How strange to be so deeply touched by a woodworking video. I’m not a softy like this normally but combine a really awful week with such a touching soundtrack, such craftsmanship, the powerful absence of speech and it combines to a wonderfully heartfelt video, thoroughly enjoyed.
That is both excellent and inspiring! In the 70’s we ‘surfies’ would make picture frames from pallet wood around surf photos/posters. I used to burn off the grain with my fathers port-a-gas blowtorch. Mostly the wood wasn’t straightened nor planed, just cut and burnt. Good to see this method is still alive! Great work.
I watched it in lunch break, otherwise I generally put the sound volume down for TH-cam DIY's. The strumming is great, the project, with lot of love and affection, the love of a brother, priceless!
This was amazing. Thank you. Not only was that a very thoughtful gift, but you have given me some ideas for using all the pallet pieces I have in my shop.

Flipping heck I have bloody struggled for years trying to line up hinges on the lids of boxes I have made, I have never seen that trick with the super glue before. Thank you I will use that method for years to come.

Brett, the only thing I might do differently is when you drill the holes, they make those "snappy" brand, self centering hinge drill bit set. I use those and they work real good. Available at Amazon.
That was a great project,looked like fun. Someday or miracle I'll have all those fun toys, right now I work with a 15 yr old skill saw an a cordless drill an my imagination to make up for everything else. Thanks for the knowledge an the time. David Ruiz, San Antonio, tx.

Now I just need a router and a router table and a jointer and I should be pretty much set. This looks like a fun project. I'm currently in the process of restoring an old thrift short magazine table that has a built in lamp and a wooden record/stereo cabinet.
Nice box project and very well done from a filming standpoint. I have some nice oak, cedar and poplar pallet wood that is lying around and you have lit a fire under me to get busy! Thank you!!!
Beautiful box, well done :) I loved that trick you used to place the lid with glue. I will start using that one in my box builds :) I have that same hand plane you were using. It works well enough, but I hated the adjustment mechanism, if you get a chance try to get your hands on a plane that has the standard bailey adjustment knobs/mechanism. It's amazing what a difference that makes in making the plane easier to use. After having tried both types I wouldn't go back.
When seeing the final product, I had some doubt about that being made from firewood, but in the building process was pretty clear that was palet wood. Great job!
