Great review you actually showed what this guitar is capable of not just hammering out generic cowboy chords like everyone else seems to do. Still would like to hear what it sounds like plugged in though.
At the very beginning of the video I thought “He’s going play a G.” And I waited for it to happen, but it took 3 minutes and 54 seconds (3:54) for it to happen.
Hi! I am planning to buy a guitar and was going over different Fender brands and would like to know if this one sounds good without amp? Please let me know!
Same. But I'm struggling to find what kind of strings to use on it for a warmer sound. I usually use D'Addario strings. But also usually play electric.
I added graphtec stringtrees. The G string had a buzz to it and the stringtree did the trick. I have this exact model and color. Sounds and plays great.
Late post but do you think this guitar is good for somone who wants to upgrade from a beginner guitar to Intermediate guitar if not any recommendations ?
Can anyone help me make a decision, I am trying to decide on the Player vs the Special series of this Newporter.. Is the extra money worth it for the Special?
When he says..."the sides and back aren't really getting into the action"... I dont agree... Laminate wood on a guitar vibrates just fine. As long as its not coated in heavy lacquer. There are thousands of 1 and 2 series' Taylors out there with their lamimated backs and sides that sound really good, are very popular, and keep going up in price... (now selling for upwards of a grand....& way overpriced) The big factor is the player factor. A good player can make even a 200-300 dollar laminate guitar sound pretty damn great.. Just sayin. This Fender is a good example of good tone for a great value, and having a cheap but good sounding knock-around guitar is a good idea to minimize the worry factor when out and about. I think I'll be giving this one a test drive.
I know this is an old video, but I'm just now getting back into guitar after a decade away and I didn't even know about this thing. I need an acoustic to accompany my Ibanez w dual humbuckers. We all need an acoustic right? I'm waiting on someone to talk me off the edge because this thing looks really cool to be so affordable
Which will sound better this or the all mahagony cd140sce from fender. Both cost the same but its very confusing while this has a spruce top that has a solid mahagony top
I’m trying to find an acoustic/electric to play in my church band. Currently using a Fender Classic dreadnought but it’s too boomy and I don’t need the powerful low end since we have a bass guitarist. I also won’t be playing lead. He wants me for the rhythm and for the sound of the acoustic guitar. I’m also far from skinny so a dreadnought isn’t the most comfortable to play sitting down in the small space I have where the band is set up. I was looking at this or possibly a Malibu, I’m afraid a Malibu is too small of a body and It’ll be too bright/high end.
Hey guys. I have had this guitar for about 3 years now. As iv progressed as a player, I was looking to upgrade. I havnt had the chance to get out and test many guitars yet but was looking at the Taylor 210ce plus. Would the Taylor be noticeably better or would it be a sideways step? Any advice is welcome!
@@AlamoMusic awesome thanks! if you happen to do one. Wondering if the sound is different in the aqua splash malibu player compared to the new natural malibu player since there is less paint covering sound.
I just bought it today jan 2021 and so far it doesn't sound as good as my Eastcoast guitar which cost £79!!!! I expected a lot better sound..it's too bright and my east coast sounds. lot better..so far im disappointed..its just too bright and doesn't have the depth of a guitar a fraction of it's price.I think it might sound better with a pick...plectrum to strum and I haven't tried it plugged in yet. It looks fantastic but doesn't seem to sound as good as on this video. (4 months and it's starting to sound better)
Thanks for checking back in. I bought this for my 13 year old son, and was hoping I had not made a mistake. I thought it sounded pretty good and I figured he could always plug it in and adjust, if needed.
@@johndaugherty4127 it's well worth the money...well worth it...and for a Fender as well! mine keeps sounding better the more i play it and i'm glad i bought it.....hope your son gets a lot of fun out of it..it's a hardy little guitar and should last for years.
GLADAGLASSEN Hallon sorbet anytime, you see, the thing that’s unique about the line is the newporter shape. Redondo is like regular dreadnought u can get from other guitars
Man, this guy's demos are always excellent. Straightforward, well-presented information. And my man can shred too! Give this man a raise.

I own one and play live shows with it. Great sound

This guitar has subtleties that you would not expect making it a useful all-around player.
I have this guitar, it’s amazing! I love it

@@noemiherrand1136 I think it does. Some folks prefer more full of a sound. But this guitar is good for a nice tight sound, especially when recording.
@@robbmars1686 I also don't know what gauge or brand of strings to put on it.
@@ozimbro i just recently got the D'Addario XT phosphor acoustic strings. (10 gauge)So far out of all the ones I've tried i like them best

Very nice sound for the money! 43mm = 1.69291 inches, roughly 1& 11/16th for you non-metric folks!
Thanks for tuning in and clearing that up for us, Craig!
Beatiful champagne color. I chose the black one, but i think the champgne is definetly awesome.
the color is adorable !!!

How do you get the electrics to work? Battery is in and I don't see a power on button.how to power this on?

This would be perfect in my opinion. Higher end sound than dreadnought with pick ups
God bless!
Thanks for the information that this kind of headstock isn´t used for the first time for an acoustic guitar.
Great review!
Cool playing bud
Sounds like a very good guitar. I’m starting to play more jazz and acoustic blues - so how would this guitar work for these genres…?
Hi! Could you help me answering what's the difference between this newporter player and the newporter special besides the colour?
The main difference is materials used in guitar's build
You can compare in detail on fender.com
The Special is all solid construction and the preamp/pickup is a bit different.
So beautiful, Sir.
What color is this. I'm a bit color blind. It's looks peach colored to me.
I think that's the natural finish but I could be wrong
its called 'champagne'. kinda silverish coluor ,it's really nice for the price.
Gran guitarra.Gran sonido.Gran control de calidad.

How loud is it unplugged? Are other guitars going to drowned it out?
It is a good one!
Is that finger pick permanent?
It sounds great, but what kind of microphone do you use? Greetings!
We used a Shure 181/S !
Thanks!
Is it possible to create a comparison video with this new Fender California Newporter Player and the also new Yamaha CPX600?
I don't understand why they haven't done it =/
what colour is this
What is the better sounding guitar: Fender Newporter Player or Taylor GS Mini e ? Thank you.
Great review. Is the neck the same scale as the electrics? that's what I'm looking for.
thanks
Yes
It was designed with electric players in mind.
I had a 1980's Fender LaBrea acoustic and it had that same headstock...dont need to go back to the 1800's
