TLDR: I struck sales associate gold the first time I went to the Hermes store ever even though I looked absolutly terrible that day: Once, I ordered a bracelet on the Hermes website and had it shipped to the Hermes store of my city in france. When I went to the store to get the item mind you, I was in the midst of the most brutal depression I've ever experienced I dragged myself there looking like a homeless person I kid you not, thinking it's only a picking up my order and walking right out situation. For some reasons..... the sales associate offered me a drink while he had to serve the customer he was already engaged with and when he came back with my item he asked that I try it to make sure everything and sizing was perfect, then proceeded to tell me all he knew about the item and offered that I try other bracelets I could stack with it in the future understanding full well that I wasn't going to buy something else on the spot. I went there looking defeated, mated hair, unshowered and wearing a nice adidas tracksuit but that I had on my back since forever I assume........ ordered again, same process, went back looking way better, SA recognizes me and makes me feel like a VIP client in front of every other customer. I am no one, I'm not famous, I'm not some big shot that could explain how nice they were to me reguardless of what I looked like the first time I went there to pick up my first ever Hermes purchase, a little pick me up gift to myself in my dire situation back then, turns out the SA heavy lifted me up with how well he treated me (in a way he way better than a shrink that day haha) and that bracelet now is super special. I am so sorry that I walked in that store looking like that the first time, but so grateful that again, for whatever reason, I got treated as if I had just walked in with an exotic birkin ???? So you know how we overthink how to dress to go to the luxury store to be treated like we matter ? Sounds like it's more on the SA's attitude and how they personally genuinly want to treat other people. I have a little bit of money to spend, I cannot afford influencer amounts of luxury goods but I'll be spending my money at Hermes again. I love the brand, and their SA made me such a loyal customer best believe I'm going to stack the hell out of these bracelets, yes sir.

And every time you wear your bracelet, it will remind you of that SA and that human kindness still exists. I bought a small gold bracelet in Florence, Italy, several years ago. I was having a bit of a difficult time, and the store owner where I bought the bracelet showed me such kindness that day. I still wear that bracelet nearly every day. And I still think of how kind that store owner was to me. It brings a smile. Wear your bracelet(s) and enjoy them. There's good energy attached! I hope they bring a smile to your face every time you put them on!

When I lived in Greece 2017-2019 I always got great service at Louis, champagne and a seat at a table where she would bring me stuff I might like, small Parfums for free, the works! I loved it, and I was even happier with my items because of the fond memories I had getting them
Fast forward to April 2023 the
last time I went to Louis in Italy (I live in Iceland now, we don’t have a Louis) the sales associate didn’t want to show me anything, I wanted a black leather every day bag, like a speedy or a Lockme ever, and he was just like “just go to the airport, we focus on the monogram here”, he then added that he did have a leather speedy in pink, and I was like omg pink is my favorite color can I see it, and he said “no, you said you wanted black”… so I went to the airport, turns out there was no Louis in my terminal.

My first experience at Chanel was horrible. It made my husband refuses to step into any boutiques after that. The SA I was assigned for was like I know I know even before I finished speaking and he moved on to something else. It was the time when you are still allowed to reserve the classic flap with a written paper and credit card on it. He asked me the code of the bag, and I was stunt as I didn’t know the product code. The other SA tried to step in to help, but he refused to get any help, and I was there scrolling through Chanel website trying to get the product code😂. As I was deciding between small or medium, I asked if I can try the bags to see the size. He refused to as he said he didn’t have the exact color I wanted. I asked if I can try any color I just wanted to see the size, and he said no. I walked out confusing. A few months later, he texted me in a rude way saying I have to go now as he can’t hold longer than 24 hr. I live 40 mins away from the boutique and while driving he kept texting asking where I was. Overall, terrible experience. Glad I then found two nice SA at Chanel.

@@SuperDacob thank you Dacob. I thought it was me who haven’t done a good research on the product. A year later my friend was looking for a mini 2.55. My nice SA was off that day so we waited outside in the line and were accidentally placed with that horrible SA again. He had a red mini 2.55 I wanted and a black my friend wanted, but he pissed my friend off after a few sentences he spoke to her😂. We decided to walk out even though my heart shouted for that mini2.55, went back an hour later and were placed with a good SA and got what we wanted.

