    Batman 89 and Returns are better Batman movies. With that said, I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE! Batman Forever was my first exposure to the character of Batman. Forever introduced me to the first two movies, the animated series, the comics etc. Batman Forever is a huge childhood favorite of mine and more so than the first two films of the series. This has and always will be my favorite Batman movie and I don’t get the hate for this one either. This is not as bad as Batman and Robin and I can’t stand how this always gets lumped in with Batman and Robin. Sure is it campy and not as dark as Batman Returns? Yes, but this movie has its dark moments that it never gets credit for and it’s not that kid friendly. You have a very sexual Nicole Kidman, an emotional and tragic death scene of Robin’s parents, Bruce Wayne’s flashbacks to when he was a child before he was Batman was a dark and kinda creepy at times, and Bruce gets shot in the fucking head. So yeah it has these dark moments that never gets any credit from this movies haters in my opinion. Val Kilmer, the action, and production design is other things about this movie I enjoy that I feel is underrated and never gets any credit. Maybe you can say this was the first Batman movie I ever saw is to why I love this movie and holds a very special place in my heart, sure but to this day this movie still holds up for me as an adult. I can and will always defend this movie.
    In closing to sum this up, I love all 3 Batman films from Burton and Schumacher and all 3 are in my top 10 favorite superhero movies of all time and it’s high on my list. These movies are the reason why Batman is my favorite superhero. Michael Keaton is the best Batman and I love Michael, but I respectfully disagree with him on Batman Forever’s script. I will say the people to blame for Batman Forever isn’t Joel Schumacher, blame the people, the parents, and the mothers who complained about Batman Returns for being to dark and not knowing shit about the character of Batman. While I love Batman Forever and how it turned out, those mothers can go fuck themselves! Lol. We agree to disagree on this one Matt. Good review as always.

    Interesting Fact that Leonardo DiCaprio was Warner Bros second choice to play Robin but lost out to Chris O Donnell. Apparently it was because they felt that O Donnell looked the more intimidating out of the two. Also Christian Bale who would later play Batman ten years later, was also in consideration for the role of Robin.

    I personally enjoy this film, always had fun with it, granted i would've preferred Burton and Keaton returning but hey i like what we got anyways, Val Kilmer, Jim Carrey and Chris O'Donnell were all good, Nicole Kidman was really sexy as Chase Meridian, i thought Tommy Lee Jones had potential but was ultimately miscast, i hate how people act like this movie has no dark moments when in reality it has plenty, This film is nowhere near as bad as Batman and Robin

    I like all the Original Batman movies, "Batman & Robin" Isn't that bad, to me. I do like some elements of it, I don't believe it's one of the worst comic movies of all time like others do. I think "Winter Soldier" Is to me.

      @@nickb9718 To me Enjoying it more. I can't enjoy or get Interested Winter Soldier. Its just not much there to me. I like Bane's character in that, his look. I like some of the humor in that movie, I think some of the fighting could be better, I liked the bat jet or fighter. I liked the look of the bat car. I liked the costume designs of them though the zooming suiting up part could have been handled really much better.
      Winter Soldier, maybe the fighting is ok. Black is fine but not much there to me. Batgirl had a better storyline to me, I didn't mind her.

    I agree with you on Tommy Lee Jones not being the best Two-Face. I honestly think most people wish they could forget his Two-Face.
    My favorite version of Two-Face are Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face, and the Two-Face from Batman: The Animated Series. To me, those two interpretations feel like the Two-Face that Bob Kane was originally writing about.

    The best way I can describe this movie, is that it's sort of like the live action equivalent to: "Batman: The Brave and the Bold", where... it's really silly, and really hokey, and more... in line with the Adam West show, but is still trying to have some substance to it.
    And... that's sort of how I feel with this film.

    My dad explained to me that the writers wanted this movie to be the "modern-day Adam West's BATMAN" with this movie, and it ultimately works in my opinion. I always thought Two-Face and Riddler were a poor man's Joker and Harley Quinn, but that's what you get with the villains in the Adam West show.

