    To open a jar you don't need tape, just use a knife to get just under the lid by the groves and break the seal. Once the seal is broken it'll open with no problem, that's how I open all of mine and it's much easier...

    • @Volvary
      @Volvary 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Usagi Felton Sometimes it's not about the seal but more with residues sticking the lid to the pot.

      Yep I use a can opener. But be sure to open it over the pan. The food will fall out as soon as you start in most cases. Its a really good way to get "all" the tomato paste out of the can. Just push the bottom end through.

      Mike Kobb The best way to make sure beans (or anything canned for that matter) come out of a can is to shake it a few times before you open it. No stabbing needed!

      Mike I'm a big knife guy and I just wanna say I cut cans with my knives all the time and put a fast sharpen on it its it's good to go. It doesn't wreck it at all now get some kevlar gloves found in fishing places or talk to me and improve your knife skills

    • @MikeKobb
      @MikeKobb 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Given the target audience for the video, I was sort of assuming that the person wouldn't really know how to sharpen. If you're an expert and can re-make your edge, then you certainly have the option.

  • @xdannixbananix
    @xdannixbananix 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Protip about the beans in a can, if you squeeze the can on one side while it's held upside down, it will break that air-sealing that goes on to keep the beans in. Works every time with refried beans.

    The easiest way I know to open a jar is to run the lid under hot water all the way around. The heat makes the metal expand and loosen so it's easy to take off :) I've used this many times on the supposedly un-openable jars that all the guys at work try to show how strong they are by opening (but fail) and I just run it under hot water, science ftw! :D

    • @BabyKrogan
      @BabyKrogan 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** Poddibly, though the lid expands more apparently since it works every time :D

    • @StoneOfMoon
      @StoneOfMoon 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +BabyKrogan Instead of hot water, I run it over the stove fire on low for half a minute to a full minute, depending on how quick it took.
      But there was this one time it didn't work so I took a wide rubber band, wrapped it around, and just turned it like you normally would. :)

    Hey, about watering the plants, if your not home and dont have people watching your plants at your home for you, fill a 50cl soda (plastic)bottle as much as you can, without cork, flip it upside down and press it into the pot/dirt so much it can stand for itself, now you have a self watering system lasting for a week with just the right amount of water draining out of it :-)

    For the hard boiled egg one, you can just boil a batch in a large pot at max heat for 12 minutes then poor cold water onto them to create the separation between the shell and the egg for easier peeling.

    I don't get why you wouldn't just boil 10 eggs in a pot instead of wasting all that energy to cook them in the oven. Also the tin foil & spoon hack, if you don't have a plate to rest the spoon on and insist to use the tin foil, why not just rest the spoon on the tin foil instead of wrapping it around the handle.

    I have easier solutions:
    1: Use a rubber dishwashing glove or latex glove, they're often more at hand in the kitchen
    2: Don't bother poking holes, just use the bottle and pour slowly
    3: Use egg rings or don't bother with rings, have freeform fried eggs
    5: Use a spoon
    7: balance it on the handle or use a plate
    9: Use a saucepan and boil them, it's more power efficient and takes less time.

When I lived with my mom our basement was pretty small so we didn't have a microwave so whenever we got pizza we would reheat them on the pan and it is the best thing ever. @lunavixen015 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some bread types like tiger loaves are a pain in the ass to cut even with a serrated knife because of the uneven top crust, cutting from the bottom gives a better cut overall.

    • @kasai999000

    Well these tips were pretty stupid if you ask me. Preheat the oven to cook the eggs? Just boil the god damn things. Put that spoon on the stove, it will be ok.....trust me. Watering can? Just poor the fucking water into the pot. Good grief.....I could just go on....

    • @garretttyler2556
      @garretttyler2556 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah people are really throwing around the phrase "life hack" on the internets these days. "check it out now you can finally drink that can of soda with a straw!" or you can drink it out of the can or pour it in a glass like a big boy

    • @gazebo46
      @gazebo46 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wasn't impressed by the put-the-spoon-on-the-handle-of-the-frying-pan either. I mean, just use a small dish or a spoon rest to rest the spoon on!

    Can't you just call them "tips"? -.-

      @Chuk40076 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why?

    • @Serjo777
      @Serjo777 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Chuk40076
      Because they are tips. And especially because they aren't hacks.

    • @fiercingdragon
      @fiercingdragon 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Serjo777 At least you can call them tips, but a mixture of life hacks.

    • @Chuk40076
      @Chuk40076 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Serjo777 what do you consider a hack?

    • @Serjo777
      @Serjo777 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Chuk40076 Making it possible for a human being to fly without any kind of machine or apparatus would be a hack. Or never having to eat or drink again without dying or getting sick. Or having 10 hour orgasms.

    instead of using tin foil, you can put it in the hole of the handle

    • @dhruvpatel3323
      @dhruvpatel3323 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      then you can't use this trick. but sometimes the cooking utensil you're using will fit into the hole of the pot handle

    • @DoomFinger511
      @DoomFinger511 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dhruv Patel Just put a small plate or folded napkin down on the side counter and rest the spoon there. I don't see why this is a problem a hack is needed for.

    Why go through the trouble getting duct tape when you can just run hot water over the lid and loosen it?
    If you're smart you have a spoon rest at your stove so you don't have to waste tin foil every time you cook and look like an absent minded MacGyver.

      Or use a rubber dishwashing glove, or if the whole jar is being used, punch a hole through the lid with a knife to break the vacuum.

    You can dry-fry yesterdays chips/fries in a pan too.
    Do exactly the same as you did for the the pizza slice!
    Add no oil by the way, as the chips/fries have enough in them already.
    Go fry!

    A thing with reheating pizza that I find useful is putting in the oven. At least with the pizza I get, 10 minutes on 375F makes it taste pretty much like new. Just cover a baking pan with aluminum foil and you’re set. I’ve never tried the stove method, so I can’t voice my opinion on it, but I hope I helped someone, even if just a little.

    I like to soften baked on or burnt food off pans by soaking the pans with warm water, a bit of dish soap and a dryer sheet for an hour or overnight, depending on how bad it is.

    i use marshmallows in brown sugar to draw the moisture out. keeps the sugar soft and scoopable

    I've found the best way to remove a really tight jar lid is to wrap it with sandpaper. The sandpaper grit grips the lid, and the paper backing can be grasped much better with the hand than the slick lid.

  • @Sum4Seb

    Interesting bread idea for the cookies! We have used that trick to keep brown sugar soft. Even if it is all hard and stuck together, put a piece of bread in and the next day, it's all soft again! We have a meal of the day after each of our workout videos, check them out!

    glass jars with metal lids can also be opened by running the outside of the lid under hot water. the metal expands in the heat but the glass doesnt

  • @Andza195
    @Andza195 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can also reheat the pizza in a microwave as it was first from the box by placing a glass of water next to it when reheating it. The vapor from the water makes it soft and good as new.