I agree. I have also been buying online when I know exact item with color/size I want because it is easier. I had a bad experience while traveling last summer in LV but just back from Vancouver BC and went in Gucci, Dior, Prada and LV and met some the best SAs who went out of their to help, talk, share info on their city. The LV store was under construction and they occupied just a tiny area for now but they were the nicest, happiest bunch! I bought in LV for me and Prada for my daughter's bday. The experience made me believe in lux shopping in store again!

Didn't husband and I go through this situation just last week! At Hermes in King of Prussia Mall, PA. SA didn't want to even open the case that the sterling silver bracelet was in for husband to look at. She just said it was for women (so she thought) today husband has been on the phone with Hermes because he really wants that bracelet! We found out they do not receive calls at the location we were at so he got re-directed to a customer service number I used to let people like this intimidate me, but I don't anymore They are not going to treat me like dirt under the carpet. I always think to myself: "How many Birkins does she have?" H.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I bet she doesn't even own one. I got better service in Las Vegas where there is super high rollers and tons of wealthy, really wealthy people.

Dacob you are spot on about the luxury shopping experience. I bought a card holder at a boutique and I realize a card holder is a small purchase and I was not offered a drink. I was offered a beverage when I bought a bag in the past. I know people have different opinions on this but a glass of champagne or a sparkling water is part of a luxurious experience to me. The lines at luxury stores these past few years have discouraged me from going into certain stores. However, my friend did mention she went into Tiffany's to buy a small wallet and they offered her a glass of champagne....very classy. xoxo

    • @SuperDacob
      @SuperDacob  ปีที่แล้ว +2

It also depends how busy that day is and how stressed the sales associate is too. If they are more at peace and if the store is not too full then they also have more time for us so calmer and more relaxed service is probably going to happen. I would also never recommend going shopping on the weekends. The boutiques are always way too crowded on the weekends and the sales associates have less time for each client then. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually my sweet spot in the week for shopping. 😉💖

The LV shopping experience is not a luxury feeling anymore. At south coast location it’s so busy and I couldn’t even think straight with all the noise and people. The sales associates were useless and we had one throwing the bag around and put out and she was on her phone scrolling through stuff completely ignoring us.
Fashion valley was better and we had a good SA but that location annoyed us when my wife had an agenda that was couple months old and glazing was cracking off. They said we’ll look all the other ones we have here are cracking there too so it’s fine. I was like just because they are all cracking doesn’t make it ok. It’s clearly a design flaw. We have spent thousands and thousands and still they couldn’t be bothered to make things right.
Then they banned me for 2 years with zero notice because I bought too many things. Why didn’t anyone in the store warn me? They let transactions go through then I tried to buy online and order was cancelled and I got an email banning me for 2 years.
It’s like they keep abusing us but we go back for more lol. There is just a few more pieces we want and then hopefully we can move onto something else.

I actually visited LV in Malaysia so many times and I got put off so many times because they think I couldn't afford anything. I would just walk off and go to Gucci across their shop every time because the staff there treated me better. Always end up getting something with Gucci in the end. But this April, I finally found a sales associate in LV that took his time to get to know me and recommended me a bag. He spent 3 hrs talking to me to find the best bag that would suit my needs and style. Even gave me a shop tour. In the end I got another bag from LV from them after 13 years. I spent more that my initial budget but it was worth it as he actually took the time to talk to me instead of trying to sell me a bag.

Hello Jacob. I totally agree that luxury customer service is disappearing. I am dedicated to training in luxcustomer services and the most interesting thing is that the majority of luxury stores believe that they have excellent service and nothing to improve. Your solution seems fine to me although as you said it is something long term that you can't do when you travel. Of course, the treatment is much better when you are a buyer and they know you, but there are many people who want a luxury product and are treated poorly because of their appearance or because they do not buy regularly.

