It's probably going to be the best Elan ever to exist, not only is he restoring it to factory new, but updating some troublesome components and doing it without a budget just burning into it all the cash in the world, fantastic.
Okay Jay, still waiting for the final Video on the Lotus. I have enjoyed Dr. Jim's work on this project. It should be amazing to see on the street. Thanks Dr. Jim for all your work and help in spending Jay's money. Truly nice work.
Awesome video J. From aLotus fan from almost birth, its nice to see some love the other side of the pond for this great mark. Looking forward to seeing it complete!
I so would love to see the next update on this car. Jim's attention to detail is awesome. I really wanna hear the roar of the engine, & watch the bang-bang-bang of the gears. Of course another burning question: Will it do a burn out? LOL (I'm sure it will very easily, but still fun to watch)
would love to do a ground up restoration of my s13 silvia, something satisfying about every bolt, panel and rubber being like new. its on the bucket list.
Jay, don't let Jim go!!! Jay, don't let Jim go!!! Jay, don't let Jim go!!! 3 things to remember O, please say hello to Bernard Thanks for all the great vids.
he's got the boom boom pow, that dude is jacking jay's style, he's got mechanical swagger, let's see his next fix now, will it be a sixty eight? with a carburated big V8? he's got that boom boom boom, the future... lemme see it now! :D
I'm no engineer but the Lotus backbone chassis would appear to have the torsional rigidity of pasta al dente. Does anyone have an opinion? Beautiful and respectful restoration BTW, Jay's gotta be the ultimate car guy. Nice to see a rich collector who knows how to wrench.
I do the same and I do have a.d.d. So it's not unfathomable that he is as well, especially becaus he's surrounded with so many things which is another sign of a.d.d since w'ere always working on different projects. :) It's not that he's being rude it's just that we're so into something we have a habit of speeding ahead of others.
i wish someone would just reproduce this chassis and forget about the body. it is so awesome to look at and i would love to build my own car on top of it.
Hay, Jay. Don't let your paint guy see you putting your hands all over the primed body. He'll flip. I recon this car will give you a grin so wide the top of your head might fall off. Symon. UK. Not too far from the Lotus factory.
power to weight ratio right not always about having the biggest engine kind of funny the last episode I watched was the Bentley turbo heaviest to lightest English Mark
Does this Jay dude actually read his comment section? A perfect example of a Lotus Super Seven derivate is the HKT RS Clubsport Super 7. It is not a kit car because it is not sold seperately but a concept pushed to the max.
Did he just say "we put these silicone plugs into the holes"? I am very happy that is not my sprayboot so there is no need for me to get upset and also no need for me to tear someones hair off.
did you see the builder guy chring when mr.leno said " i cant waite to BANG the gears" lol. even in a hobby shop . the diff betwine the driver/mechanic. are so far apart. lol
It's great to see someone with Mr. Leno's means still this excited about a project coming together.
I wish all Jays vids were this 1080 HD quality. Really does show off the beauty of the car.
I think the progress of the car is more interesting then the finished car. So thanks for showing us that! :)
Nice one Mr. Leno. Can't wait to see this little firecracker go !
You are my fav TV Show except Game of Thrones, The Borgias and Top Gear, Jay Leno Garage! And it's on youtube, all year!
1080p=new video= super grateful bowing down O TY JAY. mebbe that's just me
Im so pumped to see this complete. When its done we need a vid of this car on a road coarse!!!
It's probably going to be the best Elan ever to exist, not only is he restoring it to factory new, but updating some troublesome components and doing it without a budget just burning into it all the cash in the world, fantastic.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I love seeing the progress from start to finish.
An absolutely PERFECT sports car! The Quaife sequential box is a stroke of genius. A dream lotus....my envy cannot be contained!
I'm so jealous of this car. Such great, meticulous work that's gone into it.
Thanks Jay for keeping us updated on your projects. You the man.
I cannot wait to see this thing in action!
Can't wait to see this when it's done!
If I am this excited to see the car done and in action, honestly I can't imagine how Jay can sleep at night?
Awesome vid, thank you guys!
thank you again, Mr. Leno.
I can't wait to see jay drive this!
It's coming along nicely.
this is my favorite restoration thus far, I am SO excited to see the end result and see Jay drive it!

