The Transformers: The Movie is a 1986 animated film based on the Transformers television series, in turn based on the Transformers toyline created by Hasbro.
It was released in North America on August 8, 1986, and in the United Kingdom on December 12, 1986. The film was co-produced and directed by Nelson Shin, who also produced the original Transformers television series.
The screenplay was written by Ron Friedman, who would create The Bionic Six a year later. The movie features the voices of Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Robert Stack, Lionel Stander, John Moschitta Jr., Peter Cullen and Frank Welker.
It also marked the final roles for both Orson Welles, who died the year before its release, and Scatman Crothers, who died months after its release. The film's story takes place in 2005, 20 years after the events of the TV series' second season, and serves to bridge into the third season. - บันเทิง
if you grew up with this movie you'll enjoy it a lot more than if you didnt grow up with it.
@@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 I never was angry Optimus got killed off. Maybe because I was too young to comprehend and understand it and was too busy being in awe of the overall spectacle. I also liked the new characters they introduced.
I dont really get too offended when characters I like get killed off. The reason I dont like Alien 3 is not because of what they did its because its basically a boring slasher movie where an alien kills off one by one a bunch of lame bald characters I dont care about. Funny how Rambo just reviewed Friday 8 where Jason is teleporting all over the place always in the right place at the right time to kill well thats what the Alien does in Alien3! Its the same thing,
Yeah. I was never a big fan of this one either. But then again I didn't grow up with the cartoons. I grew up watching Beast Wars more than anything. I will say this though. The soundtrack is awesome. I just wish it was in a better movie.
Being a huge transformer fan, I have to agree. There was no need to kill off Optimus Prime at all. I mean Jesus, introduce new characters but don't slaughter the old ones! The film was perfect up to the point if Prime dying and then I was like, "who gives a shit about these fucks?' Oh well, one big missed opportunity!
I like the movie, but yes, i can even admit myself that optimus prime didn't need to be killed off in this film at all. I really love the soundtrack and the score by Vince DiCola.
I think it was one of those movies where we get sucked into an edgy mood to have fun. Galvatron needed a bigger beating.
Honestly, I love Megatron. He's honestly my favorite cartoon villain. Frank Welker... he does a great job as the voice of Megatron, he can get a lot of really intimidating line deliveries, and he really made a lot of episodes of the Transformers cartoon worthwhile. Even this movie.
And yes, like a lot of people, I too was upset that they didn't call him back in to voice Megatron in the Michael Bay films, and that they instead got Hugo Weaving. That was bullshit. Frank Welker is Megatron! You can't replace him!
This movie is still better then any of the Transformers movies produced by Michael Bay.
I absolutely loved the animated Transformers movie and it my opinion, it still holds up. Maybe I'm just saying that from a nostalgic's perspective though.
Trivia: In later cuts of the film (Rhino Vhs / UK release), it would have an opening crawl for the uninitiated audience, and narration at the end saying Optimus Prime will return. Which he does, BUT AS FREAKING ZOMBIE in the episode "Dark awakening". However at the end of season 3 (and was promoted later cuts at the end Dark Awakening with voiceover) Hasbro finally bring back Prime properly in the 2-parter episode "The Return of Optimus Prime". Unfortunately if you go by the short lived season 4 which comprised of 3 episodes he doesn't do much, and if you go by the japanese series which ignoring season 4 title "Transformers:Headmasters" he dies again.
What I'm saying is that while it was depressing and impact to see Prime dies the first time, it started to become a running trope that has bleed into a lot of other transformer incarnations. Such as in Armada when he sacrifices himself to save the Earth, or in Prime which he becomes part of the allspark to bring life to Cybertron. The worst is of course Revenge of The Fallen, but the others (while good homages in their own righr) were never as emotional level or compose as well compared to the original.
Nice job on the video Matt and I didn't grow up with the transformers cartoon I watched beast wars more than transformers!
3:25 He's voiced by David Mendenhall from ''Over The Top'' FYI!
Wonderful job on the video bro I totally understand what your coming from Matt about this film but I grew up with this film I still enjoy it I do want to re-visit ''G.I.Joe-The Movie'' someday I do remember enjoying it.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found the movie disappointing. I hated it when they killed off most of the older roster to introduce the new characters. That's not how you pass the torch. I understand that some characters will have to die to keep things fresh, but selling new toys is not a valid reason to kill them off! It's just a dick move. And people even said back when it first released, it's not even very good. The film's structure is a mess and the Matrix of Leadership wouldn't stop Unicron from devouring planets, so why the hell should he be so obsessed with claiming it? It's just stupid when you think about it.
