Wow such a beautiful house, beautiful furniture, bedroom and pictures of Ann and Helen.Ann sullivan was a gorgeous young lady at 15 and after too.. She was an angel who helped Helen to have a full life and dedicated her life to her in the shadow. She never wanted honours and medals but she deserved it! God bless Her and bless Helen and her parents and family. I always will think about you Helen and Ann.Hello from France! It is marvellous and oh the cottage where baby Helen was born at 3.52 is so charming!

Wow congratulations! I can sign letters and a few words lol but i cannot write braille.. I read Helen keller's book and saw all the Braille letters but i guess that They have abbreviations to write letters..it is not simple and they do have dots for the numerals and the commas, semi commas and so on..The most wonderful however is that Helen could write in square letters just like us and not only in Braille and she wrote some letters in french, Greek and latin.

The building at about 1:28 or so--is that where Annie Sullivan took Helen so they could be separate from the family for awhile?

"The Miracle Worker" (1962) starring Patty Duke [1946 - 2016] & Ann Bancroft [1931 - 2005] is a favorite movie of mine. This Academy Award winning picture brought even more attention to the people who are blind in sight...and, as it was with Helen Keller, also unable to speak normal.
in seeing the scenes of the Helen Keller home in Alabama, the motion picture of 1962 showed a larger home and land area. It is nice to know that the real Keller home was not as elaborate as what really is.
Patty Duke's performance as well as Ann Bancroft's was, I'm sure, quite emotional let alone physical as the first half or more of the show depicted in the acting.
I believe I did a book report in an high school English class about Helen.
This historic home is worth seeing and I hope to see it someday.

I was so excited when I found that her home was in the area I was in. I had a couple hours in-between my convention that I was attending and found it on Tripadvisor. I wasn't far so off I went. I did not have enough time to do the tour and had 4 others with me crammed in the car. It was really neat. I love that movie as well. A classic!

It doesn't say whether the furnishings are the originals. And the pump at the well looks too shiny and nice to be the original.

Most of the furnishings are original. The pump on the outside behind the gate is original. There is a replica of pump inside that is very shiny that include a statue of Helen.
