    A pair of iconic versatile entertainers. The likes of which will never be seen again.

    John Payne was one of my favorites. Fun to see him and Alice Fay together. Thanks for sharing. 😎

    I had no idea John Payne was a song and dance man. He sings quite well and this is a very tricky song to pull off. He even moves well. Alice Faye never ages. Forever young. These were real stars, not the "personalities" we have today.

    It's so wonderful to see Alice Faye and John Payne recreating their screen magic in the live theatre. I love how little Alice needs to do in order to delight an audience. There's nothing missing in their high kicks during the dance and their vocals are impeccable. Two class acts!

      Isn't it amazing that all these years later..and long after it's forgotten the first time around that we now can resurrect and remember the times and entertainment that were. We are the lucky ones.

    What energy they had at their age! I loved them both in the Carmen Miranda films. He's still handsome, too.

    There's a delightful posting of this same tune sung by Alice during the radio show that she and husband, Phil, put on in the '50's; it's wonderful if you haven't heard it.

    I"m glad I'm young enough to have gotten to see some of these great classic stars of the films and stage, even this show... I don''t recall much besides seeing Miss Faye.

    If people ever want to tell me that today’s movie stars are the best, I will refer them to this and their movies if the 30’s and 40’s. They both still got it. Payne was a Great Noir and Western actor too. They don’t make them like this anymore.

    • @JRobbySh
      @JRobbySh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Payne’s acting here is more natural than when he was young. Could be, tho, that his accident made him more careful.

    Alice Faye does it for me. Good thing for Phil Harris I wasn't born until '52 ..

    It's good to see Payne dancing in 1974 considering he was hit by a car in 1961 and it took two years to recover. I wonder if he suffered pain while doing this show with Alice Faye.

    I literally had never seen John Payne in his later life, only in the movies from the '40s, and I almost didn't recognize him here. His face just seemed different -- perhaps due to the scars from his accident. Then, at 0:56 he tilts his head back and to the right -- and there he is!

    One of my favorite songs, with an anachronistic orchestration. What's next, a rock 'n' song performed like a madrigal?

    Ineffably charming. Alice Faye is somehow an enormously witty performer just doing a rather corny vaudeville turn.
