    So, I been thinkin about this... I've watched this vid like a hundred times because I want a mini fix so freakin bad! Anyway, I think if a guy did barrel break-in with supersonics, it would hasten the break-in period due to the extra friction on the rifling from the higher pressure/more heat/friction of supers. Then everything, including subs, would group tighter. Just a random thought. Thanks for making this vid! Its the most mini fix shooting footage on the net!

      @@KitBadgerI'm a hunter myself and i feel that it *could* be unethical, considering that immediate incopasitation is less likely with a subsonic load compared to something that is going over 2000fps and i understand shot placement is everything. But penetration is going to be far less or at least energy tranfer will be far less. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

    • @KitBadger
      @KitBadger  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@dylanwatkins1019 you already said it man, shot placement is everything. I came into hunting late, from the military. And the more time I've spent around hunters, the more unethical I think a lot (not all) of them are on a whole. Duplex reticle, no idea of what their drop is for different ranges, not confirming zero, no fundamentals of marksmanship or understanding of creating a good shooting position and often shooting beyond their capability... The first 3 or 4 deer I took when I started hunting were with head shots. 5.56 out of an AR, some of which with open sights, all probably around 50 yards. Not one of them took a step. But if you ask hunters if that was ethical, they would largely say no...

      @@KitBadger i would agree with you on all those point about *alot* of hunters. The way im looking at it is, yeah subsonic 300blk is cool, it's Hollywood quiet and has its merits. But your already using a rifle. So why not use 110gr-150gr and get the full potential of said round? It's not like your hunting with a handgun. By the way im glad be could have a civil discord. Its not to common on the internet 😄.....

      @discreetballistics2932 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kylevanwinkle2081 With subsonic 300BLK bullets that's actually more of an issue with fracturing (not expanding) bullets. We've measured bullet penetration 13-16" depending on the velocity. Sure, subsonic bullets have a energy deficit compared to supersonic bullets, and no doubt expanding supersonic bullets will be more traumatic. This doesn't mean skilled hunters can't take game ethically within 100yds. Subsonic hunting is not for everyone.