My apologies if this is a little off topic, but since you've bought the uncut Beavis & Butt-Head Blu-Ray set a few months ago, I thought you'd be thrilled to know that the same guy who made that just listed the complete 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons (all the episodes in order, plus the uncut version of Turtles Forever and an hour long worth of bonus features). Just helping out a fellow Ninja Turtles fan.
Funny enough, I bought it yesterday ;) just waiting for it to be shipped out.

Sweet. I just bought my copy of it a few minutes ago. Waiting for mine to ship, too. Once again, this is proving that fans do a better job at giving us what we want than companies like Via-cunts.
i love anything transformers, would have thought you liked it , the style is usually what you're into
btw i just saw the GI JOE MOVIE (1987) and i was REALLY impressed, top notch cartoon
Killing all the decent characters especially Optimus Prime So early on just to make room for lame ones like Blur, the 'Dare to be Stupid' robots like Eric Idle's character and more made this film suck to me.
Btw, the criticisms Ive heard of GI Joe movie is that all the Cobra-La stuff doesnt fit the Gi Joe universe because its too sci fi. I thought it was cool and never had a problem with it but its interesting to see what others think.
I'll have to disagree with you on this 1 Matt but to each their own. If you didn't like the film then that's cool. I enjoyed your vid, it was fun an hilarious, Lol 🙂 I Love this film for it's atmosphere an awesome Soundtrack, I know you liked the soundtrack too. The story and the depth an heart to each character was amazing. Optimus Prime an Hotrod to the old timer autobot were incredible with their voice an performance to the hilarious dinobots to Megatron/ Galvatron by Leonard Nimoy was great to 1 of the most incredible, phenomenal an imposing villains of all Time with Unicron.
Unicrons soundtrack is Legendary.
To me this was the greatest Transformers film ever made. This film was a wild rollercoaster ride of an adventure for me 🙂
You should check out your boy Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights singing The Touch. It's pretty funny.
Very flawed movie, but I love it!
Good film but it could of and should of been Epic!!
I think most people disagree with this review.
I think this movie kicks ass. I think you had to be a big Transformers fan as a kid to really appreciate it. My favorite animated movie of all time, and no other movie will top it. The good guys from seasons 1 and 2 were killed off at the beginning of the movie because Hasbro wanted to make room for the new 1986 toy line. At least they gave Optimus Prime a good death and treated the character with respect. That's more than you can say for the Star Wars sequels in regard to Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.
" The good guys from seasons 1 and 2 were killed off at the beginning of the movie because Hasbro wanted to make room for the new 1986 toy line" Yes I know...which to me was the absolute WORST decision they could have done for this flick. That's what I meant in the review...doing that 'shit the bed' for this movie.
I think he means that if they didn't try the whole 'kill everyone for new toys' stuff (which pissed a lot of kids thus they gave up on the show) then more seasons of the Original Show would have been done instead of dwindling ratings/spin-offs being needed.
Its not going to be a welcome comparison on this page, but that's Hasbro for you, they are doing the same thing with My Little Pony generation 5. Generation 4 of MLP had tons of loveable characters with great arcs, especially for a show that ran for 9 seasosn, had 1 theatrical movie and 6 spin off movies in just under 10 years. Hasbro runs on an outdated model of using a TV show to sell toys, they're not going to take advantage of characters people adore, they sweep them under the rug for new characters, and its for marketing reasons, not for creativity.
I noticed you hate movies that kill characters off
A lot of them do it so Piss Poorly.
@@ramboraph4life yea I see that
That will be rob zombies transformers the heavy metal songs that you will be doing
I have no nostalgia for the movie, it came out 7 years before I was born. I appreciate the incredible 80s animation, the soundtrack has a few headbangers, but that's about it.
I actually preferred Go-bots: Battle of the Rocklords, or wherever it was called.
I remember watching this Transformer movie when it came out in the 80s. Nowaday, I hear from folks that it made them cry. When I hear that from them, I think to myself THAT DOES NOT MAKE A GOOD FILM. Anyhow, this movie did kill Transformers for me as well for a long, long, LONG time. Then I got into the Healthcliff cartoon soon thereafter watching this Transformer movie.
This is the only Transformers film I like. I didn't even like the MIchael Bay films when they came out.
Disliked