Hey! Love your videos. I just wanted you to know this isn’t just a luxury fashion problem.
Car brands like Porsche have a barrier for entry as well. You have to develop a relationship with a sales person by buying (several) cars from the dealership that you don’t really want or like before you’re allowed to place an order for a car you do want like a 911 sports car.
Wait lists for specialty cars go years or you can buy one that makes it to a dealer lot for sometimes 100k over the msrp.
I just found this out when I went into Porsche a few days ago looking to place an order for a car. I have purchased two brand new Porsches in the last year but my sales person moved onto another brand so in some respects I was essentially told to start over with a new person

    • @SuperDacob

I just shopped at the large LV boutique inside the Crystals in Vegas, and I had a wonderful experience. All of the SA’s were friendly and when I told the attending SA that it was my first boutique visit, he went out of his way to make it memorable and I only purchased a wallet. I was wearing jeans, Gucci slides, a t-shirt and a vintage Epi Speedy. I usually only shop pre-loved, but I may do this again.

Hi Dacob! Love your videos as always! ❤️ I completely agree shopping in these luxury stores is not like it use to be. I use to shop a lot a LV prior to the pandemic. I have a wonderful sales associate that always spent as much time I needed even if I didn’t end up buying anything that time. She was so great that if she saw I had an hesitation on an item she would always talk me out of buying it at that time and tell me to go home and think about it and if I wanted it in a week or even more she would have the item ready for me. She never pressured me to buy anything and never made me feel rushed. Anytime I had issues with any of my items regardless if I bought them directly from the boutique or preloved she would have them fixed or replaced. Fast forward to the pandemic in 2020 and she no longer worked there as well as many other tenure sales associates who were as equally pleasant. I had an issue with a pochette Métis I purchased from the store and the new manager hire after this made me feel rushed and basically turned me away saying there’s nothing he can do to help me! Safe to say I haven’t stepped foot there again since! For the prices you pay on these luxury goods you should be made to feel like you don’t deserve the item or made to feel like you are just inconveniencing the sales associate

I went to LV to pick up an online order (I was afraid it wouldn't be available so I ordered online for in-store pick-up, the boutique was near my job, so wanted to go in and see the recent remodel/get in-store feeling (plus my mom once received an empty box from LV for a $900 wallet!)). No line, but more packed than a Wal-Mart in there. The SA tried to help a "richer-looking" lady before me. The other customer was polite and said that I was there first. I wasn't dressed up or with a nice bag because I was hitting a great farmers market in a sketchy neighborhood after, but I was still put-together-looking. So the SA goes and gets my SLG and starts checking me out on the computer. Didn't show it to me, let me look to even make sure it was the right item!? I took it out myself to inspect...It was clearly a returned item. It was a hard to get zippy card case I wanted years ago that never could get (even through SA's around the country I had a relationship with, really hard to get), and now I learned about it available in a color that was perfect...btw also have a spend history of years and expensive items. The card slots were all stretched out! I won't be returning. There's a more chill boutique a bit farther away but with the more personal service and not packed with looky-loos (store I mentioned this happened in was like that too just a few years ago). Similar experiences in other places (Bergdorf, Goyard Boutique??!) Great advice about sticking to one SA you vibe with. Love your content!

“It’s not you. It’s me. I’m the problem, it’s me.” 😅 I think I’ve only used this once (and it worked!) and at that time, I was 99.5% sure that if the Sales Associate did check it, my returned item would pass all their requirements but I only did it because I wanted to get it done and over with quickly. Funny how our relationship tools (for the toxic ones or not) do apply to our luxury life too. Will surely keep this in my arsenal. 😉

honestly i get you. i went into this jewelry store with my brother to buy a piece of jewelry for a really good friend of mine. and they legit wouldn't let us into the store and wouldn't give us a reason why. it came to a point where I had to show a very expensive piece of jewelry FROM THAT SAME BRAND that my mom gave to me to even be LET IN TO THE STORE. its come to a point where if you're not dripped in belenciga, chanel or any other expensive designer brand they think you have no money so you are not worth serving. i really don't understand it because those SA's are no different to someone who works in a deparenment store. like honey ur job is to sell me a product whether I look like I have the money or not, not to decide whether I can go into the store to buy something.

I just recently bought a belt from them, not only was the CA was pleasant but I enjoyed the knowledge that they offered to me. It made me appreciate the brand even more. Now I have been to a Chanel boutique and they made me feel out of place, not always it definitely depends on the person. I find the older CA 's are more inclined to assist me than the younger CA. First time going to Cartier my experience was very pleasant, I don't care for Tiffany's in NYC on Wall Street, but I did have a very pleasant interaction with the employees of Harry Winston Once again find the more seasoned CA more helpful.