    Believe it or not this is my favorite Batman film. I love the tone of it feels like the Adam West Batman with a huge budget. Jim Carrey as the Riddler was incredible in my opinion and I enjoyed his chemistry with Tommy Lee Jones even though I’ve read Jones hated Carrey. The plot is also so comic book like, brain waves man fucking brain waves lol. I like Val Kilmer and I’d say Nicole Kidman was the best looking female in any Batman film. Chris O'Donnell doing nunchucks with his socks in this movie is one of the cringiest things ever filmed in cinema. I cringed so hard as a kid, before I even knew what a cringe was. This one has always been a pro& con for me 6 pack lol(since your a huge fan of Levaithan thought I'd throw the jab at cha in a humble way) I caught this one in the theater and what I didn't like is Val Kilmer in the lead of our Bob cane anti-hero Smh I think Kilmer works better as in a more supporting role than the lead he just didn't have personality,his performance came off stell,as if it just was a fat paycheck& credits added to his filmography. I understand O'Donnell approach to the role,he's coming off of watching his parents murder right before his vary eyes but he over did the performance& came off as a prick! I heard Marlon wayans was up for that part originally,hate he didn't get the part because I would have liked to have witness what he would have added,dramatically to the role,I have a idea it would have been a bit slapstick but more tolerable for me :-) I didn't care for Kidman character,don't mind her as a actress,just didn't like her part,it was to offbeat& psychotic for me,it wasn't serious. Now to what I did like,good cinematography,great set pieces and lighting,Jim Carrey was very enjoyable and Jones was extremely entertaining(these 2 stole the show) as well as the plot itself,I liked the idea how personal it was for our anti hero& his sidekick& how there pain was shared. I had to look at this film in a different way after coming off of seeing Tim Burton sequel in theaters because of the night& day different tone both films have. Once I accepted that,forever became it's own& I was able to judge it fair. Awesome song by seal I might add :-)

    I love this movie for been very comic book like and fantasy world more than the ultra series of nolans trilogy. Its colourfull and action packed and batman uses loads of gadgets. You can count on one hand the times Batman uses batarangs and grenades in the Nolan Trilogy, just way to real world.

    Batman Forever is OK at best with a decent portrayal by Val Kilmer.
    I like Jim Carrey in this but oh my god Tommy Lee Jones is absolutely unbearable in this film with honestly one of the single worst performances i've ever seen in a comic book/superhero film.
    He was dreadful.

  • @ryandt2623

    Well if you were to ask me what I think is the best Batman movie for kids... well... actually I think the best Batman movie for kids is: "Mask of the Phantasm". But, if I had to disclude that, and just stick to live action, I'd probably have to go with Batman Forever. Because Batman & Batman Returns are more for adults then they really are for kids, and Batman & Robin is way too immature.

  • @system-error
    @system-error 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Robin was way cooler in the comics. The third Robin, there's been three. The first one grew up and became Nightwing. The second one was unpopular and got killed off, the Joker killed him with his mother, that was a pretty dark story. A Lonely Place Of Dying it's called. I guess you'd like it since you hate Robin haha, you villain. But then the third Robin was a more popular one, Tim Drake. There was a good solo series of his by Chuck Dixon in 91, he goes up against a cool villain called King Snake. Chuck Dixon shits on most of these movie writers. He created Bane too.

    • @pauricboylan3571
      @pauricboylan3571 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The second Robin was Jason Todd who became Red Hood, so was he brought back from the dead.

    • @system-error
      @system-error 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pauricboylan3571 yeah he was resurrected, and the Red Hood identity was pre-existing too, it was like a costume worn by different criminals. The guy who became the Joker was dressed as the Red Hood the night he fell into the chemicals at the factory - Tim Burton's movie used that plotline but removed the Red Hood part.
      Frank Miller and Chuck Dixon have both mentioned how after they delivered stories and characters to Marvel/DC, the editorial staff would murder, rape and ruin them after they left, like as a deliberate douche move. A show of power. Similarly, the deliberate ruination of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker is the same kind of move by Disney/Kathleen Kennedy on the creator George Lucas. It's to make the creator feel powerless and send the message that they don't own anything they created for the corporation, the corporation does. So maybe with Jason Todd they killed him off to annoy the writers who created him, then resurrected him to annoy the writers who had killed him off.

    This movie is a popcorn film I still like this one it's silly but it's silly on purpose Riddler and Two-Face are made to be modern versions of the 6os show and Jim is apeing Frank Gorshin. This film is created to be just a fun time I prefer dark Batman but I'm ok with the lighter version it's just all in the execution I enjoyed the fun of this movie. However, it does lack deeper depth because of the removed scenes of Batman's subplot of losing his memory and seeing the big bat again and finding himself. That scene needed to be left in the movie and not removed. For what it is a popcorn movie I found this nothing more than a good time similar to how I feel about Nightmare 4 Dream Master also a popcorn movie. Batman and Robin though is a bad popcorn movie playing too dumb children.

    60s tv show 7/10
    batman 7/10
    batman returns 7 /10
    batman forever 9/10
    batman + robin 2 /10
