If your eyes do not rain tears, your soul can have no rainbow (Native American wisdom ) More than a song, this was Eva's prayer. Rest in peace Eva, God bless
Wonderful reaction. Just subscribed. Eva can also blow the roof off with powerful vocals. Eva's ''Blues in the Night'' is the opposite vibe of Rainbow, but just as amazing.
Hi! "Over the Rainbow" is a ballad by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg. It was written for the 1939 film, the Wizard of Oz, in which was sung by Judy Garland in her starring role as Dorothy Gale. It won the Academy Award for best original song and became Judy Garland´s signature song. Eva Cassidy´s version of this song amazing!
So so sad to have lost Eva Cassidy in such tragic circumstances all those years ago. She had a stunning voice and delivery. Just wonderful hearing this again.
This was recorded early January 1996. She was a simple nurse trying to make her scene debut. Sadly, in June of the same year she was diagnosed with a skin cancer and in November of the same year she left us. She was one of a kind, able to master ballads, blues, jazz, … and to reinvent standards thru her covers. She was only rediscovered a few years later, in the UK, when the BBC exhumed her songs in a TV show. This was a deflagration and millions of records were immediately sold WW. She has inspired many artists thru her covers. For instance, Angelina Jordan did a cover of Field of Golds that was a pure copy paste of Eva’s version.
Thank you for this. I think Angelina's version is similar but not a copy and paste version. In fact it compliments Eva's version very well as their tone is a bit different. The mashup version of Eva and Angelina doing a virtual duet of Fields of Gold is stunning.
@@roselinesunday1848 actually to take that a step further, although Angelina and Eva both did independent versions of Fields of Gold, there is a mashup virtual duo video of them singing it together. A wonderful experience!
Even after a couple months of hearing this every day, I still breakdown in tears of joy. If she doesn't touch your soul then consider yourself clinically dead. The first time I heard a reaction to this, it split my soul in half and mended it back together.
I agree. It was hard to hear what she was saying. The guitar was intrusive, especially after the tune we just heard. It would have been nice to keep that tune reverberating in our minds while listening to her review. I couldn’t hear her, so I just paused the video while writing this and went elsewhere.
She had a cold during this performance and she considered it not her best. Guitar work is complicated but she made it sound easy. She died 9 months after this.
If you enjoyed Eva Cassidy, another viewer give you some background information below. A few other songs I'd recommend by her include Fields of Gold Time after Time Bridge over trouble water Danny Boy Songbird People get ready
Eva wasn't too well here, although you would never know. Eva never really got the accolade she deserved. Eva was really brought to the forefront by the late great Sir Terry Wogan on his Radio 2 show Wake up with Wogan ,who brought her brilliant ability to radio. Eva was signed by a small label in Brighton . Unfortunately both are gone. Eva was playing here in her favourite place I think the club is Blues Alley. To think this was only a b side ❤️
Please consider removing the background music behind your voice, it takes away from hearing your voice and comments, which I would love to focus on more clearly -- just a thought. Do with this comment as you want. I see one other commenter has said the same. We would like to hear what you are saying, but it seemed drowned out by that music. Keep going and good luck with your channel. (Good to see you get as involved in the music of Eva--and feeling--as we also do). The best to you.
It literally makes me so mad that she died so young. Her melanoma could have been taken control of. People please always be aware of your body and if you see changes go to the Dr please.

There is also a beautiful virtual duet mashup of Angelina Jordan and Eva Cassidy doing Fields of Gold
Amazing that people are just hearing this masterpiece for the 1st time 28 years after her too soon death at the age of 33, back in 1996

Fantastic song; thanx for the memories Roseline! I couldn't hear all your comments over the guitar you played after the song though.

Regrettably his cd did not get the same wide air play until after she died.

Suggestion! Don’t make audible sounds during the music! Very distracting!
Please take the background guitar off. It makes it difficult to hear you. I'll bet it was a great reaction if I heard it.
Thanks I will take it off thanks for watching 🤗🤗
