Houston's Biggest Fishing Secret!!!

    Six years ago, I threw a line into a random bayou running through the heart of Houston and ended up discovering the city's best kept fishing secret: these inner-city bayous are absolutely loaded with all kinds of fish!
    Seriously, the vast majority of the city's four million inhabitants have no idea that underneath all the concrete, steel, and glass are fish.

      I’ve heard that catch and release still causes death in a lot of the fish released. Is this bullshit?
      I’d like to hear from a fisherman or hunter. I want to fish catch a release more but I’m concerned.

    'Best video ever...' Well, it's a great watch, and your self-deprecating humour is a rare and refreshing quality in angling vids. From my UK perspective it's fascinating to see these muddy, urban Texas waters and what a diversity of species they harbour. I am amazed that nobody else seems to fish them (apart from you and those Pigpatrol chaps). Can that be right? Tight lines...

    Less bait is required on a mission so light and dainty. About the size of a golf ball is a good size pack bait. At that point your just lowering your hookup ratio if there's food everywhere. A 50lb carp will pick up and eat a single piece of corn if it comes acrost it.

    Some other good spots on the bayous and creeks on the north side of town. You could do guided trips for asian anglers. They love carp fishing. The invasive species shouldn't be put back as per TPWD direction in the state fishing rules. Plenty of wildlife to eat them on the bank. Coyotes run the bayous at night. Might make a good meal. Great fishing.

    • @brian1204
      @brian1204 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You need to distinguish between common carp and grass “carp”. The grassers are invasive. The commons, not.
      Also, don’t throw them up on the banks!
      That is wanton waste of edible fish, also illegal re: tpwd regs.

    In europ the middle weight of common carp is about 16 pound. But every session I catch a 20 pounder , and they are real fighters . The bigger ones plus 30 pound are verry hard to catch because they know the bait and the smell, so if you go real carpfishing you better take several kind of baits with you. Sommetimes I fish and for 2 hours I didnt get anny bites, and if I change my bait its the one afther the other . The biggest common carp I ever caught was 32 pound. But most of the carpfisher have caught common carp from over 40 pound . They only getting that big if they have lots and lots of food ....

      @@wildlifefishingshow Wowza! Thanks for replying! Are alligator gars edible? Just wondering though I don't eat fish and any peacock bass or snakeheads there?

      Bro, do your research. Common carp are considered naturalized in the state of Texas.