Thank you Jay
Awesome - looking forward to the result!
Thanks for the update, Jay!
Wow so cool. Love this show!
Love the Lotus Elan ...
The drivetrain looks exquisite :)
I so would love to see the next update on this car. Jim's attention to detail is awesome. I really wanna hear the roar of the engine, & watch the bang-bang-bang of the gears. Of course another burning question: Will it do a burn out? LOL (I'm sure it will very easily, but still fun to watch)
I went to the same school as Colin Chapman. A true British engineering genius.
If Jay built a rock, I'd watch it. It's cool that he is a REAL car guy.
on the edge of distortion! knock the gain down! Jay sounds fine.
This looks beautiful even before the body has gone on...
Great job, better than new.
would love to do a ground up restoration of my s13 silvia, something satisfying about every bolt, panel and rubber being like new. its on the bucket list.
Jim is the man, period.
I like the wheel treatment (gun metal gray/brake dust gray) centers and polished rim.
I can't wait!!!
It's Jim's dream car for Jay.
Cool video. Thanks for sharing
cant wait to see the final thing
That;s a fantastic car. I want to go on the test drive! Don't worry, I live near Denver.
Well spotted, especially in the paint booth there. Jay you a pro mate gotta look genuine at least! Still an awesome project there guys!
Very nice!
Wow, the gearbox goes inside the chassis frame, that's cool.
Very cool!
Beautiful :)
Start to Finish...cool.
Jay, don't let Jim go!!!
Jay, don't let Jim go!!!
Jay, don't let Jim go!!!
3 things to remember
O, please say hello to Bernard
Thanks for all the great vids.
Jay and his denim doppelganger
That will be awesome when its done
Can't wait

Thanks for sharing, Jay.
Broke down Vette owner

Beautiful and respectful restoration BTW, Jay's gotta be the ultimate car guy. Nice to see a rich collector who knows how to wrench.
Just saw his other video with the blue Elan in 'pure' form. So, I guess, why not sequential with this one. Great stuff.
That's a million dollar Lotus!
Jay, how about doing a Bonneville car for the next project? You have the perfect team to do one. Thanks for the vids
Awesome! I can't wait to see it do a burnout. :)
i'd love to see more of the actual work being done other than updates. would be cool :) awesome video but!
Those avon tyres look incredibly sexy. I can't wait to see the whole thing put together.
Keep up the awesomeness jay! You got a good team of guys there also! Kudos to them. :-)
I do the same and I do have a.d.d. So it's not unfathomable that he is as well, especially becaus he's surrounded with so many things which is another sign of a.d.d since w'ere always working on different projects. :)

Only 100lb more than an Atom?!, that's very light indeed!
i wish someone would just reproduce this chassis and forget about the body. it is so awesome to look at and i would love to build my own car on top of it.
Ok I have to admit I don't like the tonight show. but I love that it help jay pursue his love of anything with a motor!
If I was Jay, I would have Jim put more sound insulation around where the shifter is and on either side of the frame..
We need a new update!
cause his cars are his true passion, the Late Night Show is just the way he gets money to pay for it :D
Very naice!
i put on a few of those tires at v.i.r.
Does the body simply pop over the mechanicals and rolling chassis ?
Any update to this amazing project?
Greetings from Macau!

Symon. UK.

Hey 1080p......Thanks!!!!!!!
hay you you should do a video on your Suzuki hayabusa.
Does this Jay dude actually read his comment section? A perfect example of a Lotus Super Seven derivate is the HKT RS Clubsport Super 7. It is not a kit car because it is not sold seperately but a concept pushed to the max.
when is this from? is the car finished?
Yeah i get it .. Wanna buy a restored 1971 Vega .. Real Cream Puff !
It's so light you can just set it on your work bench.
Does it come with identity theft or a virus? I got one last week and I didn't get either of those with it and I was sooo bummed.
Jay check out Cokertire they reproduce all kinds of Vintage Tires.
Jay already finished rebuilding this LOTUS ???
Did he just say "we put these silicone plugs into the holes"? I am very happy that is not my sprayboot so there is no need for me to get upset and also no need for me to tear someones hair off.
he's pushing the whole chassis across the table, fuck thats light
Jay
I am surprised that TH-cam doesn't block your videos as porn! They are all sooo cool!
Or take extra shots to insert in editing
Wat color r u painting it?
better tether that thing , it'll float away in a good breeze..looks pretty trick.you sure it's not an AMT model kit!
1:42 watch out behind you theirs a ninja
Looks great but why sequential? That just goes against the essence of the car.
Is there an episode where J rebuilds that motor. I think I 20 minute video doesn't even come close to Justice Building that motor.
did you see the builder guy chring when mr.leno said " i cant waite to BANG the gears" lol. even in a hobby shop . the diff betwine the driver/mechanic. are so far apart. lol
are you sure you're talking about Jay Leno? Maybe Russel Brand? Still a nice guy, but kinda manic. I am sure you must have them confused.
Well, I believe at this point dividends from investments probably give him enough for the hobby and living. That's just an assumption though.
Would be great to put my rotary valve engine in this car.
i want a dogbox, i dont care how loud those straight cut gears are
