@@siblingstation6902 I’m almost sure the mistake was the first step. It’s not a brush tool, it’s another one, near. For this effect you need to draw a circle with line first, and only after that use this tool (smudge) with your new brush

Got it to work by duplicating a hard airbrush then changing it to all the settings shown in the video. Worked great!