Oh man I used the same reasoning when I returned a crochet skirt to Theory last year. The first skirt I received had small pulls that made it look sloppy. So I exchanged for another in store. The second skirt I received was even worse condition. The sales associate kept insisting it’s to be expected because it’s so delicate…. If it’s so delicate then you should be handling this skirt with kid gloves! So I said to her… “it’s one thing if I damage an item myself and I have to live with my carelessness, it’s another to purchase an item in new condition that is already damaged by someone else. I can’t live with that.” And that shut her up and she processed the return.

Yes, I totally agree. I went to LV with a friend and the SA refused to serve her because she dress very causal and they just ignore her but turn the eyes on me with a smile. I was so upset. I immediately told the SA that my friend wanted to buy a wallet and but they still showed the look that she cant afford. After one look at the wallet, my friend just said "I get that". then the SA showed with a smile. OMG! what is luxury shopping experience? whats wrong with these SAs? sad

Its like a fun time when we all gather together and talk while I get my makeup ready for the main livestream show each Saturday. We also get to talk about things that are usually not for youtube standards. Haha. Hi Dacob❤️about a month ago I wanted to buy a bag but just didn’t know what I wanted…I don’t buy one particular brand I buy what ever I like this time I truly had no idea but was going to buy…so I did every luxury boutique…I was extremely surprised the service I got the SA’s were helpful and polite…I remember walking in Dior I was wearing one off their knits and earrings the SA said wow your dripping in Dior I laughed and said I forgot what I’m wearing they did have something I liked but didn’t buy as my cousin has it..finally I bought the Saint Laurent Manhattan bag they didn’t have in store just the display the SA made sure they could get me one and had it delivered home. As a former SA I think sometimes it’s the luck of the draw they either like you or not 🤷‍♀️ I remember the pressure we had to meet our sales targets so unfortunately when their very busy they tend to go where they think the money is…sad but true…hopefully things will start to change and we can get back to that old fashion service….happy shopping guys ❤️❤️❤️from Australia 🇦🇺

The only store I've gone into is literally Coach. Got treated like a queen and had 2 SAs helping me each time, offered beverages, had good laughs, swapping handbag stories, etc etc. I didn't even spend a ton in there it didnt matter to them. My entire LV collection on the other hand (just 9 at this point), I've bought online 🤣😂 I don't like lines, crowds, drama and have 0 tolerance for condescension lol. I'm traveling to Dallas soon and I've debated if I want to subject myself to the in person lux process. Thinking about calling the stores ahead and seeing about making an appointment even though I don't have an SA. "It's not you it's me" 🤣😂🤣 I don't know why it all has to be so serious. Luxury is and should be fun and not cumbersome. If you don't like people you shouldn't be an SA 🤣😂 speaking as someone who works in sales in another field 😂🤣 Sometimes you're the breath of fresh air someone needs in a long day. People like that should just quit. If you act like that in my field, in time it will all just go online and there will be minimal need for salespeople, especially sour ones. From what I heard about their pay structure it doesn't sound like a pleasant place to work anyway so maybe I'll just bring them cookies 🤣😂. Anywhoo random thoughts 😂

McLuxury!😂 It’s all so hit and miss, seriously. But those first impressions when you meet your first SA are very impactful. I only went to LV once and the SA kept bringing out bags are squished up like they had been vacuum sealed and if she didn’t see the horror on my face she was dim. She threw them around on the counter top all piling up on one another. She had long fake nails and was pinching and scratching at the bags setting them up. It was a horror show and I couldn’t get out of there quick enough! I have never been back to a boutique - i see things online and I think they’re lovely but I cannot return. I don’t think that reflects the house at all - but it does for me and I can’t shake it. It could have gone the other way entirely and I could have an LV bag collection but instead I have a Chanel bag collection and ready to wear because my first SA was just so good. But she could have been terrible or just not a fit - point is those first impressions stick and houses need to do better to ensure each potential new customer is hooked from the first,

You want top notch treatment? Don’t luxury shop in the first world. I save my money to shop when I go back home in Brazil. All brands are available in São Paulo and Rio, and as unfortunately inequality is rampant there, these stores are usually very empty and the SAs go above and beyond. I get champagne for shopping even at outlet stores. North America and Europe Im lucky to get acknowledged.

