Always hated Fender acoustics. I must admit, I played a Redondo, and purchased one immediately. This is hands down my favorite guitar. The neck is so fast, and the tone is very different than anything else out there. This guitar really outperforms anything when cutting in a mix. Especially with any acoustic lead. Fender found a very unique niche with this thing. Well done indeed
I have a question. I've been playing a Fender stratacoustic for a little while, i loved that guitar because of the neck, i can see that these guitars have a similar neck to the stratacoustic. I was wondering would you recomend getting one of theese or a stratacoustic?
The strat acoustic had a great feel. Terrible sound in my opinion. The California series have incredibly fast necks, but…… they sound good also. No comparison
An interesting question now is: Has a 3/4 size Malibù guitar the same (or quite one) inner resonance room of a Dread but with an appreciable cut-away (or a cut-away OM ? ;-)
I tried one of each model yesterday at a local store. The edges are rough. I can almost get a cut The Yamaha APX600 which looks similar and $100 less is built better and sound the same if not better.
The Malibu could be called a Parlor Guitar as far as size.. Question is the neck scale same as a strat/tele it looks shorter like most acoustics? thanks
They're pretty terrible. I highly suggest you look into a Zager, Michael Kelly, pretty much anything else. I made the mistake of buying a Paramount series which are their "high end" acoustics...and I've had nothing but problems from it and the company when trying to get it fixed. The internal construction quality is akin to a 2nd grade art project and makes my 100$ laminate Samick look like a Custom Boutique in comparison. The actions are often a mile high and far above their already high factory spec "quality control check" of 2mm/2.5mm at the high E/low E respectively.
I have a Newporter Classic with light strings on it. They don't bend that well or easily. To me, my guitar wants to be picked or strummed and wants to be plugged in, the electronics are great. Unplugged it's alright but kinda quiet, especially finger picked, and not as thumpy as I prefer.

On the 19th of this month I'll have had my California Acoustic 32 year ,i purchased it on music row Sam Ash 48th st NYC.
I really like the small body on the Malibu. Good job Fender!
Just so you know, the California series first came out in the 80s. I have a Redondo purchased in about 1983. Sounds beautiful now.
my first new acoustic was an all ply Catalina...circa mid 80's...loved it

Cool new guitars, I like the Malibu. The well done jam at the end is a good demo of how decent the Fishman pickups on these new guitars sound.
Just got my 13 year old son the Newport. Its a good starter guitar and looks super nice.

It's from the loop they made earlier. The note comes in like every 30ish seconds.

Just more junk from fender instead of them actually fixing the seriously defective products and hit-or-miss quality control issues they already have.
