicks like it

@@DaybirdAviaries Ok, thank you for the response!
My Macaws steal the dog's food. But then again, so does the cat!
My dog steals the cat’s food, and my emu steals the dog’s food.
Do you breed your emus?
so much for the link I guess