@@youlookbananas if you have a limited and very demanding consumer base able to afford your goods, you better pamper them or they do take their business elsewhere. Is it decent? No, I have strong feelings about how the Brazilian elites behave, but anyways, not being too deep about it, with my workers upper medium class income in Canada I’m wealthy back home.
So I rather just buy there with calm and tip the SAs when I can. Also I keep a Brazilian credit card still for those things and everything even at the boutiques can be paid in up to 10 monthly installments by Brazilian issued credit card, no interest, as long as the monthly installment is 1000 brl or more, which is roughly 200usd/month. But one most have the funds for the whole purchase value.

Its that Ab Fab situation where Edina talks to the art gallery sales person, isn’t it? But also, I often ask myself if the sales associates that work in these places even care at all to have products from the brands they work for? Its a mystery to me… some just seem to not care at all or have been exposed to these products for so long that these products in the end lose all desirability for them… I wonder…

I loved shopping at Tiffany recently. I went there to try on a ring. The SA was super nice and when I went back with my husband and my daughter to buy the ring a week later, the SA recognized me and offered us sparking water and was very accommodating when i inquired about the clarity/color of diamonds (this information was not readily available at the time of purchase).
When I go to Hermes I always text me SA for an appointment and get an hour with him. I never had a bad experience at Hermes and I always feel treated with respect by a knowledgeable associate even when I pop in unannounced.
    Same with Chanel.
I had to wait in line only at the Dior store. That felt out of the norm. I tried on a dress in store, they did not have my size. So I just bought it online in my size and got it delivered. But I really would have liked to buy it in store. To be fair it was that one time. Every other time I went to Dior especially in France, I felt like I was treated very well.

The brand experience and items themselves have lost their joy factor. Luxury is boring and overexposed. I am so happy that I collected my lifelong items years ago. I would not put myself through this under any circumstances. Luxury shopping is like domestic airline travel in the US. It used to be an elegant experience-no more.

Honestly, i look like a crazy blue-haired person but I walk in without a care and just am happy to look at the gorgeous clothing without giving two craps. In the past 20+ years I’ve worked with a few very sweet and friendly SAs at different boutiques (Chanel, BV, Celine). I especially loved the two Japanese older SAs at my local Chanel back in the 2000s. Eventually they both retired and with the insane price increases and bad qualities I rarely bought any more Chanel item. I also lost my interest in BV and Celine shortly after my SAs left. Then with online shopping being so easy these days I buy online most of the time if I can. So these days I don’t really have any relationship with SA per se except with one NM SA for fine jewelry. Nowadays I feel that I only get good customer service at the high end department stores like NM. I do get more interested in Hermes in the last couple of years, but SAs in my local store are soooo distant and just overall unwilling to help. I’m so discouraged so again, if I can I much prefer just buy what I can on their website.

I can't play these games 🤣 .... you have made great points but if something is flawed from their side, I can't make them think I am the problem. I am spending the money so they should provide good service and products. I definitely don't act like a Karen but I don't take the fall either 😃 Where I am in general customer service is perfect (or near perfect) in all the designer stores. I used to shop more often (when there were no queues and mad rush for designer goods). Now I think the tables have turned and demand is so high that the staff are overworked and fed up more often than not. Maybe that is also a reason why they act as they do? Although that is definitely not an excuse.... I wonder when this mad demand will drop to the normal levels it once was?

Although I do understand what you are saying I've got to say as someone who makes a living making small batch products made by hand (not trying to sound pretentious) it is honestly pretty much impossible to make everything look exactly the same when you are working with raw materials. The intention is there but depending on the amount of time the person who is making that product has been making it you are going to get a noticeably different result. I understand when buying luxury items you are looking for the sharpest looking piece but depending on the brand I'd be more nervous to see a pristine cookie cutter product than I would be to see something that might have some uniqueness. It shouldn't look like shit but I trust handmade more than I trust a machine made product.

      @SuperDacob  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Totally agree with you Jake 💖 What I was mentioning as an example in my video was when a product is faulty because the manufacturers were probably put under a lot of pressure to make as many pieces as possible hence not having the time anymore for proper quality control, hence the issue with the burnt/melted canvas on the kirigami pouch I got. 💖
