And the FHP doesn't have the manpower to enforce traffic laws anywhere in the state. They're just "too busy".
FWC is also SWORN to enforce those laws.
Get your priorities straight Florida! Nobody ever died from illegal fishing.

I do a lot of bottom fishing. I keep the "seaqualizer" rigged up on a bent butt rod and keep it in a rod holder out of the way. That way when you do catch a fish that you can't keep, you don't have to waste time setting the thing up. You just clip the fish on, throw him over and you're done... and if I were to get boarded, I could just point to the thing.

I certainly understand how someone might overlook something, like and expired fire extinguisher when still green, but anyone going bidding and especially off shore that doesn't make sure that they have all safety items is plain crazy in my book! Anything can happen at any time. There have been 2 stories within the last year it two where fishermen from Georgia and Florida have gone missing and never found. Maybe if they had been better prepared they might be able to come home to their families. Just saying.

Didn’t realize they have authority out to 200 miles offshore.

Personally I feel it’s unconstitutional for a warrant less search. Thanks for the video though. I didn’t know a descending device is required in Federal waters. I have a venting tool.

I think so too. I want to know the REAL reason they perform these “safety checks”. A lot of times it seems more like an attempt to humiliate someone than an actual safety inspection.

How much was the fine for an expired fire extinguisher?

Annoying when you are just trying to enjoy a day on the water.

I don’t understand the point of him boarding the boat. Everything could of been shown within view (safety equipment, fish ect). No point to board imo.

Is a venting tool a tool to vent your anger when you can’t catch any fish?
